Update on my father

Hang in there Gary, we are all praying for you, your mom, and your dad!

Love and Hugs!

Hey guys. Went and had the Care Conference at the Rehab Center. It went well. They are still concerned about him not being very stable as far as walking is concerned, so looks as if he will be there for at least a couple more weeks. They asked me to bring his walker and cane up, so I did, though he is not allowed to use either one without one of the therapists assistance.

Gary im sure all will be well...... its not been that long .... so there is still heaps of room for improvements....... we were told the biggest improvements can take up to 3 months after a stroke or brain tumar ...

so i think the rehab will do the job.. fantasticly

Good news everyone. Yesterday morning, I went over and got dad released from the Nursing/Rehab Center. He was so happy to be able to go back home and mom was happy too. Shoot, after 55 years of marriage, I would be lonely too being away from each other.

That's great Gary. Thanks for filling us in. :001_smile:

Well everyone, more bad news.
My dad has been taken to the hospital twice this week with identical symptons. Blacking out, falling and not remembering where he is and not being responsive.
He is back in the hospital again. They ran him through a series of tests including EKG, CT Head Scan, Chest X-Rays, blood work and finally and EEG.
This afternoon while I was at the hospital, a Neurologist came in to see him. According to her findings and asking a few questions from him, my mom and me, and looking at his health history, she has found that the strokes that he has had has caused the back of his brain and stem to shrink. This is bringing on seizures, which is what is causing him to black out and fall and also forgetting details an so on.
The Neurologist has ordered him to begin medication for the seizures. He will be released from the hospital hopefully tomorrow and moved to an Extended Care Facility until he is strong enough to go back home. Will keep you posted.
Always, Gary

I'm so sorry to hear that Gary. Hopefully they will be able to treat the worst of the symptoms. Hang in there buddy!

Thanks Tampa and to everyone that has been there for me in thought and prayer. I'll do my best to keep everyone posted. This is so hard on me and my mom. There are days that I just feel to drained. Thanks again guys. Love ya all.
Gary

Well guys, it's after midnight. It's been a tiring day and I think I will try to get some sleep. Catch you all tomorrow. Good night all.
Gary

My prayers are with you and your family. Hang in there... Everything happens for a reason... Bless your heart.

Well, I got dad released from the hospital this afternoon and got him settled into the Extended Care Facility. Had a lot of paper work to fill out and sign. Probably won't know anything until at least Monday. Keep you all posted.

Happy Aniversary...

Tomorrow (Friday) we are to have a care conference at the Extended Care Facility where dad has been. The administrator, the med tech, myself, my mom and the appropriate people at the facility are to all be in attendance. Looks as if he will not be able to go back to where he and mom live due to him being so unstable on his feet. The administrator at the Maple Creek Residential Facility is suggesting that we move my parents to an Adult Family Care Home where he will get more one on one care. I expect dad will not be happy about that, but where they are living now, they cannot offer them the more personal care that he is needing. Will keep you posted.
Gary

I hope all work's out for them Gary. And tell them Happy Belated 55th.
