SAD NEWS-D&E/BluMedia

Personal opinion, this is a thread for expressions of grief and condolences. If you wish to discuss other things, please honor Dustin's memory by creating another thread.

Absolutely correct. Grief and redemption. I hope, as you do, that his tragic death doesn't go unnoticed and forgotten. His family should have justice.

I am so, so STUNNED to hear and read about Dustin's horrible passing.

First: To David, Eddie, Tyler, Monica and all the Team members at Florida, I extend to you by deepest condolences. He was more that Just "a Model" to you. He was a dear friend you loved and cared for. I can't imagine what you are all going through.

Second: David if you are able to find out about his family I would be more than willing to join in whatever support efforts you and the company decide upon.

Third: Should D& E/BluMedia decide to start a memorial fund in Dustin's name where said funds could go help young adults get help when in need, Let me be the first one to sign on Board. As tragic as his loss was to all of us, if we can work together to establish a fund to help you adults, then perhaps his loss can still have some meaning. We need to come together to prevent this from happening again.

As for comments regarding his passing, I believe those need to go in a new thread.

Dustin, we thank you for allowing us to share a few moments together.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE DEAR FRIEND!

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH US,

VICEKID

I don't even know what to say... I signed up here after seeing him. I know a lot of people didn't enjoy his performances, but he was always my favorite.

Did we get permission to release his given name? I know the story is obviously public record, but I'd hate to see his image tarnished if his family wasn't aware of his extracurricular activities... Especially at a time like this.

I so agree with you on that Rifle. I have opinions on what percentage of blame goes where myself but I'm just not ready to go there yet. Others of you are. And that's fine. Nothing wrong with that at all. And I'm definitely not saying that you should not allowed to vent in whatever way works for you. This is a democracy in here of course but I just think that this thread should be for condolences, tributes and allowing people to remember Andrew.

There are bound be police reports and media reports that will be controversial. I think it just makes sense to move the blame scenarios and followup investigations into the circumstances of his death to another thread.

Sorry I know you guys are extremely careful with the models' privacy and security... Not sure why I felt the need to clarify that. Definitely no disrespect intended!

Agreed. You'll get no more opinion from me on this thread. It was probably inappropriate to do so in the first place.

Here is something from a gravestone on top of a mountain near my parents in Wales.

He never failed to do his best
His heart was true and tender.
He struggled hard for those he loved
And left them to remember.

When I was a mere 10 year old lad my grandad used to take me up to this gravestone and tell me the story of the verse. Basically it was about a man who worked his fingers to the bone to raise a family, but his kids didn't appreciate it until he died. What's this got to do with Dustin - I don't know and probably nothing, but at least he'll be up there now looking down at us all and probably screaming at the future Broke Straight Boys models "Don't bottom for any amount". RIP XX

LOL Jon. That would be our Dustin alright.:001_smile:

For me what this verse says in this situation is that we don't realize how close a bond we have with the models and other people in our lives until they're taken away from us. I made no secret of the fact that Dustin was not one of my favorite performers. So I'm shocked all the more by just how deeply affected I am by his passing. Why does this feel every bit like a death in the family? Maybe because it is? And we cared for Andrew the human being far more than any of us could have imagined, prior to this tragic event.

In Dustin's memory

I don't know what the rest of you will do to honor Dustin, but The story about him taking home the abandoned kitty to his momma really touched me. we have a sanctuary around here that takes care of abandoned Dogs and cats so I just went there today and made a 500 dollar donation and signed it as Dustin Michaels ( I didn't know anyone named Andrew Grande but, I did see some really great videos that Dustin Michaels was in). I was saving it to buy christmas presents but I have two jobs anyway so I'm sure I can come up with enough for christmas presents when the time comes.

I know what I will do to honor him. It's planned for tomorrow afternoon at the lawyer's office.

David, whether or not his parents need to be reminded of his affiliation with the membership of Broke Straight Boys rests solely with you. At such an occasion, many parents might find it disturbing or hurtful. I'm sure you carry our condolences with you and are prepared to express them should you feel them appropriate. It may be that your personal expression to them is sufficient and we must be satisfied that it bears the collective weight of all our grief.

As to a satisfactory tribute to him, surely among this membership there is a positive idea we can join behind. There is so much strong feeling here, but we are not celebrating the feeling; the feeling ended with Dustin's life. There is controversy over his death, but that was less than three days ago and all the details are not yet known and any presumption of knowledge is only that, presumption based on incomplete evidence. Our tribute as a membership is to a young man who, for a goodly part of his time with us, laughed and enjoyed what he did, brought pleasure and fun to most of us, and deserves our respect. Surely there is one positive thing that we can all agree to that reflects those elements we all agree on. It doesn't have to scream Broke Straight Boys or Dustin. It just has to quietly say his name.

This is so sad for such a young guy to die in this senseless way. Yes, I was kinda shocked by the physical change in Andrew as had been mentioned. You think why would he attempt to swallow evidence in full view of cops and a camera but I guess sometimes we panic in times of stress and fear. Not one of my favorite models because of his participation attitude but I hope the family can financially handle all arrangements that need to be done. My condolences

Thank you for posting that beautiful tribute Hunter. Is he the same Giovanni that we have over here? It looks like him.

Has Giovanni been given the funeral arrangement info that David posted here in this thread? He mentions in his tribute that he doesn't know anything about the funeral arrangements and it so disheartening for him.

It's truely been tearing me up inside the past few days to see my friends so affected by something like this I didn't know Andrew in the slightest but my friends who did are really upset and it hurts me to see my friends so devastated...
