Broke Straight Boys TV - Worth the wait

If we talk about contrived...I'd say that as far as things being set up, I'd have to hand it to JJ for always trying to create both fake and real drama that keeps the camera and attention on him. Hey... It works for him. That whole scene in the diagnostic lab for bloodwork was just over the top absurd. lol Asking the technician to put his chair all the way back like a bed, asking that Sabrina hold his hand while he screamed and carried on like a 5 year old little girl... I was just like, "Really dude?" LOL They should have given him a few Kleenex, a lollipop, a balloon, a colorful sticker to put on his shirt, and a chance to go potty again before he left. Maybe Sabrina should have promised to take him to the Dairy Queen drive thru on the way back home so she could get him a kiddie ice cream cone with pink sprinkles on top...for all of his trauma. :001_rolleyes:

Yeah. Again for JJ... The award for Best Actress in a Dramatic Role...goes to the sissy-ist supposedly "straight" guy in the whole house. LOL

Here's newly posted critique of the BSB TV. A straight-ish guy gives a sarcastic take on the whole scene. The public comments to the vid on YT (in only 24 hours) are already entertaining in their own right.

Hahaha. I loved it. This kind of thing would make great bonus material for the site. Have the models do like a commentary for their hardcore scenes and offer that as a bonus. I would love to hear what some of them are thinking.

Thanks for sharing, Tampa.

I watched this last night after work and I was too tired to comment on it. I found it be basically a cheap shot by a snarky queen. He could do what he did with any reality program, tearing it apart frame by frame with sarcastic comments. The whole genre of reality programs are all set up to present sometimes fake drama, but it was a major undertaking for BluMedia and it actually turned out rather well, highly produced and it looked as slick as any network reality show. Speaking as a big fan of Broke Straight Boys, I found this video insulting to an extensive and expensive undertaking by Mark and company which actually turned out as well as one of these reality series could have turned out. Just my :twocents:

Wow, I didn’t get that at all. But, I’m used to these kind of “reaction” videos and they are VERY COMMON. It can be a song, a movie, or any video, which is why I suggested maybe some of the models reacting to their own work, kind of like audio commentary on a movie dvd. I look at it as free advertisement for anyone unfamiliar to maybe check out these amazing episodes. Maybe even join the site. This guy commenting has 164K subscribers and over 27K people have already watched this, and it was published 2 days ago. I didn’t read a lot of the comments, but the few I saw were mostly poking fun of Paul Canon, who has totally brought all of that on himself. I know it seemed like this YouTube guy was poking fun, but I actually think he was totally into it. I have to admit that I haven’t seen much of this Broke Straight Boys-TV and this video made me want to go back and check it out.

I have to say that you both make some good points. I was a little put out with the guy making so many snarky, sarcastic comments on the video. The company put a lot of effort, worry and cash into this endeavor. They tried hard to make it entertaining, informative and a good marketing tool to get new subscribers who would otherwise never know of the existence of the site. So it is tough in a few places to see the guy being really harsh.

On the other hand though he is also giving the show and the site a lot of unexpected free publicity. So I think that's a very good thing. And Jay is right (perhaps regrettably so) that sarcastic "reaction" videos, rather than those full of praise, are more common than the latter. I'm not one of the guy's followers on YT. But I accidentally found it. So that means that many thousands of others will be viewing it also. If the site were to try to re-release the same videos on tv it would cost a fortune. One guy can find some new way to present an older video series and suddenly it has some new life and renewed interest. And the company didn't have to spend a penny.

People commenting on YT are strongly encouraging the guy to continue posting critiques of the other installments of the series. They want to see how the series plays out. That's why I was so pleased to be able to share this with everyone. Because it shows the company and members that even though the series might seem like it has already played itself out and reached its greatest potential...that even today it's still showing some cultural relevance and the capability of generating new interest in the public eye. :)

Here's Part 2.

It was only posted yesterday and has over 21,000 views.

I am going to sit down soon and actually watch all the episodes. But I do want to know....how did Paul Canon’s mother find out about his porn?

I liked this episode a lot more than the first one. And the host, Michael Rizzi seems to have abandoned his snarky attitude. He even said that initially he intended to trash the show but by episode two he was getting invested in it. And even though he refuses to say Jimmy Johnson's name properly, he did say "I definitely have a crush on Jimmy John". I can see Jay and Tampa's point that this youtube series may actually get more people to watch the TV show and perhaps even subscribe to Broke Straight Boys Who would have thought that the TV show would get a new life and audience here in late 2019?

And to Jay, I definitely think you should watch the whole TV show. It is right up on the site so why not learn more about the Broke Straight Boys of yesteryear, including Damien and Paul, and Denver and Cage Kafig, Sergio and yes "Jimmy John"....I mean Jimmy Johnson. And as an aside, any negativity you are reading about Ethan Steel on the forum, double that, no quadruple that to get some idea of the "vitriol" that was shown to Jimmy during his tumultuous year as the featured Broke Straight Boys

I am now enjoying this you tube series reviewing Broke Straight Boys-TV in retrospect.

Paul Canon Comes Clean With His Mom

1259-cover.jpg

In this exclusive interview, model Paul Canon travels back to Florida to visit his parents in order to come clean about his decision to pursue a career in porn. The Broke Straight Boys crew tags along and meets the Canon family to get their perspective on his decision. Open to discuss anything and everything, the Canons also bring to light a pivotal moment in Paul's life that changed everything.

This was possibly his most positive critique of the series yet. He actually brought up an important social point here. When Denver talked about how it was unnerving and annoying that random people at events felt like they could take liberties of randomly touching them inappropriately just because they did porn modeling...the commentator pointed out that women have to deal with that kind of sexual objectification all the time. So maybe it's an education for all the models here who claimed to be so straight, that their pretty girlfriends might like to be respected and treated as more than just a piece of a** also. Food for thought there. Huh? haha

The commentator Mike also did splice and dice some of these videos to eliminate what for him might have been filler and fluff that he didn't feel needed any particular commentary from him. That said, it was kind of construed here (in the shortened vid) and after the call from Sabrina, that Denver and Jimmy both got bad test results. Sha seemed to say that he would send both Jimmy and Denver back to the testing lab, etc. Was he unfairly putting Denver in the hot seat too and creating doubt in the viewers' minds about Denver's STD status, just to soften the embarrassment for Jimmy? As far as we know, the only model in the whole house who ever had an STD problem and had to go back to the lab...was Jimmy. Were we wrong about that?

Jimmy certainly didn't need (or in my mind deserve) any coddling or special consideration for his predicament. With a live-in girlfriend and kids at home, let Jimmy be held accountable for his own actions if he's cheating on her, left and right, with other women. Perhaps I'd feel differently if he was more likeable. haha

Denver doesn't come across all that great in this particular vid. But he was certainly a better porn performer than Jimmy. By far! If I were him, I'd certainly be annoyed if I was made to look on national tv like I had an STD that I didn't have.

That is an amazing story. It's one of the most meaningful and provocative BTS videos on the site. And that's saying something.

Great points buddy,

I'm thrilled for the site that the tv series is getting so much new attention and fresh eyes after all these years. :) I'm also enjoy reading the YT comments almost as much as seeing the new critique vids. haha

I remember watching this when it was released. Paul Canon was the reason I joined Broke Straight Boys the very first time. There’s definitely no question about Paul or his brother Alex’s sexuality now. The song that comes to mind is Tom Jone’s, “She’s a Lady”. But, I still love him and worry about him.

I suggested that you watch it when you asked about Paul's mother. I didn't realize that Paul was the reason that you originally joined Broke Straight Boys I hadn't watched it myself since it first was released in 2014. Now I did re-watch it this afternoon and it is really well made, with excellent production values as usual by Damian Christopher. There is no question that Paul Canon had "it" as his biggest fan at the time, Johnny from Frisco would say. Paul had it all, looks, wit , charm and personality. The camera loved Paul and he played right to it.

I had forgotten the details of Paul's overdose and it was interesting when he said that the only model he could see having a friendship with was Damien Kyle and we now all know about that saga. I also loved the family interaction between Paul, his parents and his brothers. And as many of you know that Paul's older brother, (who said that he knew that both of his brothers were gay from childhood), tragically passed away in an accident.

If anyone has never watched this BTS, or doesn't recall it as I had not, it is a very worthwhile viewing, in my opinion.
