Love is a beautiful thing...
Recall proposing on a classic heavily tree-lined pedestrian boulevard in Hamburg, Germany and dropping to one knee after having Niki sitting on the first bench and proposing in German to which he responded ecstatically "ja yes oui yes dammit yes!" in 1994 before legal same sex marriage...
We traveled all over Europe and worked at some stops taking trains boats aeroplanes renting cars and staying with friends in every EU nation...
Then in 1996 while riding matching Ducati motorcycles (gifts from his parents) in Berlin down the Ku'damm a stupid Merceds asshole speeding swerved and hit him head on and killed him instantly....
2 perfect years of love still existing in memory but my uber-liebte Niki is buried in a quiet cemetery in the sleepy town of Hemsbach with my wedding ring on his hand, a copy of Sting's "When we dance" sheet music, a Masai warrior mask and our Bible...

It is hard to understand how love is such a strong foundation yet so tenuous; maybe that is why it is so beautiful.
