The NFL has played some games in London, and perhaps this year too, as they are trying to expand their brand into Europe.
The Fridge was William "Refrigerator" Perry who played for Mike Ditka's Chicago Bears teams. I guess that there are some British fans of American Football, like your dad was Jon. But I can't for the life of me figure out why an English chap would choose to root for the Kansas City Chiefs.
I also loved your experience in Vegas hanging out with the Yanks, drinking beer and watching football. I bet the whole crowd loved your accent Jon, as I'm sure you enjoyed theirs.
My apologise you are correct, the fridge was with the Bears but I don't know why I followed the Chiefs, I just liked their name. During that time in Vegas, it was actually the 3rd week in Sept just after NFL started up, the atmosphere was brilliant and yes the Yanks did love us. They couldn't believe me and my 2 buds were there for 2 weeks, they said "you must be high rollers". Which was funny because we budgeted on just 100 dollars per day. After we spent a few bucks at the 88 we ventured to the casinos and got back to the motel about 8am. We couldn't believe our eyes the first morning we got back because there was this ex pat Brit running the daily bingo session. The motel used to bus in all the old people from nearby into the bar so they could play their bingo and then ferry them home. By the time we finished the 2 weeks I was full of steak and eggs and Bud. lol
