A Message To Our Members:

While there have been some great gay porn directors who had degrees in film, Toby Ross and Tom DeSimone come to mind a degree in film production would not help in knowing what is erotic and what isn't. The best have always been those who instinctively know what turns people on. If they don't have that sense they will never be top flight. It's like trying to teach a tone deaf person to sing on key.My frustration was/is that I tried to offer solutions and got nowhere. What really hurts to see are moments that could have been wonderful lost for good by people who simply failed the members and the talent. Seriously when a cameraman can't do the simplest things like clean the camera lens, shoot in focus, not realize he is shooting into light when outdoors, what are the chances he will go the extra mile to get the difficult shots?
When I was shooting I always shot the A camera myself and that way I was sure i had what I needed when it came time to edit. I realize this is not the same but were whomever has been shooting was working for me I would have looked at what he was shooting and fired him about ten minutes in. The issue is simple you don't get two bites at the apple. You either get the shot or you don't. If you don't it is lost. If you don't respect the work, or the members, or the talent why do you do it?

With all due respect, I believe that those members that have been here for a while know that we do respect the work as well as our members and our talent. I don't believe that has ever been in question.

Well, as a new member who has now seen the archives and read the forums, I BELIEVE it is now in question. Paid posters are not long term members. They are just what they are. Let me assist, if I may, with all respect.

If the mission is "what will straight boys do for money", providing direction that says, give me something special or unusual or outside the box is hardly direction (David saved the last scene... hardly the direction provided). The camera work was sub par ... what does it take to have David spit in Justin's mouth again or the missing penetration shots. Your apologetic diatribes are really not helpful. I think the look and reaction by Justin when he was told to take Davids clothes off shows the respect he has for the director. in the end he got what was going on, but that came from David.

If you unable do film, hire someone. Also, I get it... writing off the house is a significant tax savings, we have all seen it on film... it is not used as an incentive. Performers are not saying, "I'm doing it to stay in the house for a week." And just one more thing... all the performers HAVE to say is, "Just pay me and I'll do it." That requires they follow a direction. Doing vanilla sex for money is the minimum expected can make performers little more than the hustlers on Santa Monica Boulevard. Here is how it plays... we (members) pay you and you (Management) pay them (performers). That means you are their boss, and you are seemingly playing the role of their John. Sorry Sha, but that is how it looks and you are demonstrating nothing that makes it look otherwise. David is quality and Justin, when properly directed shows quality.

I am sure you are a nice guy. I am equally sure that sometime in your life you have had sex that did knock you into next week. I have met a few for whom vanilla sex is enough, but they are few and far between. If you have not had that kind of sex or need the gay Karma Sutra for inspiration, WOW, are you in the wrong industry.

I have 11 months and two weeks, I believe, left on my subscription, unless you want to return my money. I'll be here. I am thankful that I was not a member during the year Peter referred to that we should all forget and forgive.

One more thing, when the executives vanish and quality is handed over to those who are "challenged" and members are asked to hang in there and forget about an entire year, can Chapter 7 be far behind.

Dear Sha
I really like you and have the greatest respect for you. But you really need to do something about the set.
Clean it up. All that stuff takes away from the full effect of the boy's.There is just so much going on.
And now with so many tats. It is all just so busy. It does not look like a man cave it looks like where you take preschoolers.
The boys should be what we see. If you look at that video of Bryce I think part of his high marks were because what we saw was Bryce.
Otherwise the year is getting off to a good start. But I just feel the full focus should be on the models.
That's all just needed to get that off my chest Looking forward to a New Great Year on Broke Straight Boys One more time..
Happy New Year too You Sha

While I can only speak for myself (obviously), this is the only site where I feel a sense of connection, either through the forum or even through interactions with various models through social media. It's a nice atmosphere that has been created and established! There will always be times when "the more you get, the more you want" will dominate the boards. However, we've seen models get a second chance, models speak of how well they are treated, we even get more information about what's going on than any other site I've ever subscribed to. That above all of the "technical" issues that arise (of which I have no control) keeps me a regular, voluntary member of this site.

