Hi, how is your day going.

I'm back just in time to whine. Today is my birthday and I just put my 17-year-old cat to sleep.

While this winter has been the pits (so much ICE that just won't go away), part of me will always have a sense of wonder with fresh snow. I grew up in the L.A. area and moved to Philly when I was 11. I'd barely seen any snow. The first time school let out early for a snow day, I ran over to the piles and rubbed it into my hair. I've walked through blizzards since, but I still get that kind of giddiness with the first significant snowfall of the year.

Happy Birthday. :waw:

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. :censored:

I’m very sorry to hear about your cat Treb. Very sad.
Regarding the snow, I agree that the first snow of winter is always beautiful to look at, but this one just never went away and kept getting dirtier and more frozen in place with the sub zero temperatures. A winter from Hell. :mad0259:

Sorry to hear about your cat, they are family and it hurts deeply.

But happy birthday too!

It was on January 25th last month when New York City had its biggest snow and ice storm in decades. Finally this week it has mostly disappeared from our streets with warmer temperatures and some rain. I took some pics this morning of our streets mostly snow and ice free, finally. March is just a week away and I was hoping for warmer days with Spring on its way……………But no. A blizzard is forecast for Sunday into Monday, again. :crying2:lol

I just checked latest forecast for my area and it’s getting worse.:scared::scared:

A blizzard warning has been issued for all five boroughs of New York City, Long Island and much of New Jersey as a classic nor'easter threatens to dump up to a foot of snow in the metro area Sunday afternoon into Monday.

That hasn't happened for the city in nine years. And projected snow totals are rising for some of us.

Snowfall rates could hit up to 2 inches an hour at times. A blizzard warning is issued when snow accumulations are expected between 13 and 18 inches and winds are expected to gust as high as 55 mph. This drops visibility below 1/4 mile, and whiteout conditions are expected.

Every time I check the weather forecast, it’s getting worse! :scared:

The blizzard warning for NYC, Long Island and New Jersey takes effect at 6 a.m. Sunday and lasts until 6 p.m. Monday.

Blizzard warnings are only issued when 13 to 18 inches of snow is expected and winds of 55 mph are predicted.

The five boroughs and Long Island are expected to get anywhere from 18 to 24 inches.

Connecticut currently has a forecast of 18 inches on coast and 12 inches inland. And today it was 45 degrees, and we finally saw a significant melt with bare sidewalks, driveways and even big patches of lawns! Only to go be buried in 18 inches of new snow tomorrow and Monday! Since this storm is to the south of us, our most recent forecast would indicate that the NYC forecast has probably worsened as well!

Yup they are forecasting in feet for us, 1-2 currently. But it's always the winds that scare me, that's what brings the power down 😭

You summarized this storm well: "Every time I check the weather forecast, it's getting worse!"

The blizzard did hit and it’s still snowing this morning with 12”-18” in most parts of New York City. The farthest that I’m going today was to my front door and I took a couple of pics at 9 AM. This has been quite a storm. Supposed to stop sometime this afternoon, when the shoveling and digging out begins. Fortunately I live in a building where management is responsible for all that!

An hour away in southwestern Connecticut, we shall get the 18 inches of snow when it is over shortly! Very pretty pics, just don't walk or drive on it!
