Thought I'd start another music thread, this time about member's favourite boybands. Not really sure who were the first boybands but I suppose you could go as far as the Beatles. My first clip is from former British band Blue. And yes, another boyband where a guy came out of the closet. LOL

This one is for Mike
Thanks you Jon. You know that The Beatles are my all time favorite musical act, and while they were cute young lads when they began, I don't think of them as a "boy band". The term was invented decades after them, and to my way of thinking it implies that they were put together more because they are cute, more than for their musical talent.

As I write this, I would have to say that "The Monkees" might have been the first band that was put together by a casting director to star on a television show, and as the show became popular, we discovered how good their music was too. So I will nominate the ultra cute Davey Jones and The Monkees to the "Boy Band Hall of Fame".

Great ideos Jon and Beth. Thank you! I think we all needed something in here to make us smile right now. :)

While I didn't consider Herman's Hermits exactly a boy band either, I sure had a crush on Peter Noone, (crooked teeth and all)!

In reply to Mike, I realise that the terminology Boy Band is kinda recent but the reason I chose the Beatles was because I saw some footage of thousand of young girls weeping like mad at their concerts. I like the Backstreet Boys because I have the horn for most of them, especially Nick.

Does ACDC count as a boy band...lol

Well, Angus still dresses as a schoolboy even though he's in his 50s

Did you know that tradition started because he'd go straight from school to gigs and didn't have time to change his clothes, and his dead ant thing (rolling around on the floor kicking his legs in the air) started when he accidentally tripped on a lead and pretended he meant it, although I'm not sure if he still does that now he's 50+, and....ok I'll shut up and skulk off to the more appropriate music threads :001_smile:

I just want to say one word and one number..... EMBLEM 3
If you don't know who they are or how hot they look.... google them!

Thank you Erik & Ms. K for enlightening me. Watching their performance left me "wanting more", so I did some research. :001_tongue:

Something tells me we will be hearing more from this trio. I thought their vocals in this one were rather flat. And that they were playing it safe by not really trying to own the stage and belt out the tune. Nonetheless you can se that they have talent...and looks! haha

Top tip - Go on Youtube later and check out this years Brit Awards ceremony clips. New single from Justin Timberlake, live performances for One Direction, Robbie Williams and loads more. Top UK single is Adelle with Skyfall. Adelle is currently LA rehearsing for the Oscars
