Never been to the windy city. What is "Boys Town?"

Right now, I am watching Armageddon for the 200-umpteenth time. It is the part where I start crying and I will cry to the end.

It is just past 4:00. I finished shaving and showering. I was thinking I could either heat up left overs tonight or head out to my local pub for Wednesday night "All you can eat fish fry!"

What to do, what to do, what to do!!!!!! Why is life so complicated?

I haven't seen that one Louis.

Oh, man. That is my #1 favorite of all disaster movies. It is a must see movie. It stars Bruce Willis, Ben Afflect, and Liv Tyler (Steve Tyler's daughter) among an addition array of well known actors. Oil drillers are drafted by the US to travel to space and destroy a comet that is threatening the world's extinction. It is full of drama, romance and comedy all mixed in.

Here is the trailer to the movie. I will not tell you how it ends, but it does not disappoint.

This was the theme sound to the movie performed by Steve Tyler and Aerosmith

Here is the FULL MOVIE if you are interested in watching it.

Isn't West Hollywood also known as 'Boy's Town"? I've been to Chicago for business conventions, and baseball games both at Wrigley and what is now called US Cellular Field, but I ddidn't have the opportunity to discover "Boy's Town". Which part of town do the boys come out to play?

Even though this was way, way, way before my time... Whenever I hear someone speak of Boy's Town I think of:

And the immortal words of Father Flanagan: "There's no such thing as a bad boy."

Trivia question.

What other very famous (hint: very poignant) quote also came from the movie Boy's Town?

He ain't heavy, Father; he's my brother.

Big fan of the movie; watch it at least once a year. Also make a small monthly donation to BoysTown.

Ding. Ding. Ding! We have a winner.

I haven't seen the movie since I was a tiny little tyke in the late 60's, maybe early 70's. lol But it still made an impact to this day. Stowe would know the scene better than I. But as I remember it, just as today, most of the orphaned boys obviously had some very hard luck stories, with experiences you wouldn't wish on any child. The oldest of two boys (ages maybe 11 and 5) was recounting to Father Flanagan how they were destitute and he found out about the orphanage from somebody. He tells of how he had to carry his younger brother the final 2 miles (or some other ridiculous distance) in order to reach their destination. Father Flanagan said something like, "My heavens. That must have been really heavy to carry him so far." The older boy humbly replied, "He ain't heavy, Father; he's my brother."
