That song was amazing, Miss Deidra...smoked filled bars, dangerous men hovering in dim corners, slender cigarette holders, glittering diamonds, crystal glasses splashed with two fingers of scotch...oh, what the hell, make that four fingers....

That was goose bumpingly beautiful...what I wouldn't give to be able to sing like that!

You and me both! I think to be a singer would be my dream job...

Anyone a fan of Latin Pop? Check out one of my favorite singers... La India, a Puerto Rican-born New Yorker. She started as a backup singer for a dance group called TKA, then did a bunch of singles, including "The Mexican", which was credited to Jellybean, and "I Can't Get No Sleep" by Masters at Work, and an album of freestyle dance music (I think that genre might have been specific to the East Coast of the US) in the late 80's, and Warner Brothers tried to make and market her as the Puerto Rican Madonna. She decided that wan't the career path she wanted and quit the label, and started performing and recording Spanish language music. She was nicknamed "The Princess of Salsa" by none other than the Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz. She's recorded several songs with Marc Anthony, and been nominated for both Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards. This is one of my favorite of her songs...

But check out her version of "Si Tu Eres Mi Hombre", which Celine Dion made famous as "The Power of Love",

"Ese Hombre", http://youtu.be/UkRzfMhMgrw

or "Vivir Lo Nuestro", with Marc Anthony. http://youtu.be/uIA0vaNzhOk

Even if you don't understand the words, they're all wonderful songs.

I used to love this song! (Hell, I STILL do!)

(Missile Command, anyone??? LOL) :anyone:

Great choice, Bob! For me, one of the fantastic things about this thread is the way it has me associating one song with another and another and sometimes I find gems I either didn't know existed or forgotten existed....this gem I didn't know existed...

ACDC...with Bon Scott and Steve Tyler, live...

This one's for Rbar:001_wub: (did I get it right Ms. K.?)

You sound like you need a bit of a cheer up and besides Jon Bon Jovi is always good for a bit of a perv, especially in the day....

I found this song purely by accident and wow isn't it so moving. Read some of the Youtube comments too - very moving.

Sometimes the songs you unexpectedly stumble upon, and take the time to really listen to the words, make you believe in magic even if it's only for a few minutes...

Summer's Almost Gone

I realized today that this is the last weekend of August, and it bought to mind a song by one of my all favorite groups, The Doors, with the sexy, sensuous Jim Morrison "crooning" this haunting love song, back when he was a "young lion".

(by the way Jon, I didn't see the add video button).

A slight detour from the usual music on this thread, but I found this tonight and thought you, Mike, might enjoy...

Such a sexy song. Unfortunately this version is far too short...

This 'oldie but a goodie' is especially for my Broke Straight Boys girlfriend besties...Beth, Lovelumps/Laura, Ms. K and Miss Deidra...just because I felt like it...

I would've liked to include some special boys, but I didn't want to embarrass anyone...you know being stuck with the girls and all...

The original...none of that crazy remix shit...oh my gosh...did I just say shit...that must be Beth's influence..lol
