Reality TV;

I don't know how others' feel about "Reality-TV" shows but, I rather enjoy a few of them myself!

Here's what happens when reality meets reality! LOL!

I enjoy Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Big Brother. Cable has really devolved into the lowest common denominator for so-called reality shows - the latest one that sounds like really the lowest of the low to me is "Pit Bulls and Parolees".

Reality shows are ruining uk tv. It's a cheap way of entertaining the public and unfortunately the majority of the public are duped into watching such tripe.

I like American Ninja Warrior. Tons of cute well built guys doing tough obstacle courses, often with no shirt on.

In the big finale, they had an American team, Japanese (where I hear it's hugely popular), and for the first time a team from Europe. The European team won, even though they had just started it over there.

Hot male bodies, feats of strength. The best of reality TV!

While I hear your concern, as someone in the business I have to add that no one is duped into watching anything. There are an enormous amount of choices, and some of the best drama (especially via the UK) ever. I'm a big fan of two veteran reality shows but simply ignore the parade of unappealing shows here in the US. Now, Broke Straight Boys Reality, that will be worth viewing!

I'm already working on my list for the "airing of grievances"! I'll look for the aluminum pole later! - lol!!!

The only reality shows I watch are NCI-New York, NCIS, Law and Order and multiple reruns of Smallville, Superman and Batman. I guess my preference for reality shows are those with heroes and super-heroes.

Bring this guy into my bedroom with his wet, black armpits, super cock and thick bush and I will die and go to heaven

On the subject of ACTUAL "reality shows", though ~

I agree with Jon that most of them are crap. However, I do like to watch The Dragons' Den (from Canada); and The Shark Tank from the U.S.A., because:

*These are real entrepreneurs, striving to get real investors (so there is a vestige of reality, about it); and, because,
*Kevin O'Leary (who is Canadian, and appears on both series) is such a heartless bastard, and such a PRICK, it's fun to hate him - as he takes down some of these would-be millionaires. (Often rightly, but NEVER diplomatically.)

"A" XOXOXOXOXO

One of the inside secrets of reality tv is that it is much cheaper and easier to film than the standard tv series. For one, you don't have to pay huge salaries to established actors. While some of the reality shows are somewhat scripted for dramatic effect, you don't have to pay high-powered screenwriters to totally script every gesture, scene, costume and spoken word. You don't have to have costly and time-consuming rehearsals. The cast members don't have to waste their time and the studio's time reading and memorizing their lines. Wardrobe costs are minimal in comparison to other scripted television. They can be produced at a fraction of the standard cost. So as long as they are popular in the ratings and draw in advertisers, the networks are more than happy to oblige.

I had my own reality show for a while. This was a time ago. There use to be sights where people would set up cams throughout their house and broadcast all day. I had cams set up in the living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. I ran the cams 24/7 from 2004 - 2005. It also gave me a sense of security in that I could view my place through the day while I was at work. Also gave me a chance to check up on my dog and two cats until I caught my dog piddling on my recliner. I finally shut the cams down when my nephew moved in with me in December of 2005. Actually, I should have left them up 'cause there was a funny incident that occurred. My nephew and I were in the habit of shaving everything from pits to toes during that time. (I hated my smooth years) He was off on the days I was at work. I came home one day, changed clothes and then went in to use the toilet. While I was sitting on the pot I spotted a pubic hair on the floor! I finished my business, picked it up and went into the living room where my nephew was watching the news. After a few moments I asked him if he had had company. He said no he had not. I then held up the pubic hair and asked him, "Well, then whose is this!" His face turned red and he sheepishly said, "Shit, guess I'm busted!" (the pubic hair was blond and we both have black hair)

If you're interested. My nephew is 25 years younger than me. He is totally straight but has always accepted my sexuality. He lived with me for two years during that time. When he left he moved to New Mexico. He did return in 2010 and stayed with me at the nudist resort for six months. He could not find work so he returned to New Mexico. He has a rich sugar Mama there who takes care of him.

Now you know the rest of the story!

I hate to sound like a curmudgeon Tampa but, I would have put a disclaimer on such a statement like ..."To the best of my knowledge.." or from a source. I don't know that would apply to all reality shows! I also watch "Gold Rush" and follow them on Twitter. Duck Dynasty is another show that I can think of who's "stars" of the show actually do have money. Traveling and transporting heavy equipment ain't cheap! Some of which they use to "further the hype" so to speak, gain endorsements and everyone makes money including the networks who air them....Just sayin....

These are not reality shows. CSI: New York is a criminal procedure show just running in repeats now; NCIS is a criminal procedural show based on the Naval criminal investigation; Law and Order is a crime drama shown only in reruns; Law & Order:Special Victims Unit is a crime drama based on the work of of the NYPD's SVU. Smallville was a fictional drama based on Superman childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. Superman was a tv drama based on the comic Book hero; and Batman was a satiric spoof of the comic book hero.
