Beautiful pictures mike, what are these post in the water?
Those are pilings from the old industrial piers which lined the portion of the East River where Brooklyn Bridge Park is today. Most of the old piers have been redeveloped into themed areas such as the basketball court I pictured. Others include a full soccer field, and several are grass covered fields for just hanging out. They purposely kept these pilings as a tribute to the industrial past and they are very cool looking. Thanks for asking, TK. :001_smile:

Another super nice morning in the neighborhood…..Happy Sunday! :001_smile:

Great picture view looking through the archway of the Empire State building in the background, I also like the one of the jetski's on the river. Thanks for sharing.

According to the weather forecast today will be the last day of 80F+ temps for a while. I took an early morning walk on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and enjoyed the weather and the views during rush hour, including the Staten Island Ferry which is a free ride between Staten Island and Manhattan. I also saw the New York Ferry in the East River which covers waterfront spots in all five boroughs of New York City, That costs a base fare of $4.50 with a free transfer and discounted multi-ride programs as well. I think it’s great that New York City which became prominent because of its water routes is taking advantage of our geographic assets once again. :001_smile:

The NYC Tourism Commission should hire you Mike and your great pictures, really love your post and look forward to them.

The temperature dropped around twenty degrees today from yesterday. I was in midtown Manhattan earlier on Fifth Avenue between Rockefeller Center and Forty Second Street. The last time I was there was last December with all the Christmas decorations up. Today wasn’t nearly as crowded but the streets were still filled with tourists, people working in the area and some semi-retired folks like me enjoying the crisp fall weather and people watching. :001_smile:

Beautiful pictures Mike! It's 43 here now and I had to break out my jacket for the fall today. I was shivering it was so chilly. Time to get the Crock-Pot out and heat up that mulled apple cider 😋

I saw this photograph on line this morning taken in 1933. This was way before there was a Brooklyn Heights Promenade or Brooklyn Bridge Park as the shoreline was the very active New York City docks where a great deal of the goods were shipped into and out of the city. I found a somewhat comparable pic that I posted on this thread last March.

What a difference 90 or so years makes!

Sorry I can’t post my pics on the forum for some reason. I will keep trying.
