Are they acting??

Is that an educated guess?

I have seen pictures, and don't let his age fool you. Either, that man could probably put a school boy to shame.

Thanks Baal, Jayman and Slim. I got to admit I really like it. You are right Slim it has a lot of challenges. Right now the big question is if the transition is going to be done with fat suits, etc. (really expensive) or going to be computer generated. (time consuming and expensive). Leaning toward the computer generated, which was my first thought. Slim you have come really close to what I an visioning. I especially want to do something with the religious zealot who is the CEO of the drug company. Thinking of having him almost angel-like appearing like a good guy. I should stop. This isn't what this site is about and Remi says I should really not be putting all this out there. My biggest challenge right now is to quit binging on fucking and sucking and actually do some work on this project. I keep telling myself I'm just celebrating and we won't be shooting until the Fall semester, but that is reminisent of the Tortoise and the Hare story to me somehow. Tomorrow morning I start thinking with my big head, but tonight my little head is in charge. Thanks again guys.

I hope Remi lets you keep us up on the progress now and then.

Re: your humongous little head. I've always fucked around till the last minute with peripheral stuff when I have a deadline on a creative project. I know that you can't do first class original work by the clock, you have to let the creative process evolve naturally. Sometimes I'm still eyeing the project laterally, from a distance, as the calendar pages tear themselves off and are blown away, and then, in a vertiginous last minute flash, suddenly the beginning elements fall into place and the project itself finally starts to tell me what it wants. And from that point on it has the major role in creating itself, I just listen to it and supply it with what it needs. One thing is sure, you can tell when any work of art has been too planned from the beginning, with no room for strokes of improvisation. I teach this stuff at university and have always told my best students not to stop designing too soon. Working to a plan that's written in stone takes the shine off. Might as well hand it over to someone else to do and get on with binging and little heading.

My little head says "See. No prob. Let's party." My big head is full of stuff like "He who hesitates..." "Inspiration is 99% perspiration" etc. Your approach seems to be what I always do when I have to write a paper. I'm sure what you say is good advice and I will take it to heart.....tomorrow. Do you really teach? What is Jayman doing with pics of your humongous wanktool? I love that description.

Kudos

Kudos to Dave, because he is a very important part of the show, aside from holding the camera. Even though the whole Broke Straight Boys concept is about "exploiting" the boys, he doesn't talk like he is exploiting them, in fact he shows them respect as he pushes the envelope with them. And the boys are happy and grateful by the end. Perhaps they were desperate, but there are far worse ways to earn money. And I also enjoy when Dave's hand gets in the picture. :) When I watch porn I want to know that no one is being harmed, and that's the impression I get from Broke Straight Boys

Dakota and Jacob did work at home depot together, but they actually got fired the week before filming. I try to keep the base story real but at times I do "jazz" it up a bit to make it more interesting and entertaining.

I hope that cleared some doubts in your minds.

David!

Thank you so much for clearing that up for me. :001_smile: I'm sorry to hear that they were fired from their jobs before the shoot. My biggest fear however was that they were fired AFTER the shoot and because of the shoot. I could just see every gay guy in the south Florida area checking out all the Home Depots in the lawn and garden center looking for the alias Dakota and Jacob. I'm very relieved to know that they didn't have to deal with any unsavory characters showing up and harassing them in the workplace.

They gave you one of Broke Straight Boys's best early videos. It's definitely one of my favorites. My only regret now is that I wish you would have paid them a little more. Another 2 or 3 hundred dollars more apiece Broke Straight Boys probably would not have even missed. But it might have made a big difference to them in their financial circumstances at the time. Maybe that's why I'm not a businessman. I'm too much of a softy for guys who appear to really be down on their luck. To your credit David you have gotten more generous as the site has grown and prospered. I wish we could have seen more of Dakota and Jacob together... They were fun, entertaining and so cute together.

Tamps, I've asked a bunch of times if the sums discussed on camera actually have anything to do with the fee the Straighties get paid. Just after new year's two guys accepted $800 each for stuff that in 2008 was earning the brokies at least 30% more than that. Belt tightening? I asked, but our Dave kept mum. In a way I can see why he finesses the question. That cheezy bargaining forms an integral part of the klutzy charm of the interview, at least once you get used to it, and as we gradually come to know the percentage of truth that actually remains in what goes on, maybe it's better to cling to some of the myth here and there.

Several times I've also wondered here in print if, as is standard in the rest of the industry, D&E helps the boys to an erection enhancer half an hour before showtime, but those questions have always disappeared unanswered into the ether as well. Since in the last few years both Cialis and Viagra have morphed from being purely prescription medication for impotent Republicans into semi-ordinary leisure drugs for guys their age, it doesn't seem like such a biggie to answer.

Like everyone else, I'm amused to hear Dave plow through the explanations he gives about things we're curious about: Phoenix's and Dustin's tempers, jail time, disloyalty and prima donna delusions, are all excellent industry gossip. But this other stuff fascinates me at least as much.

When I offer the models money...it all depends how "rich" I am for that day or week...depends on my bills and expenses. Remember we are operating a business and there are expenses when running a business. I will tell you that the model expense is the number one cost/expense that we have...but without the models, we wouldn't have a site or a business to run.

I don't think the site would do very well if we put up videos and pics of my vacations...LOL.

LOL Yeah we do get that. :001_smile:

It's not like your only expenses besides models are renting a studio and buying film or memory cards for $200 video cameras from Wal-Mart. There are salaries, licensing fees, internet usage fees, equipment costs, travel expenses for models, and all kinds of overhead that only you professionals know about.