Johnny, I couldn't agree with you any more. We have certainly taken that suggestion and you will see a "less cluttered" set in the near future. Thanks for your suggestion. The guys should and will be the focus. :)

I shall say the same to you, why stay a member??

I question that myself Peter....If I don't like a TV show I change the Channel....If I don't like a certain restaurant I don't go there....If I belong to a porn site I don't like, I go to another that I do......

Rafe and Johnny both make a lot of sense to me. I can't see myself committing to something for a year sight unseen.

And by the way, Lusitania2000, you never directly answered my question if you were ever on the forum before, under another name. Hmmmmmmm???? As the late great Harry Capin once sang,

"Something about her was familiar
I could swear I'd seen her face before,
But she said, "I'm sure you're mistaken"
And she didn't say anything more."

Some o luis' use of language reminds me of a not so noble ovum!!

Well, I am certainly a newbie here and this is what I have to say.

After reading this thread, this is what I have to say.

Just substitute some of the words in the song with words for here. :smiley-love001:

Peace
Bill

I am sure that 2015 will a great year for Broke Straight Boys as always with growing pains comes the glitches but as we all make our way into 2015 wish you the best and hope you don't have to many bumps or bruises

Sha,

Thank your for taking the time to fill us on inthe Behind-the-Scenes at Blue Media. I can imagine that what you have shared with us is put the tip of the iceberg of what is really happenning. I sincerely hope and pray that Johnny regains his health and perhaps one day can resume working (even if part time) for Mark and Blue Media. I felt he was doing an excellent job for the company. And I wish Damian all the best whereever his career has drifted to. Thanks Damian for the memories and the photos.

I know it has been state on several occassions, but feel it needs to be noted again.

1) You and your business partner Bryce were asked by Mark to help out after losing two directors/producers in a very short time span.
2) You and Bryce have your own business to deal with, but found a way to help out Mark and Blue Media during this time.
3) Bryce has not done video in many years, so the transition might not be perfect.

Change is difficult and to expect perfection under these unusual conditions may not be realistic. Since this site was established, it has gone through periods of up's and downs. Do we want that? NO! Does Mark want that? No! Do the Models want that? NO! Rome was not built in a day. Nor can you find a new producer/director videographer overnight. It is not like Mark can place an ad somewhere stating:

WANTED: GAY FILM PRODUCER/DIRECTOR TO OVERSEE/FILM GAY PORN!

Maybe it is me, but I just don't see the Mark's door bell chiming all day long, or the phone ringing off the hook, and the e-mails by the hundreds coming in. And I don't expect Mark to select the first applicant. It takes time to screen them, etc. before a new one will be hired. Yes we have to indure some growing pains, but in the end (no pun intended) life moves on and Broke Straight Boys comes back. So lets give these new emergency video volunteers a little break from the heckling. Mark has never failed to change things when the membership had issues. He ahs always come back. So, lets give him and the Blue Media Staff the chance to do so. And if you have a suggestion for improvement, then suggest it in a professional and decent way (public on the forum, or by PM).

Thanks Sha and Bryce for Pinch Hitting.

Live Long and Prosper,

Vicekid

I am not as familiar as you appear to be with Mark's door bell, telephone or email. I missed the ad in the porn trades. Call Chi Chi LaRue... She, I am sure, knows of someone qualified. Could it be that Mark is hiding the last of the monies before a BK action. Looks like this problem has been ongoing until management took a powder last month.

When I've shared PMs with members of management or people behind the scenes as it were, they share a common sentiment."The forum and the communicating with members through the forum is like a double edged sword"! While it has very positive ramifications, it also create problems. Thus, it's obvious why we go through periods where models, or directors share thoughts, concerns or just try to mix a little on the forum, and then stop!

The answer to your question is no... why would I? Just settling in, but when the toe is mended I will be on the Boards and the site a whole lot less. I will still post though when I feel it. Are you really from Brooklyn. I lived in Park slope when I was getting my degree. I love Prospect Park.

I wish you a speedy recovery!
you got on board a ship you thought was sinking?

