What is the common thread of all the top scenes over the years as well as the models involving them? The vibrance involved. Regardless of whether you may be attracted to the participants, they all exude this energy.

As always to each their own, which is a very good thing.

I posted a long form podcast of “Demystifying Gay Porn” last week involving one of our Broke Straight Boys Models, Derek Cline. Today I watched an interview with Rob Navarro of Military Classified, and thought I’d post it here. Before I joined Broke Straight Bioys, I had sampled Military Classified as it was the same subject matter, of getting straight guys to do gay stuff for money. I found this hour long interview fascinating as I learn how Rob began his site and how he was influenced by Bobby Garcia and Dirk Yates, two studios that I used to rent VHS tapes from way before I had a computer.

It is fascinating to me how Rob met his straight guys and lured them into his studio From near a military base in San Diego, after they were drinking in a local bar and offered them money for a blowjob and then to film for him. This is Rob’s story. He has very similar interest as I do in young straight guys willing to go gay for pay.

Thanks for sharing that Mikey! I haven't watched it yet. But I'm a big big fan of his work. haha

It is actually an interesting interview as Rob talks about his entire life, being an entertainer in of all things Christian music. He even had some hit songs. I am so glad that I stumbled upon the “Demystifying Gay Porn” YouTube channel.

As I think about it, I was never actually a member of Military Classified, but saw videos on various porn tube sites, and received weekly emails advertising his new releases. I often say that Broke Straight Boys is the only porn website I have been a member of, but I briefly joined a site called “Like Em Straight”, when I got my first computer in 1999. I searched “straight” and found that site and later the same way, I found Broke Straight Boys Hearing Rob talk of finding VHS tapes to rent from Bobby Garcia, way before he started in the industry, reminds me that we the true, “straight boy”, fetishists may be a minority, but we do exist. Some people don’t get it, but as with any fetish, it is only those of us into it who get it.

As I go through more of the Demystifying Gay Porn site, if any other interviews I find interesting, I will post them here.

Back in the early 1990’s, I saw a fan magazine at work near the ladies bathroom and opened it and saw pics of the big band at the Time, “New Kids on the Block”. I instantly became a fan, although I had never heard them sing, lol. Much as I fell in love with Justin Bieber based on his looks not his singing abilities. I even went to my local Video Store, (remember those?), and rented some VHS tapes just to see the boys.

Yesterday, I read that one of them, Jonathan Knight was gay. Here is the story.

Jonathan Knight said he felt ‘pressure’ to keep his sexuality a secret in New Kids On The Block’s early days

(CNN) - Jonathan Knight from the popular boy band, New Kids On The Block, said he was pressured into hiding his sexuality during the band’s early days.
Knight said that the group’s manager knew that he was gay but urged him to keep his sexuality a secret. He says the manager told him that if anyone found out, his and the band’s career would be over and that Sony would lose a lot of money.
“It was just so much pressure,” he said. “Looking back, that’s a lot of pressure to put on somebody who is just trying to figure out the world themselves.”
Last year, the 54-year-old revealed that he married his longtime partner, Harley Rodriguez.

Knight was the first to leave the band in 1994. The group officially disbanded soon after but reunited in 2008.

I remember liking Jordan Knight and Donny Wahlberg, the older brother of Mark Wahlberg, before he became a star on his own as Marky Mark. And I found a live performance featuring a shirtless, Jordan Knight!

Yeah. Such was the case with a lot of boy bands back in the day. Lance Bass and others. They were forced to stay in the closet for a good length of time.

By the time One Direction came around it was almost a non-issue that there would be rampant public speculation and gleeful curiosity over which ones might be gay or bi. Teasing the fans and the public over their sexuality became almost a marketing tool in and of itself. Being gay, bi or questioning was no longer the career killer it would have been only a decade or two prior.

Ex-NYC teacher earning $120k — as a dog walker

This well-paying gig is a walk in the park.
Michael Josephs went from making under $40,000 a year as a teacher to raking in six figures doing what he loves — walking dogs.

The seemingly humble job has allowed the former Brooklynite, 34, to buy a home in Middletown, NJ, where he currently lives, as well as a new car. He’s also been able to take his family to Disney World and put aside $10,000 in a college fund for his 18-month-old kid.

