Wow! you guys are posing many questions....LOL. We do fly and house the models and feed them while they model/work for our studio. The models get paid pending on what they are willing to do. For example...I had to pay Diesal more money to bottom as an incentive to "bottom"...LOL. If I told him I will pay him $300 to bottom...most likely he wouldn't do it...but I think I offered him $1500. For Diesal, $1500 is a lot of money...so he will at least try it...I take a gamble because I have no clue prior to that if he's going to like it or not...it ended up my gamble paid off and the scene went well...will he do it again..I don't know. But if we do have him bottom again...we have to pay him $$$$.
Dustin I offered him a lot of money on screen and off screen and there was no amount that was high enough to have him bottom. I actually offered him $4K (off camera) to bottom and he refused, he wouldn't even try it. Dustin, then told me he would "try" it for $10K...I laughed. passat, you have encapsulated a long argument that went on for months on the forum. Pretty much everyone knows that a lot of what's affirmed in the chit-chat is patently false, and most of the rest isn't altogether true. But the whole premise is so entertaining, the whole presentation is so home-made and friendly, the guys are so diverse and often surprising, that it doesn't matter if what or who they say they are is accurate or not.
Dave has said that they are interviewed thoroughly before they're seriously considered for a shoot. Obviously that includes blocking out in broad strokes a character for each of them to "play". The fact that they're trying to act and that some of them do a worse job than others is part of the fun...so let's have a party.
