Going back to the music theme, this is one I found completely by accident the other day whilst looking for some Led Zeppelin stuff. It's Sandy Denny who is the only guest ever to appear on a Led Zep album on the track Battle of Evermore from Led Zep IV.

This track is with the fantastic Strawbs - unfortunately better remembered for Union Man but made much better songs.

Great song. I think of my relationship with my brother when ever I hear this song. He inspires me so much ever day watching him over come adversities that we normally take for granted.

Dearest Jayman,

Thankyou for giving me one more reason for loving this song. It always makes my eyes a little cloudy because it is so very inspirational by its nature. But then, I love Bette Middler. She has always sung from her heart!

Another favorite is "From a Distance"

Another classic from Gershwin's Porgy and Bess

I remember in the days when Burt Parks was synonymous with the Miss America Pageant in the mid 1960's and I heard a winning talent contestant sing the following and later became Miss America. I cannot recall the contestant but her song has become a perpetual favorite of mine.

Written by Gershwin, it is performed now by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong with his trumpet leading off;

The performances are nothing short of iconic.

Sincerely,

In an earlier thread, about sex in public places, I relayed my story of having sex on the dance floor of the bar where I hung out in college. This song is one that takes me back to 1988, hanging with the girls on the dance floor, flipping our hair, shaking our booties, checking out the hot guys, looking for a hook up...

How about a blast from the past....

...and also a goal to achieve!

WTF is Andy Bell wearing!

Not only was the music by Stealers Wheel a blast from the past, but so were Gerry Rafferty’s low-waisted white bell-bottoms. I loved watching guys in those types of pants: they showed everything you had, both front and back. They were the antithesis of today’s sagging - see Mikeyank’s thread.

Ms. K, I loved Pat Benatar a lot but I think I liked Joan Jett too... They were both great artists. I used to party with their music a lot. There was something about their music and AC/DC, Deaf Leopard, Twisted Sister, and Quiet Riot playing that brought out the best in me in those days... If I was hustling a game of pool I loved to put on one of their songs. Something about the music and the base instruments that allowed me to block out all other distractions and I could pretty much make any shot on the table with out missing. Both Pat Benatar and Joan Jett were playing when I hit my first 280 plus ball run in straight pool. LOL I haven't played that game in a few years... It was a great voyeur game too with all of those cute guys bent over the pool tables showing off their asses. (I guess I am referring to the E-club on base. It doesn't happen sop frequently in the civilian sector. LOL):thumbup1:
