Broke Straight Boys TV - Worth the wait

I laughed out loud at the beginning when he edited in the “Sure, Jan!”

I love how this guy is totally into the series now and has a crush on Jimmy Johnson. Great episode!

LOL. Episode 3 was awesome. It was released yesterday and has almost 32K views. Sha gets a shout out in this video too.

At one point Kaden Alexander mentions possibly losing friends if they found out he did porn. I can imagine people having strong opinions, but I can’t ever imagine losing a friend over doing porn.

Anyway, great episode and look forward to more.

I totally agree Jay. This is a hoot. The host Mikey is into it as am I. I actually laughed out loud a few times. I watched the original show on HERE-TV which we had to buy a subscription to get it, but it was very cool at the time to be seeing our favorite Broke Straight Boys on our own home TV's. I see that I had forgotten a lot of the content like the "date" with Kaden Alexander and the girl walking out. I do remember the upcoming drama when Jimmy Johnson and Cage Kafig have their Cage Kafig match and of course when Jimmy's girlfriend or "baby mama" comes to the mansion.

Re-watching the condensed version of the show and with Mikey's commentary is definitely a lot of fun. I too can't wait for the next installment. My opinion of this has totally changed from my first watching of Episode One. And I think that the host has a crush on "Jimmy John" as do I. lol :smiley-love021:

I am loving it too. I’m probably stupid for asking this, but has anyone at Broke Straight Boys thought about sending this to Netflix to see if they would pick it up? They’re constantly adding new content. They picked up that Drag series on YouTube called, “Hey Queen”. I don’t know, it’s just a thought.

Oh Yes. It happens. Especially for the straight or straight-er gay for pay models. I seem to remember that Spencer Todd faced a very tough backlash when he got home and supposed friends started finding out.

Here's Spencer's BTS vid. Oddly enough for whatever reason he didn't do a BTS when he first arrived at the site. He does this one at the end of his career with Broke Straight Boys The video has a rather sad swan song quality to it precisely because it's a farewell vid rather than an introductory one. He's so mature at this point and worldly beyond his years. It's one of the most thought provoking and substantive BTS's since Dakota Ford's.

I'm very happy that Sha was getting so many positive shout-outs from Mike in Part 3. Thanks for finding and posting it Jay! :)

no problem. I started following him on Instagram, and he posted a story saying that it was coming out. I think he's from Canada.

Wow!

It's been a few years since I've watched these episodes. It makes me want to go back and watch them in full. Anyone who knows me from over the years in here knows that I am not a fan of Jimmy John. So it's difficult, if not impossible, for me to be evenhanded in my interpretations of the drama here. We are told by JJ's baby mama/girlfriend(?) that he is "mean" to her. So it's left to the imagination whether that means that he is merely cold towards her at times, or crossing the milder line towards being actually emotionally abusive...or even to the extreme of being physically abusive towards her. Her body language and the carefulness of her choice of adjectives... Along with the awkwardness and the fear her eye contact conveys as she throws out the words "mean to me"...leaves plenty of room for various interpretations.

We know that he is regularly unfaithful to her. That's just a given. If he'll be unfaithful to her at least twice, when he knows he's being followed around by a camera crew and plenty of witnesses, one can only imagine how often he's doing it in his personal life where he has much more privacy and anonymity. And that's the father of her children. So she can't just walk away and never look back.

Then there's a vague mention of JJ being mean to Cage Kafig. So apparently there's already bad blood and a backstory as to why Cage Kafig is ready and willing to share JJ's dirty laundry with the girlfriend. Mike Rizzi would appear to be justified on the face of it about not sticking your nose into other people's personal relationships, etc. But if JJ was already being mean to Cage Kafig before this...Cage Kafig's actions would seem to more understandable, even if not completely justifiable from the moral high ground. Obviously though JJ himself was standing in the gutter of the ravine next to the much taller moral high ground. So he's not a very sympathetic figure here. Of course all of the guys were aware of, and talking about, JJ's infidelity. It was hardly a secret. It would seem though that Cage Kafig was the first one to actually spill the beans to her. Maybe Cage Kafig saw it as a form of payback.

Of course the real victim here was not Jimmy. It was his girlfriend. He obviously either didn't care or didn't give much thought as to how much his infidelity would hurt her. He's not very emotionally mature at this point in his life. He's selfish and wants what he wants, when he wants it. And apparently he has few filters to heed any red flags about the consequences of his actions.

OMG! Is this “The Real Housewives of Colorado”? Lawd have mercy.
Well, I can understand it not being Cage Kafig’s place to tell the girlfriend, but she was going to find out anyway watching the show back. Wasn’t it knowledge in the first episode that Jimmy fooled around with a girl at the house party?
I do love how Mike asks Sha questions in the middle of the episode...lol. Sha, I think you need to do a one on one recap of the whole series with Mike.
Anyway, is it bad that I now have a crush on Mike Rizzi?

Great Episode!

I am absolutely loving re-watching this series through the eyes of Mike Rizzi. I can't believe that I disliked Mike after the first episode. I now love him. He is so funny and insightful as well. I literally laughed out loud when Sergio was telling Jimmy what was the on the menu for the dinner he prepared for Jimmy and Elizabeth, and Mike said, "Asparagus, mashed potatoes and chicken is the most straight people meal I ever heard of". And also how it is "white people food with no seasoning". I love Mike Rizzi!

And once again I say that Jimmy John, er I mean, Jimmy Johnson is the star of the show and of course he was brought in by Mark to spice up the series and to create drama. For anyone who does not know, Jimmy had completed his one year with Broke Straight Boys at the end of 2011, and his last scene on the site was "Jimmy & Bradley" released on Mach 8, 2012. But Mark called Jimmy back to film the Broke Straight Boys-TV show five years later and also hired the mother of his kids for added dramatic tension on the show. The series debuted in March of 2016, so there had been a five year gap between Jimmy leaving the site and the release of the show.

And I'm glad that Mike Rizzi stuck up for Jimmy too after he kicked Cage Kafig's ass in his own game of Cage Kafig fighting. Mike said about Cage Kafig, "You stuck your nose in someone else's business and he kinda handed you your ass". And that karma has a way of coming back. Right on Mike Rizzi!

By the way, Mark continued his friendship with Jimmy and knowing how he drew attention and viewers to his projects when he hired Jimmy again to appear in two episodes of the Logo TV series that Mark was involved with, DTLA released in 2012 when he hired Jimmy to appear in two episodes in the cameo role of Bobby.

I love Jimmy John!!!!! I mean Jimmy Johnson LOL And I am loving Mike Rizzi and his series as well. I eagerly look forward to the next episode.

With respect to my dear friend Mikey, I think he might be over-stating things just a bit.

Even at the end of the Broke Straight Boys-TV show itself there is no sign of an actual friendship between JJ and Mark. By the end of this tv show, JJ was very rude to Mark and the staff and was therefore unceremoniously given the boot. JJ certainly did not deliver on a ratings bonanza during his one year contract here on the site either. A few years ago I did an up-to-date calculation of JJ's scene ratings. He had a tiny handful of scenes with ratings in the 4+ zone. (Those were mainly when he was paired with the best A-list models of the day.) A majority of his scenes however got ratings of 2's, along with a smattering of 3's. I found that his average scene rating of all of his porn scenes put together was a whopping 3.5. That's pretty awful. Any model today who has a scene rating average below the low 4's would be given the boot quickly and never be invited back.

I can guarantee most people who weren't here at the time that JJ's scene ratings were even lower while he was here, than the 3.5 average rating well after he had left. He was so over-exposed and so adamant about not bottoming along with not wanting to suck a dick...that I can go out on a limb and say that if the same calculation had been done right at the end of his year here, that his average scene rating would have been closer to 3.2 or even 3.1. Time has been kinder to his current ratings because new people can watch his vids in the archives at their leisure, without having to deal with all his cumulative baggage in his BTS's and his porn vids put together. Nor do they have to contend with the weariness and boredom of seeing constant scenes with him about 2-4 times every single month for a year. (With average rating scores of less than 3.5)

Plus even though JJ himself may be proud to say that he was on a national tv show (the DTLA tv show), it would have generated far more interest here on the site if just about ANY other Broke Straight Boys model had been chosen for the role besides him. Mark had a very tough time promoting and cheerleading the DTLA tv show here in the forum and on the site precisely because of the casting of JJ for the show. I actually felt sorry for Mark at times during that process. DTLA should have been a huge hit with Broke Straight Boys members. But because many of us suspected all along that the choice would be ("the face of Broke Straight Boys") JJ, the announcement of the show was met mostly with a combination of merely polite acknowledgement, no acknowledgment at all, along with perhaps the equivalent of a few yawns. (I could even pull up the old thread(s) to show the general ambivalence to DTLA when it was announced that JJ was the Broke Straight Boys model chosen for the show.)

