Broke Straight Boys TV - Worth the wait

LOL He may indeed be a total wimp when it comes to needles. But we should make no mistake that much of that and other instances are just plain attention-seeking behavior. Kind of what you'd expect from a camera hog who needs and craves being in the limelight at all times.
Which is precisely why Mark sought him out, years after Jimmy's leaving the site, to be featured on at least the first five episodes of an eight episode season, and from the teaser at the end of episode five, someone is going to be thrown out of the house in episode six. I wonder who it might be???????

Basically all of the antics you mention are exactly what he is being paid to do.

That's true of course. He is being paid here to be himself because Mark and the other creators of the show had a pretty good idea that he would automatically bring tension and drama. I don't think he needed any financial incentive, scripting or coaching though to be a total pain in everyone's a**. lol I believe with JJ that what we see is what we get. Perhaps he's a much better father than he is a boyfriend or gay for pay model.

Getting back to the first episode though, I found other things quite interesting. I loved when Sha talked about how the site created a community where members got to interact and create relationships with one another. For non members of the site it was left rather vague as to how that was accomplished. But we know he was referring to the forum. :) And he was so right! He said one of the perks of the site that sets it apart from others is that the members are made to feel like they have a personal connection to the models beyond that of simple performers onscreen.

He said that things he takes for granted (in knowing personal things about the models I presume), the members find fascinating. And it's so true. If we find out that a model like Tyler has had a car accident most of us are very interested and genuinely concerned. If we find out that a model is having problems with his parents accepting him doing the video work, we're fascinated, interested and concerned. All the things that humanize the models for us are indeed fascinating. :)

I didn't know that a third of all internet traffic is porn related. I didn't know (but should have surmised) that the first internet sites to charge consumers and accept credit card payments online were porn sites.

Back to the first episode though I was both amused and annoyed by JJ's theatrics in the van on the way to be tested. He said he didn't care whether everybody was tested or not. The he would never ever do a scene without a condom. No way, no how. Acting like he is the one most in danger from the other models. The hypocrisy, the gall and the irony of his stance though is that if there was ever a model who would break the clean quarantine of the house models and have sex with a random stranger before doing a scene...it would probably be JJ. He would be one of the first people you might expect to see break quarantine after testing and have sex with some woman of unknown STD status. lol In a closet, in the bathroom stall of a club, in a car in the parking lot...wherever.

I just found it be typical JJ that he would act holier than thou about being super safe, when the majority of the models probably have much more to fear from working with him, than vice versa.

But all kidding aside, what do you really think about Jimmy, Tampa? :sneaky2:

Again, I look at this all as a "reality TV" show and Mark knew who to call back to pretend he was a part of the current rotation of models when the show was being recorded, although he had been gone from the site for years. Mark hired Jimmy to do a specific job for him on the TV show and again Jimmy delivered in spades portraying exactly who Mark and Sha wanted him to portray himself as. For me it is all entertainment and very little is truly real but that goes for the whole genre of reality television.

One of the cliffhangers of the show so far was the result of JJ's STD testing. Yet after that episode it was just dropped with no further mention. Will we ever see a follow-up on that story? Did he get a dirty test result? If so, what did he have? If not, did the second round come back clean?

If those questions will be answered in further episodes, then a simple "Stay tuned" will suffice. :) If not, can you please give us any details on what went down there?

I must say I enjoyed reading your synopsis of the episode and your points about how Broke Straight Boys does differ from other sites in that, it is more of a community and the feelings people develop for the models and other members as fascinating. I would say it's human nature to develop these feelings when given someone's back ground, getting to know more about them, be it through what they say or their writing styles or, being able to see them as the people they are and the personalities that make them, who they are.

