I was watching a technically perfect scene in the sense that both gay for pay players are hot muscular but not overly developed players on a well known highly rated site. I gave it a high mark due to its technical perfection BUT it lacked 1 thing. I did not feel there was a passion between the players it was just a way to earn a living. Let's face it the only one's who would do a scene for the love of the sex are young, who love sex of any flavor and have yet to be completely fulfilled in trying everything wrt sex or just can't get enough of it. I invite others to contribute. I want to find out if any of this makes sense or more likely I am missing something.

As you invited others to contribute br, I just want to say what I have said over and over. I believe that Broke Straight Boys is or should be different from other gay sex sites. The mission statement of this site is getting “real straight boys doing whatever it takes to get the bills paid”. The site has changed markedly over the years but this concept does not necessarily lend itself to as you say, lacking a “passion between the players it was just a way to earn a living”. Why does Broke Straight Boys need to be the same as the hundred or more other gay sex sites? I joined to watch real or “believably” real straight guys perform and the lack of passion going was always part of the charm for me. And then the magic happened when we could see the look on their faces of wonderment as they discovered it was so hot for them.
One of my favorite examples was Mike Robbins friend from back home, Josh, who came down to David’s studio to make some money to pay back Mike for messing up his RV, and when he met up with “Porn Shane”, the look of wonderment and passion was amazing. Was it real? Probably not. But the scenario worked for me. That to me is a classic Broke Straight Boys scene, not just two guys making love from the get go, and proceeding to suck cock and rim and fuck and swap cum. You asked, and I answered.

You've made so many good points on the conversation Br started here. Broke Straight Boys is still unique in the product it offers. I wish that fewer of the models were strictly gay. But that is not the studio's fault nowadays. It is what it is. Sometimes I can still love a scene and rate it highly even when the sex is a little clunky and the model or models seem rather clueless about the mechanics of gay sex. Other times I can rate a scene well even when a newer straighter model doesn't follow the whole script and isn't able to follow through with enthusiasm on every assigned task. (Like sucking dick.)
On the flip side two or more experienced models (or those who appear to be openly gay) who are given higher expectations by us in the audience, may get a lower rating in a scene even when they successfully hit all the high points of the choreography. If they look like they are just phoning it in, or just going through the motions...the reaction of the audience here will often give them a lower or more ambiguous rating or review.
So speaking for myself I guess my enjoyment of the scenes is very caught up in many factors other than strictly performance. Like how much I know of the models by their BTS scenes or interviews, how gay or straight I think they are, and then how I rate their actual sexual performances onscreen. Plus, (as Br points out) there's that unscriptable matter of whether there turns out to be a genuine spark or chemistry or sexual tension between them. But again my expectations of models' sexual performances are seen through the prism of my own expectations of them going in. A weaker sexual performance by a newer and/or straighter model may get more praise and a higher rating from me than a much stronger performance from another more experienced model who doesn't meet my higher expectations going in.

Tampa let me correct you on one important point. The scene I was referring to was on another site not this one. Granted Jesse was one of the players. I have seen other young players new to guy on guy sex show after becoming veterans. As you know Tampa, I and many other of the “originalists” forumites share your feelings. As I often say there is a reason that this was the only porn site that I ever joined, because it was different from your run of the mill gay porn online. I am sure you are aware that on other gay sites they get guys who are gay for pay. Now some come in and begin refusing to bottom & when finally convince try it once.
