Hi, how is your day going.

Of course I do. In fact my Yankee fan friend and I who attended with a group were called out for wearing our Yankee caps. But at that time, both the Yankees and Mets were in the midst of losing streaks, so neither fan base could really razz the other. And New York Mets outfielder Jesse Winker played in a rehab assignment that day.
I believe that at one time the Yankees had a similar farm team on Staten Island, but the venue of the Brooklyn Cyclones is so much better. Hope that Jesse Winkler hit a home run for you!

I went out for a walk this evening to get some exercise and to check out Brooklyn Bridge Park and DUMBO too as sunset approached. In the wooded areas I marvel how beautiful this man made park is and that 20 years ago it was all concrete dilapidated piers and abandoned parking lots and warehouses.

What a beautiful day our news on the west coast say you are in for large amounts of rain? I hope that is not the case. I always enjoy your walks and pictures you send.

Thanks TK very much. This forum is only a shell of what it once was but you are a classic old school forumite as we used to call ourselves. Yes, the heavy rain did come in the evening and more is expected this week, but it’s not a major issue except for umbrellas breaking during rain and wind. But it will make us appreciate the next string of sunny days even more. I really appreciate you, dude. :thumbup1:

I have to amend my last post that I made two and a half hours ago when I just woke up regarding the rain in New York City. I worked yesterday and got on the subway to come home a little after 6:30 PM and the rain was starting but not heavy enough to require my opening my umbrella. When I got off the train near home, it was raining fairly hard and I used the umbrella and got home a little wet, but no big deal. I didn’t turn on the local news again before going to sleep.

I discovered when watching the local news this morning, we had a near record rain fall in one hour and some subways were flooded and highways impassable for that hour. Today is calm and sun is predicted, with more heavy rain coming later this week. Here are some pics I found online of the flooding last night. Thankfully I missed the worst of it.

Friday was a beautiful day with lower temperatures and humidity. I met friends in Astoria and we spent several hours riding on the Astoria NYC Ferry up and down the East River with a stop at Wall Street for lunch and drinks at the South Street Seaport. It was a great day. :thumbup1:

Beautiful day compared to all the flooding 2 days ago. Thanks Mike

What a difference a day makes! From high humidity and feeling over 100 degrees to low humidity with temps in the low 80s! Great pics and great day to be outside!

Welcome back home Chac. I tried to enlarge your images to find my neighborhood but couldn’t do it. Enjoy the nice weather as the heat and humidity is headed back our way tomorrow. (n)

I had a doctors appointment this morning on East 61st Street near Lexington Avenue in Manhattan, and so like any good gay New Yorker, I went into Bloomingdale’s on 59th & Lex on the way home. Back in the early 80’s I belonged to a gym on 59th & Park and all “the boys“ shopped at Bloomys. :001_smile:

This “summer sauna” of 2025 rolls on worth another three day extreme heat wave upon us on the East coast. The forecasted high is 93 today on Monday, 96 on Tuesday and 92 again on Wednesday followed by rain and a cooling trend. The heat index or real feel temps will be in triple digits these next three days. Monday & Wednesday are my work days but it is a short commute on an air conditioned subway working in an air conditioned office.

But the morning sun was shining very brightly and the heat and humidity are already here before 8 AM. To all affected, try to stay cool. :001_cool:
