I find it interesting that in the past few weeks when weather in half to two-thirds of the nation has been such that people would be more inclined to be indoors, that this forum has been as quiet as a funeral parlor. Even among the usual loquacious suspects, there has been little activity; and what little there has been, has been relatively brief. Being the old curmudgeon that I am, I might soon be tempted to post something more outrageous than usual, just to stimulate some discussion and conversation here.

I've noticed that as well. I have to say a big reason that I believe it's like this is a severe lack of actual models posting and the fact that so many members attack each other on the forums and its become a very hostile place lately. I'm afraid to post most of the time because Im scared what everyone will say and think. It wasn't like that even a year ago. Just my opinion.

While I do agree with this statement, I speak for myself when I say....sometimes it's just LIFE! I know that work and other things keep me busy enough that, the forum and catching up with scenes is something I can do for down time entertainment,....whenever that occurs!

I sure hope that you are right, Betu, and this is just a temporary blip on the radar, and that the forum will once again become an active, vibrant place for folks to discuss, debate and joke around regarding the site, the models, guys and life in general. It sure has kept me entertained for the last seven years, and I'd sure miss it if it a lot if it disappeared or withered on the vine due to a lack of interest from the members who remain.

I fully agree! First I too enjoyed the models posting. Second the negativity of a few drew a lot of members away. I looked forward to the forums sometimes more than the porn but now I feel it is more of an obligation of membership than posting for fun. recently there was a thread about how members don't spell correctly and the difference between too to and two. Shit , who cares on here? let's get back to the way it was, a fun thing. Sometimes it seems like a group of people in an in group who ignore others or probably giggle about them to each other. Another thing that is a turn off is when a thread begins and someone and their friends take it over in a different direction than what was started as. Nothing anyone can do though. They will go on unless someone takes the lead and redirects things

I think you guys are hitting on some of the right reasons for the decline in posting lately. If people feel like they're going to be clobbered by other members for saying the "wrong" thing, then people will decide to refrain from posting. Or at least they'll cut down on their activity in here. I've always seen this forum and the diverse group of people within it as joyful escape from the daily pressures of life. Plus it has become an extension of my social life. If the forum itself becomes a source of stress that carries over into my personal life, then I pull back. Because I'm here for the very opposite.

I'm in the forum to try to find some happiness, lively conversation and a respectful exchange of ideas from a diverse group of people with their own unique perspectives. Plus I think all of us benefit socially from meeting new people, even when it's only online in a virtual sense. That's when I think the forum is at its best and fulfilling its highest potential.

A little bit of controversy can be fun at times in getting many people talking at once. But it's a double edged sword. Stirring up drama (just for the sake of it) may get a few or even several responses to start out with. But then it can also backfire...and peter out. :) Because many of the rest of the potential posters don't want to wade into drama. They don't want to be pulled into a source of the very stress that they're trying to escape from in the real world. If they see the forum as a hostile place where anything they say may be pounced upon, (no matter how seemingly innocuous the comment may seem to them) and thereby force them to choose between defending themselves or retreating...where's the joy and happiness in that? If and when we disagree, we just need to do it as respectfully as possible.

Of course that's only one facet to the lack of forum activity lately. Once the quality of the models and scenes reach the sustained critical mass of an upward trajectory again...the forum activity, in its inevitably positive tone, will follow. :Banane48: :hippy: :banana04: With some of us having been in here for years, we know it has always been thus. :thumbup1:

I enjoy the forum too, but thats not why i'm here. I like the porn they provide! I like the fact that a model I enjoy isn't everybody elses taste. I like watching two guys fumble around trying to have "gay sex" rather than making love. I love the fact I can go back and watch Tyler Evans gett fucked for the first time, or Tank Shane hit ass for the first time! I like the bonus sites, which is where I get most of my boners from! I like the fact that members can say how they feel about "whatever" and it's okay. It's my understanding that the forum members are only a small group of the actual membership. So if the forum is slow with nobody posting surely doesn't mean the site is on it's way out. "simply rubbish"

Mikeyank is right. Seems we have little wit and a lot o sarcasm though and are sorely lacking humor.

Irony at its best or is it? Gay folks are "fighting" for acceptance and tolerance and equality. I've read some posts that are anything but that. Is it just "camp" or are they speaking from their hearts with hate? And is that alright?

The Broke Straight Boys forum has lost my interest here at late. When a scene is discussed I feel like I am sitting in the board room of Academy Awards critics. I realize the members here are paying members, but that does not give them to right to be rude and insulting especially to a company who is trying to provide us with some quality porn fantasies for our entertainment. We know they treat their models well and have much concern for their health and well being.

Please be polite and respectful, not only to the Company, but also to the members who do post.

Louis

There is plenty going on in this world that is worth talking about, but nobody on here is bothered. We used to talk politics, music and all other subjects on the non membership part of the forum, but this doesn't happen anymore. I'm glad I have found somewhere else to talk about such topics.

Amen to that, Jon.

Funny that you should mention that since I quit posting after you got on my case in rather unpleasant way. I agree that some members are reluctant to post because of a concern that the will be trashed.

I like Broke Straight Boys and the Forum....I like chatting with everyone, There isn't anyone on here that I wouldn't chat with...doesn't mean you will agree with all my posts or point of view, or vice verse.....I know personally I'm not able to be on every night, sometimes just to many things going on.

I would hope know one holds pack from posting because of other people, If you do hold back for those reasons I would personally just say Ignore them and post what you feel....The reason I enjoy it so much is for the diverse group of folks on here. I enjoy hearing what other people are doing and how they see / view things.

So my :2c: is simply this...post away people, post away....

AG dude. Take my stance and don't give a fuck about what people say to you on here. Words are only letters in a box.

Man this place to used to be fun before everyone got to serious about bullshit!! I shall post only positive things from now on to make this place fun again.

Indeed, Stowe. And wise and reflective people will rightly wonder, why this is. But it is, what it is. Social cultures are complex - all sorts of people make them up. And interesting conversations are difficult to attain, but easy to lose. We must all ask ourselves, why this happened.
