Over the past month I have lost two friends from my local pub. The first guy Dave was just 67 and it was a great shock to everyone in the pub when he passed away. Today at 4am our dear friend Ronnie died aged 96. He was such a character and I loved listening to his wartime stories.

I've always love chatting to the older generation, they have so much experience and stories to pass on, it's something that my dad passed on to me as he too used to love chatting to his elders. It's probably why I like chatting to you old timers on the forum - there are so much wisdom out there.

Jon, hey, I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you're feeling relatively okay, under the circumstances of course.

"Time is a blind guide." That's the first line of my favorite novel. You know I'm a recovering druggie. I had to learn that there are a few things that are simply beyond our control.

That's not to say that we have to feel defeated. Time isn't after us, it's a part of us and one day we'll understand it.

Hugs, Andy (take care of yourself)

"are those dreams or are those prayers? Just close your eyes son, this won't hurt a bit"

Thanks dude. Knowing that there are nice people all over the world like the people on this forum helps too. Even though Ronnie had a good innings of 96, he is leaving a gap in the corner where he sat for as long as I've been there. The pub landlord is going to put a brass plaque with his name on the back of the seat.

Hey John,

I'm so sorry about your friends. I'm very glad thought that you had the pleasure of knowing them and learning from them. They sound like amazing men.

Friends honey and thanks.. Cannot believe there is a 2 week waiting list for the crematorium.

That seems like an awfully long time :( Funerals here seem to happen about 4 days to a week postmortem. Will there be a service for Ronnie? Does he have a big family?

I am so sorry Jon, good friends are the best treasures of life; enjoy your memories. Love ya, Beth

So sorry to here about you friends Jon. It's never easy losing someone in your life xoxo from Seattle

Oh dear, losing friends is always difficult for us, left behind. I prefer to think we live on, in another life, in another reality and then one day, we are brought back together again, whole and healthy. I know it is perhaps just my dream, but it does make life and it's sorrows a bit more bearable. Just think how fortunate you were to have such good friends! You know, some people never have even that!

There is no postmortem as he was sent to a care home after the hospital could do no more and took him off his medication. Ronnie died of old age but 6 months ago he was quite bubbly but took badly after a cold which he never recovered from. In the end he gave up and kept hold of a picture of his wife who died 15 years ago - at least they are together again now. Yes there will be a service but he doesn't have much family although there will be a good turnout from the pub and his neighbours.

The backlog at the crematorium is because there was a problem with their ovens which took a week to fix.

Thank you all for your support.

Dear Jon, Hugs from me I wish you peace and love in your memories

Sorry to hear of your losses. Nothing can be said to make it better. We all have to live through it many times in our lives.

Jon; Sorry for your losses. Stay strong!