I guess it's my fear of commitment! the phone, the porn, and the power like love affairs is on a month to month basis.
I wonder how many organizations would have a spare director on an as-needed contract. an individual will to work for up to 6 months with nothing in the end but a check and a big thanks. oh, during your tenure there will be subscribers who will either lick or bite your face. like cats! who plans to lose their producer? for any reason?
something like luck had a talented commercial producer, who had been brought in to work on a commercial project, still around. he was press into service. very talented commercial producer. as time passed and after having been bitten in the face a few time, he moved on.
I think that if an organization happen to have somebody who could fit the requirements as a spare director, I would think they would use that person while looking for a professional with recent experience. a professional with recent experience is usually available for a limited number of reasons.
if I were a cat this would count as a face lick. always be prepare to have your face bitten off.

I appreciate your giving a direct reply to my question, although I am still dubious about the the veracity of your reply, but at least you did answer my question.

As you may have noticed from my profile that I've been a member here for a long time, and I have an "obscene" number of posts, so I obviously have a lot of affection for this board, as well of the site. As far as the site goes, there have been ups and downs during my time here. I was totally enchanted in the early days, through snippets on the tube sites which enticed me to join. I absolutely loved David and his boys during the days of BSB1. Did I believe all the story lines that David and his boys wove? No, of course not. It is only porn, but it was believable in my fantasy world that Tyler Evans was an innocent 18 year old who went to the car show with his dad and met David. I could believe that Mike Robbins brought his friend Josh down south to meet David to pay off his debt to Mike for wrecking his dirt bike or whatever, and that Alden and Robert were real college roommates who came to Fort Lauderdale during a college break to film gay porn as a lark and discovered how good it was to suck and fuck with their college roommate, and that life back at the dorm was never the same after their two trips to David's studio.

Yes I became bored during the "bottom of the barrel" period of BSB1 when David knew that he had relieved of his duties and was obligated to fulfill his contract with less than stellar models including one transgendered young man who was going through hormone therapy while filming his scenes. I loved the roll out of BSB2 with Jimmy, Jamie, Bobby, Rocco and others, and I became disenchanted with the repetitive nature of Clay's (or is it Shane's) scenes which became formula and not in any way believable that the models were truly in any way heterosexual.

But my point is that I am a loyal subscriber and I love the freedom that Mark has given us on these boards, but for the most part, my fellow forumites have always been diplomatic and civil both to each other, the models and to management. It was said when comparing the comment pages to this forum, that the comment pages are like a sleazy bar on the outskirts of town where bar brawls and perhaps stabbings take place late at night, while the forum is a classy upscale establishment.

When you emerged on the forum a few days ago, Lusitania, with an edge, and a definite point of view, I welcomed you wholeheartedly as I definitely feel that while the core members of the forum are near and dear to me, but that the lifeblood of this forum thriving is a costant influx of newbies, and especially those with an edge. But there is also a fine line between 'edgy' and 'annoying' or even being mean spirited, and that is what I'm afraid you have become Lusitania, in just a few days.

I do love this forum and it's cast of characters, but we are always civil and know how to express our occasional or sometimes continual discontent without being mean and turning this into an internet cesspool. That is why some of the regular long term members here like Peter, Johnny, Juanjo and newer members like Vulcan, Inspireme and others are so turned off to your constant "bludgeoning" of the site and your complaining how you are stuck here for a year.

I asked you after your first cluster of posts to try to be more civil and respectful here as you bring a cloud of discontent to our "happy place", as Danleeh called this forum. So yes, I do thank you for directly answering my question if you were here before, and while I have a great deal of doubt if your reply was genuine, I do appreciate your answer, as we've had people like NobelEgg, and Jeffster and others whose sole purpose here seemed to be to "stir the shit" and it becomes old after a few days, so I would hope that you tone down the vitriol at least a few notches, as I hope the forum will remain my "happy place", and not turn into a field of snipers.

And yes, I do live in Brooklyn, have all my life, and yes Prospect Park is quite pretty, and I hope that if you actually do remain here for a year Lusitania, (and remain on the forum without being banned) that you might lighten up on your act. It is becoming overbearing and annoying to this long term forumite.

I wish you a speedy recovery!
you got on board a ship you thought was sinking?

Thank You for the kind wish.

Not a bad play on my screen name, but I selected it because when one launches their torpedo, I go down
