So true Juanjo. For those who are unfamiliar with Turing and his work, nobody goes so far as to say that the war would have been lost to the Nazis without him. But... Historians estimate that Turing's and his team's contributions to the Allied victory were so great, that at minimum he helped shorten the war by 14 months...and even by as much as two years. That's two more years (even still with an eventual Axis defeat) that not only would people have been dying on the front lines, but also several million more Jews and other prisoners of war being killed in the Nazi concentration camps.

Oh. And Turing also just happened to be a gay man.

What a brilliant but tragic life.

Colton Underwood from the Bachelor came out today. I have never watched the Bachelor so I had no idea who he was. He cute! Any thoughts?

"Sorry ladies, one of TV’s most eligible bachelors is off the table — and out of the closet.

Former “The Bachelor” star Colton Underwood came out as gay on Wednesday.

Underwood, 29, who was on the dating show in 2019, made the admission on “Good Morning America.”

“I’ve ran from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time, and I’m gay,” he told “GMA” host Robin Roberts. “I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it, and the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know. I’m still nervous, but yeah, it’s been a journey for sure.”

He will reportedly appear in a Netflix reality series focusing on his life as a gay man.

Underwood (photo) was the main star of the 23rd season of “The Bachelor” after competing on a season of “The Bachelorette” the previous year.

“I’ve known I was different since the age of 6, and I couldn’t process it, and I couldn’t put my finger on what it was until high school, my Freshmen year, when I knew I was gay,” Underwood told Roberts. “By that time, I had already grown up in the Catholic Church. I had gone to Catholic grade school. I had learned in the Bible that gay is a sin.”

Underwood is a former football tight end who was on the practice squads of the Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders.

The reality star was in high-profile relationships with Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman and former “Bachelor” contestant Cassie Randolph. He and Randolph split last year, with Randolph accusing him of placing a tracking device in her car. She sought a restraining order that she later dropped.

Underwood said he is now the “happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life.”"

I wonder if he really placed a tracking device in her car and why. Maybe to keep track of where she was so she wouldn’t walk in on him getting his dick sucked by a man. LOL.

Good for Colton for evolving to where he honestly wants to and should be in his life. Permit me two tasteless jokes about this interesting article: 1) That explains why he chose "none of the above" when choosing amongst the female bachelorettes; and 2) that further explains the time he went into the gay bar as a tight end and left as a wide receiver!

Ha Ha. This forum is filled with comedians.

I've always enjoyed the actor Brent Spiner who played the android Data on Star Trek Next Generation. But I had not recalled ever seeing any of his work prior to that role. So I was pleasantly shocked to accidentally find out he played a recurring hilarious comedic role on Night Court. Throughout most of the post 1987 years of the show back in those days I was always working the night shift. So it's not a show I was able to really follow.

In spite of the fact that they dress and make-up him to look like a borderline homeless guy, I can't get over how young and cute he is here. haha

I did not know that either! Thanks for sharing this! Now I'm going to revisit Night Court, I'd forgotten about that show, I'm so sick of current TV, there's 300 channels and nothing to watch LOL

I know what you mean Chac. We don't need an additional 200 channels added to our lineup. Just a handful with decent programming. haha

Corey Johnson is the openly gay candidate running in the Democratic primary for NYC comptroller. However until I saw his campaign ad with a clip of his 2000 interview with Anderson Cooper, I didn't know his story of coming out as being gay while being captain of his high school football team back in 2000. This is a wonderful story for us to watch here in Gay Pride month!!!!

Very inspirational, that is our hope for the future!

Here's another that's thought provoking and also a mix of inspiring and yet difficult to watch. It breaks your heart to watch his amazement at the copiousness of our material wealth. (And Cuba's lack thereof.) In the one vid he tells that he could not make a biorthday cake for his daughter because there are no eggs. (At least not available for sale at the moment.)

He says he's been in construction for 20 years. He looks wistfully at the multiple huge rolls of material on the large dolly and he instantly knows it's roofing paper. You can tell he wishes he could take tons of it back home. He says they have all this roofing paper right here in front of him, "and my home gets wet". (Leaks when it rains.) And the same for his mom's home.

Thanks Tampa for posting these. We are so lucky here in the US. Things we take for granted south as just running to the store for some milk and eggs are a major undertaking for other countries. One of my best friends is Venezuelan and her family is still there and the stories she tells me of her family having to source staples such as milk and flour on the black market just make me so sad. She sends care packages to them all the time.

Thanks Chac. I'm glad you find them informative and educational. We do take so much for grated here if we have not traveled or become informed on how the other two thirds of the planet lives. I know of a Venezuelan woman through a friend of a friend who is in the same boat. When she travels back home she tries to save up several hundred dollars in advance just so that she can buy basic, basic staples to take back with her on visits to the family. Flour, sugar, powdered milk, some other highly prized non-perishable goods. Plus treats like candies and chocolates for the children cousins, nieces and nephews. Plus actual cash that she can give the family to help them out. It's amazing how much we take for granted the very easy availability (and relatively low cost) of staples such as milk, flour, sugar, bread, eggs, hamburger meat, chicken, fruit, and vegetables and produce like tomatoes and potatoes.

When you come from a place of lack and hunger, and in this case you're in a country only 90 miles from home...and you see all that obscene amount of food for sale... I'm sure it can feel like an almost violent assault on the senses and the moral conscience.

I agree! This was a great find Mikey. Thanks for sharing it with us. It's also weird to see Anderson Cooper back as young reporter. lol :) I hope this young man's high school experience is a good omen for things to come.
