Actually there is disco version which was a huge hit back in 1976, and was featured in the wonderful film "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" starring Richard Gere and Diane Keaton. While the film was about a desperate single woman looking to meet a man, I felt it paralleled the gay dating scene of that era too.
