Hottie Shawn Mendes

He is 23 now. You can see he has more hair on his torso than in his teenage pics. But he is still quite beautiful. Very hot in fact.

I saw on TV this morning,

Shawn Mendes Postpones Tour Dates, Citing Mental Health Reasons
“I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself,” the singer said in a statement.

Shawn Mendes announced that he will postpone a slate of upcoming concerts, stating his decision to return to touring was proving difficult to manage.
In a social media post, Mendes said the move “breaks his heart,” but spending nearly a decade in the spotlight was beginning to take its toll on the Canadian singer. “After a few years off the road, I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll of the road and the pressure has caught up to me and I’ve hit a breaking point,” Mendes wrote. “After speaking with my team and health professionals, I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost. As soon as there are more updates I promise I will let you know.”

It reminds me of when Justin Bieber was at the height of his popularity as a teen idol and going through legal and mental health issues. One might think that being young and handsome and talented that life would be a breeze. But even young Justin and now Shawn have issues too. If these guys struggle it shows that “life ain’t easy”.

Actually many celebraties have issues as they are a reflection of society in general, so we should not be surprised. A great example was Marilyn (sp) Monroe.

Being a celebrity and being famous brings its own challenges. But the issues of "going on the road" and touring are not a normal human condition that we have built up a tolerance to. So we don't have healthy coping mechanisms in place by custom, tradition, education or upbringing. Being on the road touring means exposure to, and the endurance of, a myriad of very unhealthy temptations. They may be drug use and abuse, alcohol abuse, unsafe sex with multiple partners, overwork compounded by sleep deprivation, total imbalances of the circadian rhythm, frequent time zone changes, frequent air travel that puts still unknown stresses on the body, bad food and poor diet along with very haphazard meal times, having high expectations put on your shoulders at all times, having any misstep or mistake being analyzed and over-analyzed for possibly years to come...

If you are not already rock solid in your mental health state before embarking on such a journey... You could totally unravel in front of a huge audience beyond that of just the stadium. Especially in the digital/internet age. It's not for the faint of heart. I totally respect Shaun's decision not to take that plunge right now. Plus, his openness about his concern for the fragility of his current mental health state is so refreshingly honest. I'm very glad that people (especially famous ones who are role models for many of our youth in particular) are dropping the stigma of discussing mental health issues, without embarrassment or shame.

Indeed Tampa, and as you recall we had similar discussions about Justin Bieber when he was having his issues. Hopefully Shawn comes out of it in a good mental place. The Biebs seems to be in a stable relationship and I sure hope Shawn lives a happy healthy, (plus of course wealthy), life.

Amen to that. :)

Yes. We talked about the near breakdowns and deep mental health struggles of the Beibs. I'm also reminded about how Brittany Spears years ago went through her far too public psychotic breaks and leading into that now infamous legally binding custodial agreement she entered with her father.

Of course the mosat vfamous was Marilyn Monroe, the poor soul.

True. But then we also have Whitney Houston. I would consider her daughter to be collateral damage as well.

While she was never a performer or artist per se in the traditional sense... Her life played out tragically like that of many troubled rock stars and actors.