“It’s been a blessing,” Josephs told The Post.In early 2019, he started walking dogs as a side hustle to supplement his $38,000 annual salary as a special-needs teacher at a private school in the Financial District. He relished walks in Prospect Park with his black Labrador mix, Willy, and local dog owners were always commenting on how obedient the pup was. Some asked if Josephs was for hire, and he said sure.

After seeing how lucrative it could be, he decided to quit teaching and focus on Fido. In July of 2019, he officially started his own business, Parkside Pups. By the end of the year, he’d made $35,000 and had a dozen regular clients who paid $20 for 30-minute walks. Last year, he made $120,000.

“I’m amazed by the lifestyle I can have as a business owner,” he said.

Business stalled when the pandemic hit in 2020, but quickly picked up again when New Yorkers returned to the office. Last year, he decided to grow the business, creating an app and hiring more employees.
He now has five full-time workers as well as various independent contractors serving dozens of dogs. The business spans Brooklyn, lower Manhattan and soon will be available in the New Jersey locales of Red Bank and Middletown. Services offered include walks ($25 to $30 per hour), puppy training ($60 per hour) and overnight puppy-sitting ($65 per day).

Josephs lost his health insurance when he left his teaching job, but his new gig comes with its own perks.

Well-heeled clients regularly offer him their vacation homes upstate or out on Long Island.

I am a dog lover & have had three but really a teacher gets far less than a dog lover?

That's great that someone can make a good living doing something most would consider only a lowly side-hustle.

Today, I met several family members and friends taking a short 15 minute subway ride to the Brooklyn Museum. I didn’t take a lot of pics and didn’t intend to post it on either the New York City thread or anywhere else, but there was one photograph that stood out and I took a pic of it and decided to post it here.

We were on a tour of the mostly French fashion scene, which actually which largely bored me, with pics of women in their fashions but I have no idea why this pic was included. Here it is with the card which unfortunately I took out of focus. Can anyone explains to me why it was included in this exhibit? I have no clue.

I found this article explaining why Jeff Stryker was involved with the fashion exhibit.

IN PARIS, PUTTING ON THE SPECTACLE

By Cathy Horyn
October 18, 1991
PARIS, OCT. 17 -- It was just another high-fashion hoedown tonight in the city of dreams as the Paris spring collections got underway.
Up on the runway at Thierry Mugler's show, Ivana Trump more or less trotted out, grinning behind her little cowgirl disguise. But everybody knew. "Ivana! Ivana!" She whipped off her bandanna -- surprise! Diane Brill, her body a virtual fortress in purple satin, came out, afluttering and atittering. Lady Miss Kier, in red ringlets and a tutu, wiggled her finger for Dmitry, her Deee-Lite sidekick, to come along. "Here kitty, kitty, kitty," she purred. And old Dmitry, dressed in the tightest gold pants, he went.

This was Mugler's wild West and chest fest. The models, who may or may not have been wearing clothes that anyone might actually buy -- jackets with holster pockets, "chap dresses" scooped out in the back, rubber jodhpurs and aqua shag chaps -- obliged with the usual shake-'em-baby jiggles. Jeff Stryker, the porn star, peeled off his leather chaps and made a big point of leaning over to pick them up. Lypsinka, the New York drag queen, skinned off his costume, down to a black peignoir, and lip-synced to Cyd Charisse. And the company of queens assembled by the door, their eerie eyelids twinkling with glitter, just howled. So did everybody else. Who remembers the clothes? It was just a gag drag, with Ivana and La Camilla, with a queen for this and a queen for that. Mugler's shows have pretty much ceased to be about fashion per se. They are about the people who are in his shows -- socialites, peroxided Lido stars, pop singers, bouffant transvestites -- and in that sense they are for the people who live for fashion.
————————————————————————————————————-

And it makes sense to me now that Thierry Mugler, the designer was a gay man and he had a thing for Jeff Stryker and included him in his Paris fashion show. It was still unexpected for me to see that pic at the museum yesterday.

Jeff Stryker was my very first porn VHS tape and I watched it so many times that it probably self-destructed. Thank you for your informative posts and pictures. You really do capture some awesome images and provide interesting commentary. Keep up the good work.
