What's Life Like in New York City?

Thank you (spelled out for you) for great pictures . I use to go to such ships as the Haifa Port Meteorologist to give and get information & check their equipment. Asiit turns out that was where my then wife and I got our cancers.

Thank you for your complement and for spelling out Thank you. Both are appreciated. :001_smile:

I love how in recent years New York City has taken great advantage of the waterways which are the reason New York City and other major cities came into existence. And now for $2.75 you can travel from as far north as Soundview in The Bronx to as far south, (and east), as Rockaway where I was yesterday, on a clean, scenic and efficient means of travel.

I was back in the theater district today to see a matinee on this July 4th weekend.

And Times Square was packed with tourists.

Thank you guys. The show and dinner were fun and I loved the energy in the city. Two years ago when the streets were empty, I didn’t go into midtown for over a year myself. Some people in the media and some folks I talked to told me that New York City was finished as a place where people would gather. I knew that was preposterous. We went through a horrible plague but I knew we would be back and it now does feel like we are back.

After a couple of busy days for me, taking the ferry out to Rockaway Beach and going to a Broadway show and dinner, today will be a day to remain inside with my A/C on watching the Yankees and then checking out Netflix or Prime or probably just getting lost in YouTube videos until bedtime.

But as I was out this morning, I noticed some pretty flowers right on my block in Brooklyn.

Nice flower, thank you Mike for sharing.

I love hydrangeas! Especially the blues and purples. Thanks Mikey! It was a treat to see them today.

My pleasure! They bring back wonderful memories of a much beloved great-aunt of mine from childhood. She always had many hydrangeas in her garden. :)

Brooklyn Bridge Park - July 10, 2022 - Part 1

Today has been an unusually comfortable July day in New York City, with temps just above 80 degrees F, with low humidity. As it is such a comfortable day and the Yankees are not playing until tonight, I decided to take the short walk from my apartment to Brooklyn Bridge Park, less than a ten minute walk… I only explored the area near me today and did not walk the entire 1.3 miles of the trail wrapping around the New York City waterfront.

New York City offers many waterfront parks throughout the five boroughs and I think that Brooklyn Bridge Park is among the nicest.

By the way, in the following pic across the East River on the Manhattan side you can see an older building called Castle Clinton.

From Wikipedia:

“Castle Clinton or Fort Clinton, previously known as Castle Garden, is a circular sandstone fort located in Battery Park, in Manhattan, New York City. Built from 1808 to 1811, it was the first American immigration station, where more than 8 million people arrived in the United States from 1855 to 1890.”

And inside Castle Clinton is the place to buy tickets to Liberty Island & Ellis Island. There are many scam artists in Battery Park selling phony tickets, but the real ones are sold in this building only.
