Members favourite music

Ms. K, I loved Pat Benatar a lot but I think I liked Joan Jett too... They were both great artists. I used to party with their music a lot. There was something about their music and AC/DC, Deaf Leopard, Twisted Sister, and Quiet Riot playing that brought out the best in me in those days... If I was hustling a game of pool I loved to put on one of their songs. Something about the music and the base instruments that allowed me to block out all other distractions and I could pretty much make any shot on the table with out missing. Both Pat Benatar and Joan Jett were playing when I hit my first 280 plus ball run in straight pool. LOL I haven't played that game in a few years... It was a great voyeur game too with all of those cute guys bent over the pool tables showing off their asses. (I guess I am referring to the E-club on base. It doesn't happen sop frequently in the civilian sector. LOL):thumbup1:

Jayman,

WTF is that video? It has as much over effort of lycra wearing acrobatic guys and over makeup blow dried hair women as those old black and white silent movies. What hilarem!

Thanks Jayman for bringing back all those kick ass songs. While I'm older than you, and I was in my mid thirties when those songs were popular, I was the manager of a shipping and receiving warehouse where I hired kids to work after school and during the summer. We had a crew of high school kids, aged 16-18 who were heavy metal freaks, with the long hair and some jewelry, but no body piercing's or anything too extreme, as these were all middle class kids who lived with their families and did have limitations.

But AC/DC, Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister were always on the radio at work. These are great teen anthems for guys that age who have all their emerging testosterone churning inside them, and these groups provided a non sexual release, as the Who and Zeppelin and Jethro Tull did for me and kids my age, back then.

As you shared I Want To Rock, by Twisted, I want to include their other wildly popular hit of the mid eighties, and the videos are a hoot too.

Thanks Mike and "Were Not Going to Take It" was their best song. But I couldn't find the original on Youtube. So, Went with "I want ot Rock "as I loved both... Yeah, I was quite the metal head in those days. I also liked Hughey Lewis, Bruce Springstine, Billy Joel, Queen, Reo Speed Wagon, and Genesis in those days. Metal always perked me up. Don't ask how but I always seemed to study better listening to those songs too.

Love love love the Imelda May. She's a new fav of mine, now, too!

I've been trying to figure out that Portishead song for a while... Never knew who sang that one, and I love it.

The Necromantix is awesome for the video alone, but the music is totally fun! So gothic!

LOVE the Alkaline Trio song! So very Deidra;)

The Smiths and Joy Division are favs from way back.

All of this is really great stuff, but it becomes fantastic in the context of you and your life, who you are. I need to start making playlists of my friend's favorite songs. How fun would that be, to channel my peops while doing the mundane, like cleaning the toilets or folding laundry??? Hmmm, I think I wanna feel like Deidra today... I might be onto something here.... Love it, love it, love it!!! xoxoxo

Nearly a year ago, in this thread, I mentioned that due to my son Erik, (who is in Graduate School at OCU for Musical Theater), my taste in music was bending toward opera and broadway. If any of you are interested in looking it up, he has several clips on Youtube under the name 505. He was the groups' director in 2009/10, while he was still in Albuquerque. The group has won several National Competitions over the last few years.

Never Give Up!

This song made it into my head after listening to Mikeyank's post on the "What Would You Give Up to Keep Undie" thread.... I just can't get it out of my head now. I remember sitting on the bus in middle school. The unrequited love of my life rode the same bus and when this song would come on, I would die a little inside because I loved him soooooooo much. I loved him from the first day of middle school until the day I moved away from my hometown. Fortunately, senior year in high school, we hooked up a couple of times and I got a taste of the man that he was... and he was delicious:)

So, going back to 1981....

Jeez LL - Heard the first notes from his mouth and immediately thought of Leo Sayer and then saw the guys pic and very similar when Leo was younger.

This is honestly one of my all time favorite songs! I just love love love Jimmy Somerville! He has such a wonderful voice! It plays frequently on my iPod!

I'm not sure if the story was about himself. Will have to do some research but agree, i'ts one of my all time greatest songs too.

Another two gale male singer/songwriters that I love are Mark Almond

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgBcEbbiSNY - don't think this is one of his own but a brilliant performance.

and Rufus Wainwright

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUeL8SGWwSU

Technically brilliant.
