What's Life Like in New York City?

Thanks for the pictures Mike!! I see you took a photo of a hottie looking at his phone LOL

Thank you for the pictures Mikey. Another beautiful summer's day in the Big Apple. :)

Yes, it really was Tampa. But the heat and humidity will be back this week. So I took advantage of a great day to be outside yesterday. :sun:

Oh... I know a thing or two about heat and humidity. So does Mark. And David I'm sure. haha

And the seasons, they go round and round

This is a shot I took in my neighborhood in early April.

And a couple I took this morning, July 17th.

Three months from now in October, it will be totally different again. The seasons do go round and round on the carousel of life.

“And the seasons, they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, we can only look
Behind, from where we came
And go round and round and round, in the circle game”

Joni Mitchell composed in 1966.

Actually, in the last few years September and the first half of October have as hot as July & August. The fact that day light is much less makes it more bearable. Of course this is the result of global warming, which in turn adds more energy to the atmosphere so there are also more extreme cold periods but less frequent than hot periods * more extreme weather as well.

Thanks Mike! Love seeing pictures from other areas. I admit sometimes I browse Realtor.com or Zillow checking out houses for sale just to see how things are built in different parts of the country, from construction and architecture to what they have for plantings.

Today was a long day for me as I work on Mondays and Wednesdays and so I was up before 7 AM, and after work I took the subway to Penn Station on West 34th Street and walked to Ninth Avenue to meet my family for a birthday dinner for a relative. It was a hot sticky day today and I needed to walk three long Avenue blocks as somehow the subway left me off at Sixth Ave, (Avenue of the Americas), but I did think of the forum and Tampa’s thread here and I stopped to take some pics along the way. :001_rolleyes:

The restaurant was in a very new complex on the West Side called, Manhattan West. This is from Wikipedia:

“ Manhattan West is a 7-million-square-foot (650,000 m2) mixed-use development by Brookfield Properties, built as part of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment.[4] The project spans 8-acres and features four office towers, one boutique hotel, one residential building, 225,000 square feet (20,900 m2) of retail space[5] and a 2.5-acre (1 hectare) public plaza.[6][7] The project was built on a platform over Penn Station storage tracks along Ninth Avenue between 32nd and 33rd Streets.[8][5]

The project is bordered by Tenth Avenue and the Hudson Yards mega-development to the west[9] and Ninth Avenue and the Moynihan Train Hall to the east.[5] The taller west tower extends 995 feet (303 m), and is one of the tallest buildings in New York City.[10] The project was largely completed in 2021, and held its grand opening on September 28, 2021.[11]”

After we finished dinner and had birthday cake, on the way back to the subway I took a few shots of Manhattan West.

Thank you, Mike for your beautiful night time pictures.

Wow. It's beautiful. Did you, or have you ever eaten in the restaurant?

I hadn’t but my sister-in-law and her niece had. It was Mediterranean food and it was delicious. I googled a pic of the interior and a sample of the dips which we all shared.

Having lived in Israel I can verify it is good.

Montague Street, Sunday July 24, 2022

I was out earlier this morning getting some stuff to make for lunch for work tomorrow, and was on Montague Street, the main shopping and restaurant street in Brooklyn Heights. It is only four blocks long from Borough Hall on Court Street which separates Brooklyn Heights from Downtown Brooklyn, to the Promenade to the west, which overlooks Brooklyn Bridge Park and the East River.

I saw this on one of the public trash barrels, under the street sign.

This is the line from the song where Bob Dylan mentions Montague Street.

“ I lived with them on Montagüe Street
In a basement down the stairs
There was music in the cafés at night
And revolution in the air”

I also wanted to show this very trendy popular bakery/coffee shop on Montague Street which opened in the last few months. Every time I walk past in the morning there is a line outside waiting to get in. I can’t picture that any bakery or coffee is worth standing outside on line for, particularly on a 90 degree morning. But to each their own.

" I can’t picture that any bakery or coffee is worth standing outside on line for, particularly on a 90 degree morning. " Nor I but any none of them might say the same thing nof me and my obsession of you know what!

Exactly and that is why I followed up by saying, “ But to each their own”, which is similar to what I just posted on the Ayden Troy thread about why it is important to ME for the models to be believably straight. Again, individual preference is what makes the world go round.
