I’m sorry to hear that you are going through that Bob. My brother died in 2020 after losing a battle with cancer. I definitely can feel what you are going through. It’s very very difficult.

I’m watching YouTube as I am usually doing and this just came on from 1975. The Bay City Rollers were supposed to be the next Beatles. Obviously NOT. They did have one hit song which I can’t remember. This is a cover of a Four Seasons hit from a decade earlier.

But the reason I’m posting this video here is that I just realized that they were sexy young lads, obviously the reason they were put in the position to be stars. I was offended by their music in 1975, but find them sexy twinks in 2025. Go figure. :001_tt2:

That video cutting so quick I had to stop watching LOL. Cute guys though

haven't posted here in a long time, but I heard this song and it was a deja vous moment, I need to contribute more. Thanks to jon for starting this, I always adding my "3 cents", so continuing fashion here is my latest contribution:

BTW, is it just me, or does the lead singer, resemble Jack Black?

okay so whilst listening to more music tonight, I found this song I like/d, as well an additional fact:

Mark Foster, the lead singer is (openly) gay....Was I the only one that did not know this???

I didn't know that! Though this is the only song by "Foster the People" I know

That's news to me! Have a feeling I saw them at Reading music festival back in the day!

In addition to Tom Jones, Florence and the Machine, Bonnie Tyler, this is another Welsh band...I heard this the other night and talk about deja vous. This song brought me back to my high school years. 1983 to be exact:

The Beach Boys earliest hits were just before I “came of age”, listening to rock and roll on the radio. The Beatles in late 1963 was my start getting into rock music. But there was a song by the Beach Boys that was released in 1965 when I was 15 that really interested me. It was called, “When I grow up to be a man”.

According to Wikipedia, “The lyrics describe a boy who is feeling anxious about his own future when he will no longer be a teenager, pondering such questions as "Will I love my wife for the rest of my life?"

For myself at 15, I was realizing that I was not into women and would probably never have a wife, and I was questioning what I would be like when I grow up to be a gay man. Here are the lyrics from that song.

“When i grow up to be a man
Will i dig the same things that turn me on as a kid?
Will i look back and say that i wish i hadn't done what i did?
Will i joke around and still dig those sounds
When i grow up to be a man?

Will i look for the same things in a woman that i dig in a girl?
(fourteen fifteen)
Will i settle down fast or will i first wanna travel the world?
(sixteen seventeen)
Now i'm young and free, but how will it be
When i grow up to be a man?

Oooooo ooooooo oooooooo
Will my kids be proud or think their old man is really a square?

(eighteen nineteen)
When they're out having fun yeah, will i still wanna have my share?
(twenty twenty-one)
Will i love my wife for the rest of my life
When i grow up to be a man?

What will i be when i grow up to be a man?
(twenty-two twenty-three)
Won't last forever
(twenty-four twenty-five)
It's kind of sad
(twenty-six twenty-seven)
Won't last forever
(twenty-eight twenty-nine)
It's kind of sad
(thirty thirty-one)
Won't last forever
(thirty-two...)”

The song ends at age 32, which I have more than doubled now, but the fact of the matter is that I still think much the same way that I did as a 15 year old, but of course with a lot more sophistication. I have made it a point to always treat young people with respect and not put them down for hairstyles or the way they dress or the music that they listen to, for I was once in their shoes.

It may not be the most popular or meaningful Beach Boys song but that is what I think of upon the passing of Brian Wilson. :001_smile:
