I am so glad Broke Straight Boys is back online. Poor Mikeyank had NOTHING to do yesterday except call me and other members, crying the entire time. It was not a pretty picture. Mike should be a happy camper this morning. We love you, Mr. Mayor (in spite of yourself).

I'll be at work today, so I guess I won't have to be calling you and Johnny and Peter on the hour asking, Is it back yet????? lololololol

That was torture! We are mostly back up now, but ironing out a few last wrinkles. This was a problem with our entire datacenter. You can see the updates of what happened here if anyone is curious: http://nationalnetupdates.com/

Thanks Bryce. Luckily one of my "yenta's helpers" informed me late last night that you guys posted a message on your twitter account, so I knew it was just a temporary issue and I didn't have to go into Broke Straight Boys withdrawal. I heard that it can be an ugly process. lol

But I am very glad to know that you are back. I know that I bitch and moan a lot about what is wrong with Broke Straight Boys, but obviously there is a lot I like about having it at my disposal. If this was you guy's attempt at a day late April Fools joke yesterday, it wasn't funny! lol

Well there are a LOT of weirdos on this site.. (ONE FUCKING DAY GONE ) And I Missed You All. Glad were back. I was so worried about mikeyanks mental Health.
I could hardly sleep.lol xoxoxoxo

Where did you see the post from admin that you are quoting?

There are still a few issues. When I try to download the Rowan/Brandon scene, the site takes me to an error page. It says Error 403 - Forbidden. Also, the home page before login does not load properly. I am a retired CIO so I know there are no issues with my network or computers.

Hello,

We are still finding bugs from the datacenter failure and are keeping the pressure on our host to get everything back to 100%. They are simply overwhelmed with the sheer number of customers needing things repaired. Cutting power to a server is about the worst thing that can happen to them. Databased get corrupted and all kinds of nasty things when they aren't shut down properly. Luckily, most things are working for us, but we are aware of issues like downloads and such that are still broken. We are staying after them and apologize that this happened. It's been challenging to say the least!

Thanks,
Bryce

This is the kind of information - even more fulsome - which should have been post #1 on a thread started by the company. You should not rely on twitter or any other outside platform to get the word out on such things to your members. As this is a membership site, and it was the site which had the problems, once you were back up and running, the company should have given the information out on the membership's forum. Not all of us use twitter.

They posted on twitter the reason for the site being down at the time. No way to post on the forum as the site was down..

We believe we have everything back and working normally now. Please do let us know if you notice anything still amiss.

Thank you!

Thanks Bryce. While I may complain (a tad), lol about the models or the porn that is currently being presented, I have nothing but admiration and appreciation for the job that the staff does here, and you, Mark, Chuck and Sha run a first rate customer friendly operation, and for that I say thank you! :thumbup1:

I know that; I'm not an idiot. My point was they should have started a thread once the site was back up to explain what occurred instead of relying on twitter or other media platforms to get the word out.

Wow, gives new meaning to "Damned if you do, damned if you don't".....sounds like Twitter was an effective way to communicate that the site was experiencing some difficulties! Some members were able to get that information.....some were not. I guess the important thing is they're up and running again and still working on residual issues?

How did you survive it Mikey?? Are you alright?? LOL

I was out of the country for a week and just got back this weekend. So what happened? Was it a nationwide event affecting several websites on the net? Or just confined to a few sites?

Although maybe I'll find the answer somewhere else in the thread or the forum. haha

It kind of speaks to how much we as a people rely and have become somewhat complacent to the conveniences of things like the INTERNET. I live in an area where there are power outages quite often when there are storms. I loose electricity, of course that means cable and phone. For a while, it's the frustration of not being able to find out what's going on around me via the Internet! Then...the reality that depending on the route cause....what's my plan of action. Hot water, food in the freezer thawing out? Thank god for generators! It's also a good thing I have back up APC surge protection for my computer! It gives me time to properly shut down my system so I don't loose valuable data. I'm sure these were concerns for Broke Straight Boys as well?
