However, paying 2500 for a duo, plus expenses, overheads and staff - and this is just for one shoot - is a lot of money. Times this by how many shoots they do per month and it's a colosal amount - then of course you have to measure that against the monthly subscriptions, staff wages, etc.

good observation but that is just forum members. I would say the site its self has more members than that. I dont know but if I had to wager a guess I would say that the membership is in the ballpark of 10,000. give or take a few on either end. But again thats just a guess.
