Congratulations to TouchKrazy as his Dodgers will indeed be facing my Yankees again….after a 43 year pause when the Dodgers beat the Yanks. My friend and I had a partial season ticket plan back then in 1981 and attended those games. I felt super confident when the Yanks won the first two games in New York but the Dodgers took the next three at L.A. and the Dodgers beat us in The Bronx in Game 6.

This year will be the twelfth time the two franchises meet in the series, most in baseball. The rivalry goes back to when the Brooklyn Dodgers first had a subway series with the Yankees in 1941, when Joe DiMaggio was playing center field.

This is 2024 with superstars on both sides and could be another classic World Series. Can’t wait for Game 1 on Friday!!!

Thanks Mike I feel that this will be a good series. I too look forward to game 1 on Friday I have invited a few friends for a watch party as we could never afford tickets to the game upper deck seats are going for $900 the seats behind home plate start at $5000 thats crazy.

Haha. Same here. Back in 1981 we had reserved seats behind third base for our partial season ticket plan. I think it was around $15 a game. Playoffs and World Seties probably $40. Today it is ridiculously unaffordable for the average person. Plus we are comfy in our living rooms watching in high def with all the replays. I agree that it should be a good series.

Congrats to the Dodgers for winning the NL pennant and look forward to a quality Yankees vs. Dodgers World Series. The Mets lost to superior talent in the Dodgers after defeating superior talent in the Brewers and Phillies, two games short of the World Series for an underdog team throughout the playoffs is not bad and a good base for improvement in 2025.

I will be watching from home as you TouchKrazy. Ticket prices are ridiculous. I’m very happy to sit back in my recliner watching on my big screen Hi Def TV.

Congratulations to TouchKrazy and all Dodger fans on a dramatic walk off grand slam in the tenth inning by Freddy Freeman as the Dodgers came from behind to beat the Yankees 6-3 last night. It was a dramatic win for the Dodgers and a gut wrenching loss for the Yankees. Game 2 tonight, same time, same venue.

Thanks Mikeyank, I just woke up and need to clean up the mess from early this morning, I was fine until Freddie hit his Grand Slam and started doing Tequila shooters lets just say I'm not 25 anymore. I hope game two is just as good as game one, I feel this series will go the distance.

I agree TouchKrazy, I hope tonight’s game is as good as last night’s. I have plenty of Dodgers Peanuts and Dodger Dogs for the Bar-b-q.

Great 10th inning finish with Freeman's grand slam reminiscent of Kurt Gibson's similar homer against the Mets in the 1988 NLCS. Great start to a hopefully great World Series!

Believe it or not, WSHU, the local public radio station in southwestern Connecticut, had a raffle for four behind home plate tickets for this Tuesday's game at Yankee Stadium. I believe those tickets go for $2,500 each during the Yankee regular season!

That sounds about right. The section directly behind home plate and behind the first and third base dugouts at Yankee Stadium are called the Legend Seats. They are separated from the rest of the lower deck to prevent anyone without tickets from trying to sneak in. They are sold in full season ticket blocks and include dining in one of two Legends Dining Rooms or waiter service at your seats. The only thing not included are alcoholic beverages which are extra.

I know because a friend of mine was given four free tickets every year as his company was a corporate sponsor, and I was always a guest who took advantage of the comp. I found this information on Google:

“Tickets for the Legends Suite Club at Yankee Stadium can cost between $400 and $5,000 per ticket. However, the price of tickets can vary depending on the date, opponent, and seat location. On Stub Hub, Legends Seats can range from $600 to $6,000.

The Legends Suite offers a premium experience with first-class accommodations, fine dining, and a variety of services. The suite is located between sections 014A and 027A, and offers intimate views of the diamond.Amenities include:
  • Padded seats with lots of leg room
  • Four restaurants for Legends Seat owners, including the Kettle Lounge
  • A server in each section who can provide food and drinks “

After a great pitching outing from Yoshinobu Yamamoto the Dodgers take game two and are now headed back to NY for game 3 on Monday. I still feel that this series will return back to LA for a game 6 or 7. Shohei Ohtani left the game at the end of the 8th inning with a subluxation of his left shoulder when he tried stealing 2nd base unsuccessfully., they are waiting for the results of an MRI, I'm not a doctor but I don't feel he will be back. They have not released very much news on his situation.

Obviously as a Yankee fan, I am not pleased by the results of the first two games, and Aaron Jusge being in a terrible slump is disappointing. However I can recall two World Series involving the Yankees in recent memory where the team winning the first two games lost the series. In 1981 when I attended the games, the Yanks took a 2-0 lead in New York, and then the Dodgers swept the three in L.A. and won it in front of me in Game 5 in New York. And the opposite happened in 1996, Joe Torre’s first year as manager where the Atlanta Braves won the first two in New York and the Yanks swept the next three in Atlanta and came home to win it.

Bit the odds of a 2-0 team winning the series are very high and it certainly is looking like a Dodgers win, but we have to play the games out and see what happens. I hope that Ohtani is okay to play tomorrow night. Congrats to TouchKrazy and Rockstar on your team’s winning the first two.

I have three sports teams that I follow closely and the love. The aforementioned New York Yankees, The New York Football Giants, (who are hard to watch currently) and the Duke Blue Devils basketball team. While the World Series is on a travel day off, it is fortuitous for me that Duke will be playing their final exhibition game tonight televised on the ACC Network. It is a charity game bringing Arizona State into Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium, and they are coached by Duke legend and two time National Champion, Bobby Hurley. Bobby has his #11 retired and hanging over the rafters at Cameron. He is currently 53, hard for me to believe, but he was on the greatest Duke teams that I ever saw with Christian Laettner, Grant Hill and company. WELCOME BACK HOME, BOBBY!!!

And I found out that Bobby’s son also named Bobby Hurley is a senior walk-on on Arizona State and he has a strong resemblance to his dad. It will be pretty cool for his son to see where his dad played and was loved by the Duke fans. And while he is a bench player I’d have to think that dad Bobby will find a spot to allow Bobby Junior a chance to play on Coach K court too. It’s a good night for me to watch this exhibition game before the World Series resumes tomorrow night.

The New York Times Sport Section had an article today about the Dodgers' announcer who called Freeman' s grand slam on Friday: "Gibby, meet Freddy!", which was his tribute to Vin Scully's historic call when Gibson hit his historic homer: "I can't believe what I just saw!" The article also pointed out that both the Gibson and Freeman historic Dodger home runs were hit at exactly 8:37 Pacific Time. One of the great things about baseball is its appreciation of baseball history.

Ohtani is in the Dodger starting lineup tonight. Apparently he feels that he can play through the partial shoulder dislocation.

Looks like a Dodgers sweep coming up tonight…..or maybe one win for the Yanks, but nothing is going right. Got to give L.A. all the props in the world for being a great team, but the Yankees are playing their worst version of their themselves and it is all going wrong from starting pitching, lack of hitting at all, and poor defense and base running, which adds up to a decisive Dodgers whopping our asses. I will watch and root as I always do, but it is certainly not what Yankee fans were hoping for…….

Mike, being a baseball fan I feel your pain I've seen many teams fail at the wrong time and it sucks. The NYY are a good baseball team with a lot of talented players, I too have been disappointed in the Yankee's performance as I was looking forward to a great series. I know it's not probable with the odds against them now but they are not out until the fat lady sings.

It's a bullpen game for the Dodgers tonight, which should bode well for the Yankees tonight as one of the multiple Dodger pitchers should be off, but their relief pitching has been great so far!
