Russia & Ukraine War

No one could ever have guessed that the young little known in international political Ukrainian president who was taken advantage of by the bully, Donald Trump, would become perhaps the most influential international world leader in 2022. Today Zelensky is the hero, while Trump is going to go down in infamy as perhaps the most corrupt American president in history. What a turn of events.
Well said!

John Bolton, Trump's former National Security Advisor, stated that sitting in the Oval Office he heard Trump state in a phone all to Putin that if he was reelected in 2020, his first act of his new term would be to withdraw the US from NATO, so Putin could then invade Ukraine with no worry of any NATO opposition. For Biden to unify NATO in support of Ukraine that quickly after Russian's invasion was an amazing accomplishment which probably only Biden known to Europe from his decades of foreign policy experience could have pulled off. Zelenskyy recognized this by addressing Biden both as "President of the United States" and "Leader of NATO's Support of Ukraine".

Well said. One thing for sure Dump will never be reelected.

This is one of the more consice and insightful explanations of why this whole conflict is happening. It also explains omenously why Ukraine was just another stepping stone in the grand plan of Russia's to seize just about all of Eastern Europe along its internationally recognized borders.

Sadly few learn the lessons of history & as a result the world pays a dear price in lives.

If that's true that Trump promised Putin a U.S. withdrawal from NATO following his hoped-for reelection, it's beyond chilling. Without the threat of nuclear war (or the U.S.) to stop him, Putin would have tried to redraw the whole map of Eastern Europe and Western Russia.

Very informative. As you note, the reason the US has to back Ukraine to a successful conclusion is that Russia would then invade its former possessions of the Baltic States, Poland, and parts of Romania, all NATO countries with whom the US has a NATO treaty obligation to enter that new war in their defense. That is why it is in the national security interest of the US for Ukraine to win this war with US weaponry but without US troops. Otherwise the next war would involve US troops.

Russia's Lavrov: Either Ukraine fulfils Moscow's proposals or our army will decide

Really coming from the country that has been losing!

Yes. That's some pretty big and tough talk coming from a country's leadership whose army has been stuck in relative stalemate (along with suffering a few significant defeats) over the last several months.

I do enjoy posting YouTube videos that show some of the progress of the war along with what I hope is informative (and educated) commentary. That said, I do get annoyed with the sensationalistic titles of some of them, that are deliberately misleading and only used to lure you in to watching.

"Kremlin In Total Chaos!" "Russia Will Cease To Exist By Tomorrow Morning." "Putin is Suicidal!" "The Whole Russian Army Will Collapse By This Weekend!"

It does get a bit tedious. haha

Being an avid YouTube viewer myself, I share your annoyance, but apparently sensationalistic titles are what is called “click bait”. And the creators who post videos are in the business of getting the most clicks to monetize their accounts and so this is an annoying but necessary evil.

What you see must be tempered a great deal, especially on YouTube.

i stopped trying to follow the war, so little new information but there is always a new story coming out.
I agree that there is not much "news" coming out of Ukraine right now. Things will heat up though if/when it looks like the Ukrainians are making an effort to retake Crimea.