So I'm sorry. But I never saw any evidence that Jimmy John and Mark were ever friends.

When I said "friends", I have no idea if they ever chit chat or socialize but they apparently had a professional association, as Jimmy was the one invited back to appear in the role of one of the "Broke Straight Boys" for the TV project, five years after he was no longer a model on the site. And Mark also hired the mother of Jimmy's kids to be flown in for a segment on the show. And in an upcoming episode we will have the "drama" of Jimmy being thrown out of the house, (of course the reality was that he had no longer been employed by the actual website for five years).

This was classic reality TV stuff and I believe that Jimmy played his role to a T. Even today in 2019 Mike Rizzo is all into the Jimmy Johnson character on the series. Mark made a wise business decision when he brought back Jimmy for the TV show to recreate the Jimmy Johnson character from Broke Straight Boys in 2011 to be featured on his cable TV project released in 2016.

Episode 1 is now up to 92,000+ views.

Episode 2 is up to 90,000+ views.

Episode 3 is up to 65,000+ views.

And Episode 4 is up to almost 24,000 views.

So it's still going strong.

I used Jimmy Johnson in DTLA because there wasn't many models available on such short notice so that is why I chose him. I feel like DTLA was way too complex and confusing and that is why it didn't do well IMO. I never feel like members didn't watch DTLA because of JJ but I do feel like a different model would of been better.

As for the TV show JJ was a pain in the ass. The drama around JJ was all real and nothing was staged so that was great. He was very abrasive especially with Cage Kafig. I put him in the show because I knew he would be a lot of drama which he was. I hope that answers your questions.

I've watched the Ep 4 reaction video again. The first time seeing the full video years ago, and even the shorter edited reaction video a few days ago, I was absorbed with my dislike for Jimmy's behavior. After watching it again I feel so much empathy an concern for his girlfriend. The production of this was very good in terms of having the soothing yet somewhat melancholy light jazz music while she poured her heart out about all the demons and dysfunction of their relationship and family life. She was definitely holding back. But at the same time her eyes and body language were saying much more than just her words.

God bless her. After having 2 kids with him starting at 16 for her, and being a somewhat single-ish(?) very young mom...it's not an easy life for her.

Wow. I appreciate the fact that you took the time to respond at all to some of these issues. You didn't have to of course.

I'll admit something I don't think I've ever admitted in here before. As much as I don't like Jimmy... 0r better said, that I don't like Jimmy's actions and behaviors of the past... I will admit that casting him on the Broke Straight Boys-TV show was a good idea from a production standpoint. While we can rarely discuss hypotheticals with any certainty in our predictions of outcomes, the show (IMO) could have been a snooze fest without Jimmy as an antagonist. A bad-boy villain type to stir up some drama and to create some thought provoking moral and ethical dilemmas. Whether we like it or or not for what it says about the state of human evolution at this stage of our development, reality tv needs a villain sometimes to hold the audience's interest. So Jimmy fulfilled the role everyone pretty much expected him to deliver on. haha

Because of Jimmy the show has some depth and more evenly spread out drama. I would have hated for instance after all the hard work, the worry, and the money...for the whole show to be boiled down by the wider audience to only one or two non-Jimmy dramatic moments. Like which models on the show are possibly more or less racist than the others. If that had been the primary takeaway...that would have been a very sad legacy for the show. A sad ending also for all the wonderful people, (staff, production, editing etc.,) and including so many wonderful models who put themselves out there emotionally for public praise and/or ridicule.

Many of the models gave of their time of course but also took risks and really jeopardized their personal relationships back home with family, loved ones, employers, etc., in order to get this show on the air to the public. (And yes. If I'm intellectually honest about it, that would also include Jimmy in that previous sentence.)

Here's some interesting viewer reactions to the last reaction video.

Love how this show low key is educating us about working class Americans - teenage parents, teens kicked out of their homes, and people just struggling to make ends meet.

If you weren't aware, the house that's used for the show & BluMedia is in Boulder Colorado (outside Denver) and very close to UC Boulder. They always have str8 college guys at the house. Just another house in the neighborhood lol

man everytime after I watch I have to jo to Jimmy John videos lmao

So far Mike hasn't released another video in the series. This last one stalled out a little bit in the viewer hits. I'm not sure why. If you don't watch it you have no idea that you won't like it. Hopefully Mike will continue the series to the end. He may have already filmed the rest of the reaction videos but he's holding back on the timing of their releases. We'll see.
