A Yankees is going home with some amazing souvenirs after returning Aaron Judge's 60th home run ball.

20-year-old Michael Kessler, and his friends received signed baseballs and bats after he gave back the ball that according to Action Network HQ is worth anywhere from $50,000 - $500,00.

'I just wanted to give back to the success story anyway I could. Give back to Judge for all he's done for the organization, do my part,' said Kessler.

What a thrill for 20 year old Michael Kessler and his friends to meet Aaron Judge after the game, but if I caught that ball, I’d go for the cash!!!!!

Last night at Yankee Stadium in the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied it looked like Aaron Judge was about to make history with home run #61, but the ball fell short in deep center field. But the Yankees won in the tenth inning and Judge still has 13 games remaining in the regular season to make history.

One of my former forum friends is a big Seattle Mariners fan and we communicate by text every few days. Even though his team is right in the middle of the wild card race, he told me last week that he is sad that the season is drawing to a close. This morning I had similar thoughts.

We still have over two weeks to the regular season and the World Series will go into November this year with the later start to the season, but there is something to be said about the regular rhythm of a baseball season. With 162 games played over six months, a fan of his or her team knows that basically every day there will be a game. I sure hope my team, The Yankees have a long run in October and hopefully November, but it still is on my mind that we are near the end of the 2022 regular season.

But I plan to enjoy what is left and what is still to come!

Yes, the conditions do vary from era to era, but that is all part of the charm and joy of being a sports fan, particularly a baseball fan. Growing up as a young fan, I knew the numbers, 60 home runs for Babe Ruth in 1927, Joe DiMaggio’s 56 game hitting streak in 1941 and Babe Ruth’s all time home run record of 714 accomplished between 1914-1935. And although conditions had changed into the 1960’s and beyond, the records were always there for us to dream about seeing our hero’s break. And we did witness Roger Maris breaking Babe Ruth’s 34 year old record.

And so the young baseball fan of today who witnessed Aaron Judge’s 61st home run last night and hopefully 62nd in coming days will remember and cherish it and tell their children, nephews and nieces and grandchildren some day about Aaron Judge.

Baseball and sports is a continuum and while conditions change, that’s all part of the fun and joy of being a fan of our teams and our sports. Which reminds me of one more point. When I was in my twenties, I’d take my two week vacation in March and stay with my parents in the Fort Lauderdale area and take in a handful of Yankees Spring Training games at Fort Lauderdale Stadium. I was around 25, but I’d sit with many retired folks who lived in the area, and I loved that despite the often fifty year age difference between us, we had the common knowledge and love of baseball. We all bonded over the great American Pastime.

I’ve often said that the drama of a full 162 game baseball season from April through October can be the best unscripted drama out there. Take the two New York baseball teams which I follow on a daily basis. The Mets had a 10-1/2 game lead earlier this year over Atlanta, and with the first two games of a showdown series in Atlanta this weekend, the Braves defeated the Mets top pitchers deGrom and Schertzer on consecutive nights. Now the Braves hold a one game lead in the division with four games to go, including a huge game on ESPN tonight to conclude the regular season series between the two rivals. Both teams are going to the post season but avoiding the best two of three wildcard series is a huge advantage.

On the other side of town, the Yankees have clinched the American League East and will have off after the season concludes on Wednesday until October 11th, when they will host the American League Division series with the first two games at Yankee Stadium. The remaining drama for the Yankee regular season is to see if Aaron Judge can hit one more home run to become the All Time American League single season home run champ, breaking his tie with former Yankee Roger Maris. Then on to the post season. Baseball is still my favorite sport!

And as baseball winds down it’s regular season the National Football League begins Week Four today and the New York Jets finally have their starting quarterback, Zack Wilson back. Zack is a cutie no doubt, but his prowess on the football field is still unproven.

That is interesting that you say that br, and that is the prevalent opinion among sports fans and the so called experts. But I am different, just as I am in my porn taste, than the masses. For me the six month 162 game season is more important. I “live and die” each day between April and October with my team. When I used to work full time, every night after work, I’d get in my car to listen to the Yankee pregame show and the beginning of the game. It is a whole way of life for me to wake up and read the paper and scan the box scores each day.

The post season almost becomes too big for my taste. Yes, I want the Yankees to win every playoff game, and to go to the World Series and win it and have a parade down the Canyon of Hero’s along Wall Street. But by post season, all the world becomes Yankees or Mets fans in New York. Every newscast talks about the games. I see people walking down the street in uniform shirts and caps. To me they are the front runners, not true fans.

Again, I am very different. I march to the beat of my own drummer. And I do want the Yankees to go as far as possible but even if they lose their opening round to Cleveland or Toronto or whoever they play, it doesn’t take away the fun and enjoyment I had over the last six months. But that’s just me…………

There is merit to you approach & it works in tennis to a point. Young players play almost all tournaments all year that is 11 plus months. However, older players due to their bodies must be selective so the Opens take on a far more important role than for younger players.

Zach Wilson was here in Pittsburgh today for the Jets victory over the Steelers. You are right about him being a cute young guy and he has a nice smile. His good looks took the sting out of the loss. I hope he doesn't have any more injuries and has a successful career.
