Hi, how is your day going.

Why is it called Dumbo? Was the elephant named after it?

I'm not too taken with that haircut common among young men. That sweeping forward look. It makes a lot of the lads look very similar.

A) DUMBO is an anacronym for Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass. New York City has a ton of neighborhoods named similarly. It may have started with SOHO, (South of Houston Street), Tribeca, (Triangle Below Canal Street), and it goes on and on…..

B) I love the haircut common among young men because to me it emphasizes their youth. It was similar back when I was their age, (in prehistoric times, lol). Yes it is tribalism but I like that guys “coming of age” like to put a stamp on their generation. Even back when we all had long hair and sideburns and wore bell bottoms, etc. etc. it was kind of ironic that we wanted to state our individualism from mainstream society by being “different”….yet we all looked the same. And I would think it was similar in the 1950’s, 1940,s, and so on and so forth. The more things change the more they stay the same.

As a side note, I always love when you post Treb, because you have your own way of looking at things and I never know exactly what you are going to say, whereas I am terribly predictable, lol Please keep posting whenever you can Treb. :thumbup1:

Beautiful pics! I did a 2 mile walk at my local beach today, it was 70! In October LOL.
Today has been unusually warm for October in New York City, almost 80 F and I took a late afternoon walk into sunset and early evening. Great exercise on a picture perfect day. :001_smile:

great pictures again Mike, beautiful sunset with Lady Liberty in the foreground!

This week is vacation week for religious observance where I usually work two days a week, so with a different schedule I’ve been taking late afternoon strolls through the neighborhood. The weather continues to cooperate for outdoor activities including strolls. :001_smile:

Did you take pictures or was it a nude beach:ROFLMAO:

LOL, not a nude beach, that's about 45 minutes away from me hahahaha 🤣 you wouldn't catch me there though, I'm not that confident in my whale 🐳 size body LOL

Though my allergies are fucking killing me now LOL I spent most of the afternoon yesterday sneezing and blowing my nose and most of today too. It has to be the ragweed or something else, I cleaned my car windows and there was pollen all over it.

Today is October 24th, still a week before Halloween, and the temps will be a tad cooler than the past week or so, but it is still 62 F at 11AM and should be more comfortable to be outside later in the high sixties. Having the full week off, I am trying to get out as much as I can. I wish all a very pleasant day wherever you are. :sun:

To answer the original title of this thread initiated by the late br, “Hi, how is your day going?”, I’d have to say not great but only because of my passion for my teams, especially my long term love affair with the New York Yankees, but I will get over that and the big picture is I have so much to be grateful for at this stage of my life, living in an affordable apartment in a beautiful neighborhood in a great city, with good health and reasonable financial security. So big picture is my day and my life are going well. I wish everyone else who may read this, a wonderful day as well.

Today was a short trip across the river to the Wall Street area for a walking tour, including The Stock Exchange, Federal Hall where George Washington was inaugurated as our first president, The Fearless Girl Statue and Trinity Church where George Washington worshipped and their graveyard where among others, Alexander Hamilton and his wife Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton are buried.

As we get deeper into autumn season, the leaves are in free fall as the colors are changing again from red and yellow to brown. We are 39 days away until winter begins. And I’m feeling good. I had a long walk in the city on Sunday, a busy productive day at my part time job yesterday and today is chores day, laundry, food shopping and the other mundane aspects of living life, but I feel good and I’m content. I really couldn’t ask for much more. I hope you all are feeling good too. :001_smile:

I really miss the seasons, thanks again Mike for the beautiful pictures.

Sunday afternoon I took some friends from Long Island on a walk across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and we walked into the old part of Chinatown to one of the old time Chinese restaurants Wo Hop for lunch. Beautiful day on a beautiful bridge in a beautiful city. I hope you all had a good weekend. :001_smile:

I learned at a young age to not order "dim sum" at an authentic Chinese restaurant. I got chicken feet with the nails still on, pig snouts and other barely edible foods for a 12 year old. 45 year old me might be a bit more adventurous 🤣 but there is no mistaking a snout looking up at you 😆