With that being said, I have enjoyed the episodes thus far. And even though there are some things mentioned that give more insight to how it all works...at least at Broke Straight Boys, I still look at it as entertainment. Not unlike watching any number of the shows based on Reality that I enjoy. The difference of course, being that it's about a porn site and the guys on it, that I subscribe to and enjoy. Though I am sure to enjoy reading comments about assumptions, conclusions, opinions and even speculations, (I do that with my friends about RHOA and GoldRush ) I don't want to loose sight of the fact that, it's a Reality-Tv show. It's designed to draw me in, like or dislike a character and be entertained all at the same time. BTW and way off Topic but, Beth hasn't weighed in on the show! Is she visiting her daughter still?:anyone:

i think what was said about the test was the jimmy's results were inconclusive. that would be the reason paul was drafted to do a scene with Denver. in September of 2013 an episode appeared on this site and was pulled. at that time we were told that it be released later because of its connection to the reality series. I think there would have been, at least one episode on Broke Straight Boys with jimmy.
jimmy had been away from Broke Straight Boys for about 18 to 20 months. that was not a very long time.

Good memory Another1. lol I do remember a Denver scene that was put in the rotation of upcoming scenes, and then pulled before its release date. :)

Perhaps Comcast operates differently in various parts of the country. But here in the 'Burgh area here is how you access HereTV:

1. You click the On Demand button and the On Demand menu shows on the screen.
2. You select Premium Channels and all the premium channels show up.
3. You go to the Here TV choice and click on that and the Here TV menu appears.
4. One of the choices on the Here TV on demand menu is "Broke Straight Boys".
5. You click on that item and the menu appears for Broke Straight Boys And as of 12:05 am EST today (1/5/15), it gives only Episodes 101,
102, 103, 104. They are the same ones which have been available since 12/19.
6. Any other item on the Here TV menu which might include Broke Straight Boys episodes also shows only those 4.

Mark - you have to get the distributor which I assume is Here TV to get on Comcast and tell them that the show is not being treated the same in all regions of the country by Comcast.

I'm surprised that more people haven't gotten involved in posting about the episodes. I've tried to not give away any spoilers for those who are only getting to see each episode one week at a time. I figured that I would talk about the second episode of going to Vegas. I was very pleased that some of our favorite models got the chance to see Vegas while they were still young. It's always nice to see our membership dues giving our favorite models experiences like this. Especially so when that they would never have been able to see and experience these places otherwise at that age. Heck. I've never been to Vegas! lol

I was touched by the angst and concern Sergio had for his girlfriend, her parents, and how things were playing out back home among his own family and friends. I think we all can imagine (from the fearful experiences of coming out) the horror of worrying about whether your family and friends would freak out once it became known that you were a model on a gay porn website. Even though it's gay for pay, most people won't make that distinction in assuming someone has to be gay if they're doing gay porn at all.

Of course no episode so far would be complete without talking about the ever controversial JJ. I don't see him really as an alpha male type. Mainly because I don't see him as being a good role model for other models/friends to follow, or to look up to, for advice and guidance. Years ago and sight unseen as to whether he could perform on a porn set, he was immediately hired and offered a one year contract. Then once he knew he had a contract, he acted like he held all the cards and leverage. So then he decided he was going to tell Clay the director how things were going to be. He made it clear after the contract was signed that even though he was hired to be a gay for pay model, that he would not bottom. Then he made it clear as a model hired to do gay porn that he didn't want to have to suck dick either.

So in this episode of the show Jimmy is being typical Jimmy. Sha talks to JJ and Denver about the choreography of their scene as Sha mentions getting the orals part of the scene done first. Jimmy says that he's not sucking dick. JJ's previous Broke Straight Boys boss Clay let JJ dictate to him how things were going to be on his own set. And JJ succeeded in walking all over him. He never did get JJ under control. JJ didn't care if his scenes were any good to watch because he knew the company had to pay him for them regardless.

JJ did do several oral segments on Broke Straight Boys that were horrible efforts. He didn't even try to try to do a good job for the cameras.... Or for all the members paying his salary and paying for the privilege of watching his scenes. He deliberately and purposely did such a lousy job of sucking dick that (as he had hoped and planned for all along) they eventually stopped asking him to do it at all.

