Is gay marriage on the horizon in the US?

To be completely honest, Im already dating a man. He is 40 (I am 46) , I really like (lust!) him. He is a smart puerto rican man. I hope he wants to get serious with me. Id marry him if the chance came up. We text each other all day long. If I wasnt I think Rbar would make a terrific mate.

We all know the feeling

I'd never say that, Robert! As, I said earlier, the door is open for anyone who wants to walk in...

The things we say

Hi Beth:smiley-love001: missed your reply on the "Some questions for the ladies..." thread!

"Oral, tactual; he's just an all around good dick, mouth, dick, mouth....:001_tongue:"
Most of what we say is pure projection... Mr. Beth must be a satisfied man.

Well, I wish you (and him) all the best. He is a lucky man indeed!

If I were a US citizen I think I would like to see all the states accept gays and lesbians before going down the further road to marriage. You've got to get the balance right and thus far you have not..

Jon, don't you think that legalizing gay marriage is a step towards accepting homosexuality? If the laws and government give us the RIGHT to be married, isn't that recognizing us as equal, and not separate or second class, citizens?

(Keeping in mind, that, at least at this point in my life, I have no desire to be married. I just want the right to do it, should I so choose.)

No, it's putting the cart before the horse. How can you possibly legalise a marriage when you do not accept homosexuality. Maybe the question on the topic should read "Is gay marriage on the horizon in some states in the US".

Equal under the law

Not accepting homosexuality is like not accepting nature...

In Holland gay marriage exists for years now... there are only winners. No disadvantages. All Dutch citizen's can choose not to marry, start a registered partnership, or get married. In my country everybody is equal, yet not the same.

So, as a born loner, I choose not to marry... But I do insist on equal rights!

That's the way to do it. Your country is far more liberalised than the UK.

Are you saying that the UK has got it right? Are homosexuals and gay marriages really that accepted in the UK? And if it is true, then it must have just happened for your generation. I only ask because I have only known 3 gay Brits, and they all lived here in the US because they were tired of the bigotry at home.

And Robert, the Dutch don't own the market on acceptance either. You may have rights there, but there is still bigotry among the Dutch! I saw this first hand when I was vacationing in Holland some years ago. Our gay Dutch friend and tour guide, told us on more than one occasion, that someone had laughed at our group and referred to us as American fags. This young Dutch man was out to his brothers, but did not want his parents to know about his sexuality.

I'm not trying to pick an argument here, I am just pointing out that everything is not as rosey in the old world, as you and Jon portray it to be.
Bigotry was not a creation of the Americas, it was brought over from Europe. We just took it to a higher level perhaps.
