Just glanced at my Itunes list 5,336 songs from African/Zulu and lady Blacksmith to World Sounds and Jamaican Reggae. Steel Drums and Country and some Rock and classical biggies thrown in for good measure, so I guess that means I am eclectic in my choices of musical entertainment. However, with Erik in the house, I sort of lean toward the Musical Theater/ Opera side of the scale at the moment.

Great band, Jon, but this is the original lineup. They were so good! My big bro had all their albums. Sigh......

Christ! The pilot forgot to fuel up their fucking plane!!! Makes you forgetting your underdrawers seem pretty minor, eh?

One of my fave Lynyrd Skynyrd songs.

Thanks for that Paris dude, yes another great LS song and yes it does put my memory lapses into perspective. Your link sent me to this link which kinda relates to me and my weekly travels.

Good choices Mark, didn't Paul Simon have a dabble with African music at some time in his career ?

Regarding opera, there has just been a talent show similar to American Idol and other shows that want the public to vote to gain Simon Cowell even more millions. It was called Pop Star to Opera Star and featured pop stars from various genres singing opera. Some of the acts did very well indeed. I'm not sure if you can see it in USA but it its here

Another fave in the same vain. You need to download some of these. You could have a toe tappin' time on your commute!

Those were the good old days when everyone shared their glaucoma medication. Friendly, helpful folk......

Thanks for the link.!! Yes P Simon did do some work in that genre, specifically with Lady Black Mambazo, a fine album by my opinion.

Jeez I'm gonna bump this thread up just because there is some good sounds in the posts. This evening I was thinking about my ex bf and although he hurt me this song reminds me of him and I hope it reminds you if you've ever been hurt by your b/f, g/f or husband/wife - see how politically correct I am now..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q4U2gR2dDg

I have included the lyrics below - I love this as I love/loved my ex..

In the beginning
I believed every word that you said
Now that you're gone
My world is in shreds
Oh you loved me and left me
You took all the things that I needed so bad
I'm standing here wondering
Where is the love that I had

CHORUS:
Give me silver, blue and gold
The color of the sky I'm told
My rainbow is overdue

In the beginning
There was something of love that was mine
Now that it's gone
Whoa I'm crying
Oh the time that it takes for a love to grow cold
Is a wonder to me
I'm walking around with my head hanging down
Tell me where is she

CHORUS

Don't forsake me 'cause I love you (2x)

CHORUS (2x)

Now give me silver, blue and gold
The color of the sky I'm told
My rainbow is overdue, yeah

Oh don't forsake me 'cause I love you
Don't forsake me 'cause I love you

========================

In my case change the she to a he lol xx

I found this super track in my late dad's collection. Aussie band Python Lee Jackson with specail appearance from Rod Steward. As if you could mistake that voice.

or a more modern version with the legendry David Gilmore and John Paul Jones and Rod of course. Max volume and a good hifi for this version is a must.

Every day I spend my time
Drinkin' wine, feelin' fine
Waitin' here to find the sign
That I can understand
Yes I am.

In the days between the hours
Ivory towers, bloody flowers
Push their heads in to the air
I don't care if I ever know
There I go

Don't push your love too far
Your wounds won't leave a scar
Right now is where you are
In a broken dream
Did someone bow their head ?
Did someone break the bread ?
Good people are in bed
Before nine o'clock.

On the pad before my eyes
Paper cries, tellin' lies
The promises you gave
From the grave of a broken heart
Hmm

Every day I spend my time
Drinkin' wine, feelin' fine
Waitin' here to find the sign
That I can understand
Yes I am. Oh.

I sit here in my lonely room

Don't push your love too far
You know your wounds won't even leave a scar
Right now is where you are
In a broken dream
And don't you forget what I say

I had a hard time getting into the Go Go's. Their lips were sealed. LMAO :001_tt2::lol:

Thanks for reminding me of A-Ha, Jon... it's been YEARS since I thought of them, but their video, Take On Me, takes me right back to early High School.... It was such a great video, like nothing else at the time and I was glued to the screen every time it played on MTV!

And I have to admit here, that I waited and waited in front of the TV for the absolute beginning of MTV... saw the very first video ever aired the moment it was aired..., for those of you too young to know or care, it was the Buggles, Video Killed the Radio Star, in 1981. Damn, that makes me... :scared:
