Wow, did Duke ever have a shocking scare against heavy underdog Syracuse in today's Noon ACC Tournament Quarterfinal, which was Syracuse's third tourney game in three days but only Duke's first game of the tournament thanks to its double bye. Plus Syracuse's top player Buddy Boeheim was suspended for one game sitting on the bench. Plus Duke had beaten Syracuse twice this season WITH Buddy Boeheim had lost to Duke by over 30 points both games. Guess what? Syracuse led the entire first half, well into the second half before Duke's far superior talent finally caught them and Duke finally won by 9 points I believe. There were lots of stunned frightened Duke fans today, but bottom line Duke did advance.
It was a heart thumping scary afternoon for me. But in the last few minutes Duke pulled away. As the saying goes in NCAA post season play, “Survive and Advance”. And more good news regarding sports……see the following post.

I just heard MLB settled and there will be a full 162 game season.

It was even closer than I initially thought as Duke won by nine points, but outscored Syracuse 10-0 to end the game. That meant that with only a minute or two in the game, Syracuse was still ahead. Every team that wins the national championship as we both hope Duke does has to find and be able to struggle to win a surprisingly challenging game like this.

Yes, tonight's ACC Tournament television coverage did a relatively detailed report on the baseball agreement. Season starts on April 7 (halfway between the original March 31 start date and the Commissioner's postponement to April 14), full 162 game season (conceding that issue to the players), DH for the National League and a 12 team post season. Both the owners and the players immediately ratified the new collective bargaining agreement as soon as it was reached. More financial information contained in the new agreement will come out in the next few days, but it appears that both sides were compromising on those issues. I agree, it was great news!

Baseball to fans is part of the rhythm of our spring, summer and early autumn evenings and Sunday afternoons. Baseball is a 162 game season and it is there most every day between April and October. I don’t necessarily watch nine innings of every game but it is always on in the background. I’ve been watching Yankee baseball since I was a boy and expect to continue watching it all my life. Every regular season game is not a special event but it is part of the fabric of my life for basically half of every year. I don’t take sides in the labor negotiations. I just want to get it back and am very pleased that the two sides worked out their differences and beginning a week later than scheduled but on April 7th, baseball will be back.

As am I, even though we stop being on the same side as we are in college basketball!

Great but challenging ACC tournament semifinal for Duke. In yesterday's quarterfinal, Syracuse scared Duke for 38 minutes, and in tonight's semifinal Miami scared Duke for 39 minutes, but once again Duke prevailed. Actually these last two games may more help than hurt Duke for the upcoming NCAA tournament as they are being tested until the ends of the games and are passing the tests! Tomorrow Duke plays the ACC tourney final versus the winner of North Carolina/Virginia Tech, which should start shortly.

Thrilling down to the wire win. And much as Paulo Banchero said after the game, I want North Carolina tomorrow night!

Big upset. Virginia Tech thoroughly beat North Carolina and it will be Duke vs. Virginia Tech Saturday night. Definitely a David versus Goliath. Looking forward to the championship game.

Duke may meet North Carolina in the NCAA tournament, but not tomorrow night! Virginia Tech smoked North Carolina tonight 72-59! Kind of gives credit to Duke for surviving its own two close calls, which Duke survived!

And for the first time in a long time your Mets appear to be a superior team to my Yanks. The Yankees have a lot of work to do before opening day at first base, short stop, pitching and perhaps center field. It will an interesting less than a month until Opening Day at Yankee Stadium, but I am thrilled that it will be happening.

You could come over to Boston or travel to San Diego!

Duke got their asses thoroughly kicked by Virginia Tech last night for the ACC Championship. Duke has not been giving Coach K the send off that us die hard fans had hoped for first last Saturday in his final home game and now tonight in his final ACC Tournament. One more chance starting next weekend in his final NCAA Tournament. Hoping for the storybook ending beginning next week.

Sorry for your loss but next week you will win.

I woke up to block buster trade for Yankees, after learning Sunday, Duke a #2 Seed in NCAA Tournament next week, plus Tom Brady unretiring. Wild day in sports. But first trying to get a few more hours sleep before a Monday workday.

Tom Brady unretiring. There are few people who know when to call it quits in all fields of endeavor, ideally when they are near the top.

You have a good point br. It has been said that an athlete dies two deaths, one at the end of their career and the second at the end of their life. A player still feels like he has the same skill sets as he did when he was younger. Tom Brady is 44 years old, a young man in life and in the business and career world, but as an athlete he is well past the age of a football player. He might still have the skill set to be a productive and excellent quarterback, but there is an inevitable decline as your athleticism wanes.

Being we are on a porn site, I have to mention that being a gay porn star, the age of “death” in your career is a lot younger. We have a couple of 18 year olds on this site currently, and Ashton who is on the site now at 22, has already been on other sites and is considered a veteran. Then I think of Richie West who in his recent YouTube video said that he is now 24 and he wants to leave the business on his own terms, before he is told he has to. That’s got to be a terrible ego jolt to a 24 year old to be told they are too old. Of course there are exceptions like Tom Brady in football and porn stars who thrive in their late thirties, but for the most part, no one wants to be told they are too old to continue in a business that they once excelled in, be it Tom Brady at 44 or Richie West at 24 or for that matter people in the world of business at age 74. I do agree with Richie West that it is best to go out on your own terms, rather than to be forced out.

Good post. While there are numerous exceptions, in general gay porn is a career for 18-22 year olds. The exceptions age well into their mid to upper 20s, but they do not undo the general rule.
