When and how is it best for a model to know when it's time to hang up their hat?

Models leave Broke Straight Boys and other websites for an endless list of reasons. Perhaps its a change in their comfort level, issues relating to home life or a desire to work for a different site etc etc etc. Often I imagine it's management that makes this difficult decision for them. Would be interested for members and managements ideas on this age old and very difficult decision. This topic refers to any model whether at the top of their game and popularity or not.

Some models may not be comfortable with some of the model choices so they choose to go to other studios or quit all together. I’ve always had this weird feeling in my mind that something happened in Atlanta when almost an entire group of models didn’t return, including Jake Spencer, Jonny Cox, Ethan Erickson, and Ricky Daniels. They all had great ratings at the time and most still do. Ethan Erickson did eventually come back after a year, but I think he’s since called it quits.

That is really interesting to me Jay. That was a great group. I am most intrigued by Jake. We know so little about him after his short career here. I actually worry about him as he told us of the rough part of a Chicago that he came from and I sure hope him appearing on a gay website did not lead to anything bad happening to him. If Mark or Sha have any information on him, regardless of if he has any intention to do more porn, but just a report on how he is at this time, I would love to know.

Interesting theory Jaybifla.....You may be on to something. The group of guys you mentioned were all great guys

The most over used model in my opinion is Zach Stevens he did way over 100 episodes on College Boy Physicals and it got so bad for me even if he had an episode with some one I found attractive I still did not watch. Austin Grant was over used too but for me he still had an attraction.

A general answer would be that gay porn is essentially for young men with "The Look" at especially ages 18-22 peak of male beauty and sexual potency, and of course the need for money in that period of their lives. The combination of getting older on one hand and settling down into jobs which lessen the need for money probably combine to morph models out of gay porn into something more permanent in life.

Could not agree more as it should be but as with every thing there are a good number of exception that muddy the waters.

I'd say that the model Diesal also fits the bill of a great model who probably got out at the right time. He still looked great and his personal ratings were quite good as they had pretty much always been. It would have been sad though if he had given the impression of trying to milk a porn career beyond his prime. Some models will try to keep it going even after they've started showing some miles or even a world weary look of boredom and discontent. Diesal did it right and got out at a good time. :)

What is the Atlanta component...I'm lost there? Jay

I am incensed by guys who trash a model because of their looks (in this case a man who is around 35) not their sex which in the case involved gave a great performance as did his partner. Everyone has a right to his opinion but no one has the right to trash a guy for his looks.

Im not sure which model or which poster you are referring to, but I agree that “trashing” a model for his looks is disrespectful to say the least. However at the same time, porn is all about our sexual reaction to the models performing and a models looks can excite us or turn us off.

I have a physical type that turns me on and my favorite models are what I personally consider hot. But I try to choose my words very carefully when referring to a model that I don’t find hot. There is a fine line between being honest yet tactful when talking about a guy who we do not find attractive.

Sorry another site I belong to. As to the model in question not my type but as I said he could not have performed better and frankly I rather see such a player than one I am attracted to if the former gives a superior performance.

I watch a lot of porn and belong to a few sites, so when I see a Broke Straight Boys alumni I usually root for them. So that being said I think the most overused model that begin on this site then other sites is Vadim Black. He is a very handsome looking guy with a great body, but can't do porn for shit!!! He couldn't suck dick, his performance as a top wasn't very good and he had almost no bottom skills. His looks were his only asset and that's what people paid him for. We've had other models like Paul Canon who went on to a pretty good career for about 5 years after leaving here and Johnny Forza who left here for another studio that in my opinion killed his career. Right now the most successful model that started here is Michael Boston. He was never a favorite of mine as he wasn't my type of model, but he does a lot of shoots with big studios and big name stars. So to answer the question "when does a model hang up the hat"? well when studios are no longer willing to pay you then it's time, but if they are then ride it as long as you can......

I really didn't follow Johnny Forza to the other site(s). Can you elaborate on what happened with his career or why you thought the other studio didn't do right by him?

The other studio's owner was a sleezebag who other porn models confirmed was HIV positive and continued having unprotected sex on screen with the models. I believe Johnny signed an exclusive contract with them so he had his hands tied in regards to doing other studios. Also one of my sources LOLOLOLOL told me that the site owner would basically pimp Johnny out for the right amount of money so they could have a big name in their film. Of course I have no proof just hear say. After his contract expired I don't think I've ever seen him in another movie.

Yikes!

If even half of that is true it's pretty awful. I hope the money Johnny made over there was considerable enough to make it somewhat worth all that grief for him. But to be pressured into having sex with a poz sleazebag and then basically to be pimped out... I hope Johnny came out of it clean and HIV free. As for any emotional trauma, who knows. It sure sounds like he had it a whole lot better over here. But then there was also Clay here at the time. Sigh...

Johnny re-located to Dallas Reeves upon the termination of his business relationship with Broke Straight Boys, where he had some fairly good scenes (one in particular with Vadim Black, who also left Broke Straight Boys for Dallas Reeves, only to return perhaps with his hat in his hand.) I refer you to a BTS interview with Vadim Black discussing this very situation. As for my Johnny, all commentary (including mine) should be taken with a grain of salt as we know how rife the industry is with unsubstantiated rumors. Personally I can't imagine Johnny being "whored out by Dallas Reeves or any other site," but who knows? Stranger things have happened to be sure. I can say I have come across him on other sites as well, Men and Big Daddy amongst others. I seem to recall per somewhat reliable sources that he is long retired and doing well. I will have the faith that this has happened, but again have no way to confirm.

Oh yes. It's coming back to me now. Including even Peter's somewhat inside source. lol But yes. Unfortuantely Vadim Black's experience over there was horrific. He thought the grass would be greener elsewhere and found out it could be SO much worse than anything he had seen before.
