The retirement of Phil Colins yesterday has left me a bit melancholy. He has SO many great songs. But this one especially is a favorite of mine. While I'm pretty sure I've posted this song earlier in the thread, I figured I'd post this version now.

I may be among the very few who are Opera fans. I just saw The ending of one of my all time favorites The Magic Flute. One thing one notices is the great shape these singers have to be in and some are so hot even in their costumes.

Operas are hours long & I listen when I first get up for about an hour, Today I started Carmen which is 2.5 hours. TY Tampanmfor the interest. I got my interest from my parents as did my bro but it did not pass on to my kids.

If you can find certain songs from operas as stand alone performances, I think you could more easily post them here. For myself I don't mind listening to some great singers performing in Italian, French or Spanish.

The biggest issue is time && my eyes but I will try, TY for your interest, Tampa/

I hear you. Who wants to spend more time searching for photos or videos online when we're already doing other things along the same lines? haha

I am watching the fabulous award winning documentary called, “Summer of Soul”, telling the story and showing performances from the 1969 Harlem Summer Festival in Mount Morris Park in Harlem. It was the same summer that the whites kids were up in Bethel, New York at the Woodstock Festival.

This is the performance from the film of Sly and the Family Stone. I saw them at my college gym, but I had forgotten that they were a multi racial group with a white drummer and sax player. This is “Everyday People”. Different strokes for different folks. It was 53 years ago this summer. Great song!

Back when I was in college the original version of this song was released and very popular. I had a bad case of unrequited love for a straight dorm buddy named John. This song reminds me of how I felt about him. One night after drinking beer downtown and we came back to the dorm, I remember exactly where we were and I said, “I love you John”. And he answered, “I know”. Last I heard he was married and a teacher in New Jersey. He is probably retired today, possibly with grand kids. But John, I still love you.

Here is the live performance from the Central Park concert in 1981 of that powerful song.

Saturday was the eightieth birthday of Paul McCartney, quite simply a part of the greatest musical artists of my lifetime, The Beatles.

This is Paul at age 22 when many of us were introduced to The Boys for the first time in America on live TV.

While they were great there are others equally great. As with porn models it varies from person to person who they consider the greatest.

All we can offer are our own personal opinions and preferences and for me the Beatles are my preference is music, as Jake is my preference in porn models. No right or wrong, just what works for us. :001_smile:

Good, I fully agree with you. I just wanted others who might be new to the Forum to know this.
