Time to give the new Director a chance

I appreciate the comments made by Paul and Ian. I feel that way too much has been made of the new director's style including implications that the models do not like working for him and even that they are being forced to say nice things about him. The fact is that every time there has been a change in directors or otherwise, there has been resistance from some members. The fact is I have had no issue with the new directer as such and I have not seen any issues with his directing. I was getting tired of Clay's work quite frankly. It never really varied at all.

I am sorry that some people seem to feel this change is a reason to leave but there are plenty of websites out there showing porno and I am sure they will find something that better suits their needs and preferences. For myself Broke Straight Boys and one other site have been the two I have subscribed to for the longest simply because while I do not necessarily care for every shoot or every model, over all the quality of the models and the quality of the work is more than satisfactory. In fact both of the sites I have subscribed to the longest allow a good amount of interaction with the models and I have to say that is a strong selling point for me. I feel like I have gotten to know some of the models here and I consider them as very special people not simply a slab of meat. From the interaction I have had with them I feel I have a better idea about who they are and frankly feel that with some of them I would enjoy sitting down to an evening of good food, drink and conversation.

That's my dos centavos.

Umm nobody is being forced to say nice things about him. We will have way more of a variety of scenes especially once the weather gets nicer. I always wanted that but had a hard time to get Clay to do that. Also quality is improved greatly with Johnny and his tremendous amount of experience. I hope you will stay.

Well, after 3-1/2 years of being a Broke Straight Boys member, I've just cancelled my membership. It's no secret that I'm no fan of verbose director's (a la David from 1.0) and now that it seems that Broke Straight Boys is headed back in that direction I feel it's time for me to bid adieu.

Let me say a few things though in parting: first, I love seeing the models interviews and them sharing their personal sides. I especially looked forward to the episodes they made with Shay but that was because they were separate "Behind The Scenes" episodes where I think they belong. I never liked hearing the director's talking ad nauseum throughout the sex episodes because when I watch a sex episode I want to see SEX. PERIOD.

The one thing I saw repeated throughout this thread was "give the new director a chance." Why? We did that during Broke Straight Boys 1.0, and then 1.5 (when David continuously yapped and then started throwing in numerous racist comments). And then we were told to be patient during Broke Straight Boys 2.0 and then 2.5. And now here we are at Broke Straight Boys 3.0 and we're just repeating the same ol' thing. How long will this director last, six months? And then what, give the next director a chance too? This is supposed to be a professionally run website. I would think the basics of directing the episodes would already have been learned by the powers that be. I would think they would explain that to the new hires.

And it's not just here. I just watched the new episode from College Dudes which has the same director blabbing non-stop throughout that episode too.

So, no thanks. I expected my membership dues to go towards hot, amateur straight guys engaged in hot sex, not listening to some off-camera guy give details about how much fun he had fucking a cantaloupe.

I'm sure that news of my departure won't make a difference here or there and will probably even have a few saying "good riddance," but I refuse to spend money on idle, unwanted conversation. Even having said all this, I honestly do wish you all well.

Cheers ...

Sorry you are choosing to leave. If you don't like the babbling why don't you just skip through it? It is there for the members that like it and if you don't like it you can just forward through it. Change is never easy but I think it is good that we are finally seeing the directors personality which we didn't get too much of that from Clay.

Thanks Paul for your positive response. Not everybody feels the need to be so negative so I'm glad that deedeetub feels he needs to move on and find something better.

I agree with you. I mean sometimes there are those who you just cannot please and frankly, they just bring the whole mood down.

You hired him,so I would expect nothing less than words of praise. I'm a cynic with respect to the models saying nice things issue.

Variety of scene will be nice, assuming your mentioning of the weather means out doors. If that's the case then make sure the sound is top notch. No use having all that prattling if you can not hear what is being said. I'm glad you think quality has improved greatly, but that is in the mind of the viewer and isn't objectively so just because you think it is.

I have no idea what your total membership is. So I'm guessing the loss of a few membeers is no big deal to you. And I don't know how many members leaving would cause you concern. A lot of people said they were leaving because of bb, but not nearly as many actually did. However, if you go back to condom only, my guess is you will have more leaving as a result.

1. Good point about fast forwarding, but why should we lose 20% of scene time to prattling which takes away from the sex. If he wants to prattle for 7 minutes add that to the length of what would be a normal sex scene.

2. I don't pay to see the director's personality, I pay to see the sex. Nor do I pay to hear about the director's exploits including fucking a cantaloup. As I have said previously on another thread, Clay had the personality of a rock. David Adamson had a great personality but was a Chatty Cathy. I've always maintained we need a director with David's personality and Clay's brevity. So far, this guy has neither. Perhaps if, as you and sha so often say, you like to hear from members, and given the overwhelming negative reaction to Johnny not just here but the comments on the scene page (and by the way editing the bulk of the negative comments there out is really a poor choice), then maybe you could as I have said smooth out his rough edges and have his personality shine through in a less abasive and briefer manner. I don't mind some bantering if done graciously and not like a smart-ass, but not 7 minutes worth.

Stowe1, let it be said (by me anyway) that, I don't always agree with your points of view, however, I am a great admirer of the way you play the "Devil's Advocate." You are tenacious to say the least! Like wise, when you praise...it's like receiving the Nobel Prize!

If you think he's only yapping at the beginning of the episode, then you haven't watched any of the actual releases. Watch the episode with Ian and Tate.

Paul, how anyone could be negative about you is beyond my experience or understanding.

I wholeheartedly concur, juanjo!!