On full display of the cameras JJ is here once again telling his boss (now Sha) how things are going to be on Sha's set. Even though he's the employee getting paid with the money of the subscribers of the site, he's arrogantly dictating the terms of what he's going to do in a scene. Like he's so wonderful that the site can't possibly survive without another scene from him.

"I don't suck dick. You know that." *smile* (As Sha's jaw drops with incredulity at the presumptuousness of it.) Then JJ goes on to tell Sha that he's never sucked dick. Then since JJ and Sha both know that's a lie and he'll be caught in it later, he backtracks. Then he tells us viewers that he has done it a few times in the past. He says that when he has sucked dick in the past that he's always insisted in getting (and receiving) a lot more money for it above and beyond his originally agreed upon rate. Then he admits that he still did such a lousy job at sucking dick for a very high salary that the directors (presumably Men.com and others sites too) got wise to him and refused to throw more good money after bad. So he said they refused to have him do any more oral segments. And certainly not for any extra money above his standard rate.

Then it appears to show Sha and JJ after negotiations off camera, with Sha finally agreeing to pay JJ presumably a bunch more money just to do orals in his scene. JJ's a hustler. And I mean that not so much in the obvious sexual connotation but as a scammer. He knows how to use his certain charms to manipulate people into doing his bidding. He's good at it. He would have taken that extra Broke Straight Boys money and still done a lousy job sucking dick. Thank goodness the scene never happened anyway. There was a certain poetic justice to the fact that the scene got cancelled because of a dirty or questionable STD test result, from no other than JJ himself. And the site is no worse off for the loss of one last JJ video.

I think I might be in the minority here, these shows were a turn off for me (I saw them on Here TV Premium youtube).

I did not care to hear about I really have to get back to a girl (paraphrased) and the fact some of the Broke Straight Boys models were acting like it was a chore what they were doing. Just gave me a uneasy feeling going back and watching them in a scene. At least for me I want to see enthusiasm (if you're not happy doing what you're doing, go find another line of work).

Before I get taken to the woodshed for my comments, I am not saying all Broke Straight Boys models had that attitude, just enough to make me not want to watch again.

Peace
Bill

P.S. I do love the site.

No woodshed Bill. lol

People have usually fallen into two camps on the contents of the show so far. Some like you don't like to see the fantasy illusion broken by the more honest opinions of the models towards doing the gay for pay work. Some feel let down to hear models say that they are faking enjoyment in their scenes.

Others like the idea of a reality show being very honest about who the models are as people and their honest opinions about their fellow models as well as doing the video work. I tend to fall more into that latter camp myself. I like the more honest opinions and insights of the models. But I would never say that those who wished the models wouldn't divulge too much are wrong. :)

Hi Bill - welcome to the forum.

I'm with you on this and I'm glad that I do not subscribe to Youtube and am not surprised that no uk channel took up the series. I really wish that Broke Straight Boys would get back to guys having a quick chat and then getting on with the sex. Sometimes I think less is better and I feel that way towards the information we know about models. Recently we've had the "straight" thing stuck down our throats on the scenes, the studio and now it appears like the TV show. The way they keep throwing it down our throats seems to think they've got something to hide..

It is amazing to me that still after all this time you can get all worked up over Jimmy. The bottom line is that even after his supposed under performing year on Broke Straight Boys where he was basically stealing money from the members by not doing what he was supposed to, but he was still the only Broke Straight Boys model, (past or present) who Mark put on the television show DTLA and then when it was time to shoot the Broke Straight Boys-TV show he was also invited back and through the first five episodes, I would say he is the star if the show, the villain, but definitely the focal character. In my mind, Jimmy wins again. and I'm proud of my boy!

I didn't realize you did a second post on Jimmy, Tampa. All I can say in addition to what I said before is that this is show biz. It was a television show, not real life. :001_smile:
