An Open Letter to Management

Let me think about a way to work around this. Our camera costs about $4K plus hiring another camera man and housing him isn't possible with our budget so I'll need to think on this to see if something can be done to help.

A camera doesn't have to be manned to be effective. You could easily have a ceiling mounted GoPro. Either a Hero Black 5 - $399.00 on Amazon or a Hero Session 5 - $279.00 on Amazon - with frequent additional price reductions. They are both tiny and unobtrusive, low-light sensitive, have good optics and they both shoot full 4k30 (or 1440p80 and 1080p120 if you want to use for slowmo later) and can be run and monitored remotely over bluetooth or wi-fi with an android or iDevice. It would give you extra coverage to play with, of course it would not always have a perfect shoot, but for an unmanned camera that you could even control from another room you'd only be out the under $500 for a camera and memory card and the time it took to clamp on a c-stand or something. Easy footage to edit in FCPx or Premiere Pro with plenty of free plugins to remove any fisheye lens distortion. (You can even transfer the footage over wi-fi, so you'd really never even need to touch the camera at all.)

...and no extra crew to house on site.

There are several other un-manned options as well. Search Amazon for "Mevo - Live Event Camera for select Android and iOS devices."

I'm pretty sure this type of camera would not be hi-def like their 4,000 cameras but unmanned or remote controled may really be a good idea for a second camera.

Actually they ARE Hi-Def - they are, in fact, 4k -- also known as UHD or Ultra HD (RED area of the attached image). That is 4x the 1080p resolution that is typically called "True HD" (BRIGHT GREEN area of the image)

The videos that Broke Straight Boys delivers as "HD" are 1280x720 (DARK GREEN area of the image) which is great, but somewhat lower than standard HD. Their "High Quality" option is 960x540 (a wider version of the BLUE DVD area) , A standard HD TV is 1920x1080, and a 4k TV is typically 3840×2160.

The $4000 cameras are typically $4000 because of the versatility of their lensing, or their sensor quality for low light. Also, many in that range write natively to ProRes422 or have dual hot-swappable memory card bays or output raw signal directly to an external drive. Again for this situation, it's not about the infinite configurability of the camera itself - just having a single, un-changing high-quality video source to cut away to.

The 2015 award-winning film "Tangerine" was shot entirely on 3 iPhone 5s phones, not NEARLY as nice as the GoPro cameras are and was perfect for theatrical release and Sundance and many other veneues. (Awesome movie, too.)

Less expensive doesn't always mean less good.

I can't think of any other site that is quite like this one........Is this a big extended family or what. Great company and great membership. Maybe some of us members should consider making a small donation and throw a party for the staff, owners, crew as a little appreciation for caring enough about the members to interact as they do. Just a suggestion.

If Tanner, Ben, Justin and Damion are there I'll chip in. :001_smile:
Oh even Oliver and Dillon. Something about those boy's. Think there is more to them than we see on Broke Straight Boys..

I agree SFPSO1! :thumbup1:

Ever since I joined the site, and then the forum especially...this place has always felt like an extended family to me. Not just among the members...but among the staff and management of the site as well. And sometimes we even have that feeling with some of the models. As much as we members might disagree among ourselves, or have complaints about things on the site from time to time...we all basically care for, or at least have respect for each other.

After Bithebi posted the initial letter, I checked back each time the thread had new comments. It is clearly evident that this forum consists of a whole bunch of nice people. Very nice people and dang smart, too! From my experience participating in the forum over the last 2-3 weeks, I want to thank Mark for his assistance with some technical glitches. I didn't have to take a "suggestion number followed by a do-not reply standard email" that said that my message was recieved and I would hear back in 48 hours. It was over a weekend, and I heard back from Mark the next day. Mark not only fixed the issue, but enhanced the original AND asked for my feedback! I thanked you then Mark, but I am thanking you again. I am so lucky to be part of this pro-active group.

Your right! This is a great group and management is right there! I had a couple of issues when they made some major website changes and Mark got right back to me. There are still a couple of things I have to work around but I think it's an iPad issue. It's amazing and rewarding to be part of this group!

Hey guys,
I do love this group...and the porn. I am going to take a break and focus on me. Somehow age has caught up with me and I be needing some "doctoring." I will be back, so keep the boy warm and the conversation flowing. Love ya!

Yes Beth. Please know that we will miss you very much in here. But you need to take care of and focus on You. We'll be here waiting with open arms when you are ready to come back with us more once you're feeling better. Good luck!

Love and Blessings

Gonna miss you Beth..Take care of yourself and get back to us. Well be waiting..:smiley-love021: You tell that Steve to take good care of YOU. xoxo

Dear bithebi:

You couldn't have started this thread with a better post. It was logically presented and written cogently and concisely. It was long because you had a lot to say. And you said it well. (There are many posts on the forum longer than this one of yours where that is not the case - lol!!!)

The thoughts and observations you expressed are ones that many forumites have expressed over time just not in one place. And I think that gave all of us, including management, much to think about. And you elicited from management a post which was more responsive than any I can remember. Perhaps it was due to your being new to all this or that management is just tired of the same old harpies making the same old observations and suggestions. Whatever the case, you got them to respond and make certain commitments (as well as reveal certain things about the site and how it runs heretofore not known). Within a few months, the scenes currently being filmed before your email or ones already in the can will have been shown. After that, I suggest you keep your eyes open to see how management is following through on its commitments.

Thank you again, bithebi, for doing this public service not only for the membership, but also for the site itself. We all benefit if the site continues to improve.

Beth, believe me, I know all about age catching up with oneself. But your health and taking care of it is the most important thing you have to do; not only for yourself, but also for Steve and the kids. So get whatever 'doctoring" you need, knowing that you will be in my prayers. As for us, we'll be here, awaiting your return. Love ya'!!!

Age always seems to catch up with us (if you live long enough)...been there, done that, and still doing that. Not what I thought retirement was going to be like. Just get the "doctoring" you need, and know we love you very much. :smiley-love001:

Dear Beth,

As much as I'm going to miss you on the forum, my friend Robb is 100% correct. Take care of yourself first and then rejoin us when you're back to drool with us over the hot guys that we all love!
