Now this is a topic that is off the wall (well nothing to do with Broke Straight Boys that is )
I was wondering what users think of each of the following:-
IE7 - Internet Explorer 7
IE8 - Internet Explorer 8
Firefox 3.5.2

IE7 - I am using IE7 at the moment & I find it better than IE6 (not much of a recommendation I know)
IE8 - I downloaded & installed IE8 a couple of months back & it crashed my internet access. I had to reformat the harddrive on both my desktop & laptop & reinstall everything.
Firefox - I haven't used Firefox but it seems to get a good rap.

I had the same experience as you with IE8. I downloaded it like Microsoft suggested and then it deleted things on my toolbar like spellcheck. It created a few other problems too. So I had to backdate my computer to before the IE8 update and it restored all that I had lost. The next time I got the popup asking me if I wanted to download IE8 I ignored it. Just as a side note I am very disappointed with Vista as far as the speed. XP was MUCH faster.

I've heard good things about Firefox also.

I use Firefox exclusively now and am v. happy with it. I've got good firewall protection with Ff, but use a bunch of virus doctors as back-up since I cruise in uncharted waters quite a lot looking at dubious porn. Firefox is very respectful of your files and leads you through processes like you guys are mentioning, to make sure you actually want to complete. Wouldn't go back to Microsoft for anything except for live.com which gives a good image on the screen for stuff like cybersex with other guys, C2C, plus the fact that all the hotties have hotmail accounts since it's the usual thing. All the day to day e-mail I get comes to my googlemail accounts. I have one that's [email protected]. Mail me (tell me your nick on Broke Straight Boys) and I'll invite you to an account. It's great. Besides exceptionally userfriendly e-mail per se, it also provides videochat with other account holders if you have a cam and a mic. So easy to do. I talk to Milen several times a week using gmail, and he often shows me his butt, etc, since he thinks that I'm throbbing with longing to see his junk 24/7. Which isn't actually the case, but I never tell him to stuff it back into his jeans because he's just about the sweetest guy you'd ever hope to see giggling and showing off on your computer screen. Did I manage to go right off topic in the course of a sentence and a half?

I only use Firefox. I find it great.
Oh and Slim i have a cam and a mic.
I have them to chat to my brother in Oz.

I couldn't backdate to the preinstallation restore point as IE8 had wiped that out
I hate XP I had it before Vista, it just caused so many problems. I was glad to get rid of it when Vista came along.
I quite like Vista, but I am wondering what Windows 7 will be like.

I am quite proud of you for the way you achieved that Slim

What is wrong with these computer companies? I was forced to take Vista when I got a new computer. I don't know what I'll do if I have to re-format. I don't have the program on a disc. I keep having a pop up that invites me to try #8. I don't want to since I know it will crew everything up. I also don't know how to stop that damned pop-up. I hear there's an update to Vista. I will pay money for it when it comes up.

I use both Mozilla Firefox (Net interface) and Thunderbird (e-mail). I prefer both to Microsoft products. Firefox remembers the sites you use most and takes you back with fewer keystrokes. This "intuitive memory" works well. The main inconvenience is Microsoft saying you must use MS programs when trying to access other MS program support sites. My OS is MS XP. I've heard so many horror stories about Vista I was afraid to go there.