We all appreciate the fact that you pay for some of our favorite models like Diesal for instance to fly to Florida for more shoots. You do go out of your way to try to give us what you think we'll like. And usually you're right on. I don't know how much of the bargaining over price is a show for the cameras. It is hard to believe that a model would agree to fly to Florida without a minimum guarentee in advance of the fee for the shoot. So some of the haggling is probably for our amusement.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here but the Dakota/Jacob episode is one extreme of where the models were paid far too little for what they delivered in terms of entertainment and how far they went sexually. If any models deserved a payday of 4 figures it was them. If indeed they only got $400 that 's too bad. But yes, that is what they agreed to. Nobody twisted their arm.

On the other extreme you have Nikolas who with $2000 of another member's money gave you/us a lousy shoot. He made nearly $3000 in one episode for just showing up. Once he did show up he refused to do squat (because he's too good for gay for pay) and then he proceeded to act like a whiney 6 year old little brat the whole time. For almost $3000! Then after Broke Straight Boys he goes on to whore himself out to other sites where he's throwing his legs up in the air. Go figure...

Yeah, Nicholas was a big disappointment to me. I loved his first shoot, and then he turned into the brat you describe in his last.

Ok, what sites is he throwing his legs up in the air on?!!

Now, David, I wonder about that, or am I the only person who has the entire "Rick Steves, Europe collection of videos? (all 70) Seriously though, don't you think it really all comes down to whether you produce a quality item people can enjoy. You do, so we buy, when you don't, we cry. But that's just the reality of the business. You know how to bring out the best, (or close to it) in 90% of the boys, and part of that includes incentive. ($). I too have wondered however at the seeming disparity in the "agreed fees", but I figure, that's your business, mine is to hang out in the forum, and occasionally watch the vids! LOL!! In all, it's an enjoyable life.

I think it's pretty good advice. If you take it, you have to remember to open up to inspiration, and find ways to be comfortable with your intuitions, learn to handle a fairly high level of creative and esthetic risk, don't worry about making a fool of yourself. Remember that you learn much more from your failures than from your successes, and it's all about learning, all through your career as a creative person, it's about learning, every day.

Yeah, I'm supposed to be a great teacher. The guys who are on my wavelength reckon I'm a kind of guru; I can't get enough of that, being a guru is totally cool. The best thing is that once you get to that level, as a teacher you can almost do no wrong. Your advice is all self fullfilling prophecy, etc.

I'll private msg you about the hu-wa.:thumbup1:

David,

What makes this site so special is the "human" element you bring to it. Some of the other sites are blunt, do this or do that. Your more relaxed and calming to the models. Sure I expect that before you start filming you have a good idea of what you want to ask and for the most part an idea of how the model(s) will respond. What is really exciting is when the models say or do something you were not expecting. For example, Episode #1 Alex and Chris I am sure that was not what you expected. Same for Taz's second visit (the trip to find Sean), or the Pizza boy segments or Ricky and William. It would have been nice to have a camera on you to see some of your reactions. I doubt you could have scripted those even if you wanted to.

Just keep on doing what your doing, providing a fun time for us and your models.

Live Long and Prosper,

Vicekid

David,
This post begs the question for me - What was your reaction when Tommy rammed himself in to Sean & Sean's reaction in the Jake, Tommy & Sean 05-16-07 episode? (I realise it is probably stretching your memory seeing as it was nearly 2 years ago) It sounded a bit like a slightly sadistic laugh (sadistic in a good way :tongue_smilie: ) coming from you :b_evil:

It would depend on who you were up.......... oops sorry :blushing:

:banghead:

I subscribed to that site for a few months and missed that completely! What name did he use?

:banghead:

He still goes by the name Nikolas on CD247. His bottoming scene may have been a newer release.

Its Expressionistic. Basically the effects both physical and emotional that result from people not being allowed to be who they are because of religion (mostly). It is not a 'serious drama' but more a comedy. A really hot guy is being forced into being str8. Everytime he gets a homosexual urge he eats something and finally tips the scales at 400lbs. He is on the verge of finding a cure for cancer, but because of his size and weight can't leave his house and eventually his bed so he can't finish his research. The big drug company loses a lot of money and cancer patiets are left without hope or a cure. I'm hoping that at some point the audience will wonder why they are laughing when it becomes apparent the damage caused. Its only about eighteen minutes long, but I got a Prof who thinks it could be expanded. One bridge at a time, my Mom says, so that is what I am crossing right now.

If you think its corny and stupid, please let me know. I can take it.
Dear elyot, go with the professor. Not everyone knows this, but a famous current musical, Technicolor Dreamcoat, started out as a 17 minute high school production. Look where it went since 1974! Then think where you may be. You go boy, grab that star and hold on tight, ok? Everyone in here is rooting for you! And listen to your mother! LOL!!

David I should have you come and be my second director. My script has been chosen to be funded and shot. I got so much prep work to do but I am so happy it doesn't even seem like work. This must be my lucky week. My script getting approved and TWO Dustin videos. Gr8 seeing the pre-diva Dustin with CJ and Tyler. Thanks for that. I love Dustin. I love Broke Straight Boys I love living. Thanks for your part in making this a gr8 week.

It sounds like a great project Elyot! Follow your bliss and go for it. And BTW we love having you here! So it's a win-win. LOL
