What's Life Like in New York City?

My walk in Manhattan last Sunday was on a cloudy drizzly afternoon and the pictures were not great. But today was a spectacular spring day and I was out at Brooklyn Bridge Park and took some more pics of the blue skies and the views from the waterfront park of lower Manhattan.

Great pics!

My walking group is going again and I’ve taken some ferry rides up the East River over the last few weeks. Last weekend I was in beautiful Riverside Park on the upper west side of Manhattan, and a couple from my local Brooklyn Bridge Park. Here are a few of my iPhone pics of these trips throughout New York City.

Beautiful pics! What happened to the shirtless teen aged skate boarders you used to photograph! They were beautiful too!

One of my favorite days when I visited NYC was seeing the neighborhoods around Yankee Stadium in The Bronx and driving to Flushing Meadows in Queens. I'm going to go back soon for another visit... Don't tell Mikeyank because I'll be staying with his sister in law on the upper east side or Yoko at The Dakota lolololol

I won't tell him, but word is that he has purchased a new air mattress and sleeping accommodations have improved since your last visit. And Yoko said you'd have to share Sean's room. lololol

Thanks KG. Actually the teen aged skate boarders were internet pics, before I got my iPhone. I've gotten a few candid shots of shirtless guys but I have to be careful as I don't know that they are interested in having an "old pervert" taking their pics. lol

Try offering one of them a cheeseburger at MacDonald's, and he will give you whatever you want!

These are great pictures. Thanks again Mikey. :)
You are very welcome Tampa, as you initiated this thread. There is truly so much more to New York City than one might think. Yes we have Times Square and gritty inner city neighborhoods but we also have parks and nature and history. I am quite proud to be a native New Yorker, as the disco song went many years ago. lol

Thats my Fort Lauderdale game KG, remember? New York City prices are a lot higher. :sneaky2:

I very much do remember! Book your late Winter vacation for Spring Break in Ft. Lauderdale and take advantage of the "lower cost of living" down there! I thought that I had the best deal in New Orleans at the gay dance bar for fondling a rock hard twink cock for only $1, but you received from hot college boys for just buying them a Big Mac tops that!

I'd be proud to live in a city with so much history and heritage also. :)

From your pictures I allow myself a much more romaticized perspective of NYC. The pics of the skylines and beautiful scenic neighborhoods can give you such a warm and happy vibe of this particaular slice of Americana and the American Experience.

You naughty boys. haha

Try living there as a money deprived student!

I remember that lifestyle very well. Been there. Done that. Got the t-shirt. I don't think I would have wanted to try it in NYC though. haha

Yesterday was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in July 2021 and I was on a walking tour which included parts of the Meatpacking District and the West Village. And as we passed certain streets my mind went back to the same locations forty-five years ago when I was in my mid twenties and those streets were a gay playground. This was before the AIDS epidemic put an end to the carefree sexual play in the gay community.

This is the corner of Christopher Street & West Street yesterday, looking from the waterfront to that once infamous corner.

On the same corner in the 1970's & early 1980's were Badlands on the left and the Christopher Street Bookstore on the right. The bookstore with it's basement and outdoor backroom were the source of some great "pleasure" that I can still remember today, all these years later.

And in the Meatpacking district, which today is the location of some great restaurants and is part of the "beautiful people" and a great tourist destination. But back in the wild 1970's and 1980's was the epicenter of the leather scene with bars like The Anvil and The Mineshaft. Our tour took us to Washington & Little West 12th Street and my mind wandered back in time once again.....

This was the site of The Mineshaft where heavy duty leather & S&M went on but the more timid and mild-mannered folks like me could go for drinks and observe the activities, as long as you adhered to the dress code, lol

Also from yesterday, looking west, you can see a portion of The Highline, the overground park built on an abandoned rail road track. Another very popular recreational spot in New York City for tourists and native New Yorkers alike.

And just to show you that my mind was not all on the sexual pleasures of yesteryear, here are some pics of The Little Island Park and as we walked toward the Financial District in lower Manhattan, One World Trade as we approach the twentieth anniversary of the saddest day I can remember in New York City history.

And while I am posting pics of NYC, I am also including a few I took last week when my friend was visiting me from Florida and we took a ferry ride up the East River, and as we wandering around Manhattan.
