I know that I repeat myself on this forum, but it does sadden me that on a day like today when I have time off from work, and I'd love to read and engage with my fellow forumites as I've been doing for the last six and a half years, there is nobody in the school yard to play with. I understand times change, but I still miss the days when the forum was a virtual playground for me with so many friends here to play with. ~ Mikeyank

Hey Everyone,

Due to Mikey's post on another thread about his analogy of the forum being much like a playground where he gets to chat with his friends and make new ones...I thought why not start a thread devoted simply to chat? Many years ago another member named Kodieboy started a thread called, "I'm bored!" It had more of an instant messaging feel rather than a typical forum posting feel. My thought for this thread is that there are no set topics or subjects. It can be about site related or issues that are non-site related. Conversations will just flow in whatever direction anyone online in here wants to talk about or respond to. It has the added benefit of freeing us from feeling like we have to start a designated thread for topics that we don't necessarily want to delve into in great depth (just chat about) or feel like we need to do so just because we started a thread on that particular topic. Like all threads it's open to all members, staff and models.

If we were fortunate enough to get some of our favorite forumites together at our local coffee shop or diner, (or have a beer with at a local pub) what would we talk about?

Anybody can drop in whenever they want to put in their two cents. Or just be a fly on the wall.

What do you think?

I'm getting excited because I'm pretty sure we'll get an answer from the Supreme Court about the gay marriage case by the end of this month. I'm pretty sure they voted on it very shortly after the heard arguments on it. Then they keep the decision under wraps for weeks or even months before they let the public know. lol I don't why that is. I'm fairly convinced though that their decision is going to go our way. :) *fingers crossed*

I agree Tampa. From reading public opinion polls over the last few years, I believe that with the exception of "religious nuts", most people in this country have the attitude that they all know gay people, recognize that we are here throughout the population including friends, family, co-workers and if same sex couples want to marry, why shouldn't they? It seems like a no brainer to me.

I visited a much older friend in the hospital yesterday who's not doing well at all. He is one of the first people I've ever met who was actually at the Stonewall Inn on that first night of the riots. He describes having the police beat him in the back with billy clubs...and how to this day he still has some back issues because of it. The drag queens were screaming like murder because they were being singled out for some of the worst physical abuse. Of course as we know now, they suddenly decided enough was enough and they were going to fight back physically against the police. The crowds outside began shouting and screaming against the police and in support of the those resisting the police's efforts to arrest everybody who had been in the bar. What a night it must have been. If I could time travel back there to just observe the events of that night, I would. lol

Can we talk about sports here at the corner diner, Tampa? The American League East has been a very poor division, but surprisingly both my Yankees and your Rays are fighting it out for first place, here at the one third point of the schedule. Currently the Yankees are one half game ahead of Tampa Bay. And Alex Rodriguez is shocking fans everywhere with a solid season after a one year drug suspension at age 40 with two bad hips. Most folks thought he was washed up and would limp to the finish of his contract, (which may still happen, but so far he is having a very solid season!).

It's amazing to me that it happened in 1969 and one summer later I was going to my first gay bars right here in the same city that had the Stone Wall riots one year before, and I was only vaguely aware at age 20 that openly going to The Sanctuary bar on West 43rd Street was something I could have been arrested for one year prior to that.

Do you remember the days (the 60's, 70's, 80's and even 90's) when it was extremely common for people to say that they didn't personally know any gay people? lol It sounds so silly now. If people thought they didn't know any gay people in their own daily lives, it was only because a homophobic society had kept those gay acquaintances, friends and family members in the closet. Because it was physically dangerous and not good for either finding a job or keeping a job, to be out in those eras.

I'm very surprised also at how poorly the AL East is doing compared to the other divisions. I'm very proud that the Rays are doing as well as they are this season. Especially given that they have a brand new manager in his first year of major league coaching. Plus, we lost a few really good players and gained a few new ones who we knew little or nothing about. Of course I'm also happy that we are neck and neck with the Yankees. But my goodness. Who would have predicted, even with a few tough seasons prior, that Boston would be in freefall right now and sitting in the AL-E basement?

OK..I will talk sports..Doesn't Rafael Nadal just look good enough to eat in his white tennis shorts?? One track mind.lol

I have two other friends who will be celebrating their 53rd anniversary soon. They told me that decades ago they were out running errands (here in Florida) and planned to go out to a club afterwards. With all the obligatory errands out of the way, they were on their way driving to the club. One of them (who really does have some psychic abilities) said something to the effect of, "Ya know. I really am rather tired tonight. Why don't we just go on home?" So without any fuss they decided to go on home instead and save the club for another night.

The following day they found out that the club had been raided the night before and everyone inside arrested. The following day after that, the local newspaper printed the names and addresses of everyone who had been arrested at the club. They were predictably angry to hear that the police had raided the club...and obviously very relieved that they had not been caught up in it and publicly shamed and outed.

yes he does! I like this Virtual Coffee Shop - great idea and I look forward to the topics and responses. I joined this site because of the straight guy doing gay things aspect because it was a real turn on and over time I stopped watching the porn and just read and responded to the forum until management deleted oneof my posts and stopped posting for a while howevr like many of you I am addicted to the forum

Mr. Nadel is my idea of a perfect man - some how I forgot all about him - thanks for the pics
