In KRU we have some 40 different nations within the fraternity.
A huge mural that states/asks "WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE HUMAN?"- a question borrowed from Sylvia Wynter- the first Afro-Jamaican woman to have a novel published in 1962, THE HILLS OF HEBRON, in which she asks and answers this conundrum through multi-layered lenses of gender, race, culture, nationality, religion, economic status.
Speaking out, it seems, is a particularly USA luxury due to a nation founded, imperfectly, on a mixture of English/White hope, slaughter of Indigenous Nations, and enslavement of Poeples of African Descent. The ENGLISH system was either onen was ENGISH and WHITE or one was NON-ENGLISH and BLACK (whether IRISH or AFRICAN or INDIGENOUS). Never forget the English used this system when subjugating the Irish.
This is an issue that the Spanish imported with their CASTAS system that arranged people in a social and economic hieracrchy based upon 'limpieza de sangua"/purity of Spainish blood. Purebloods were considered PENINSULARES/BLANCA then came CRIOLLOS/geographically impure though BLANCA by birth then MESTIZOS/mixed SPANISH&INDIO&AFRICAN then MULATTO/mixed SPANISH&AFRICAN&INDIO then INDIO then NEGRO. The Spanish system had over 80 gradations withpure white being at the top to pure Indio and pure Negro being the bottom two.
The Portuguese, Dutch, and French all had similar systems. Most importantly these were all human-made systems of social classification that determined and pre-determined one's life chances. (e.g.who could be a mayor/alcalde or Bishop or Viceroy or Governor or General or Priest or Banker)
Women were all considered to be ornamental and/or workhorses and babymaking machines.
Today who speaks out on Female Genital Mutilation, a painful procedure that leaves many womyn with fistulas.
Who speaks out on honorkillings, whereby aggrieved male family members usually Muslim in Brazil, Mexico and the Middle East murder female family members who shame the family through inappropriate social behavior.
What about the Taliban murdering young girls and grown womyn who attempt to becme educated or leave the house without a male member of the family accompanying them....
There are a lot of issues that require us as humans to rethink what it means to treat people as humans.

Homosexual men in Texas should join the National Rifle Association, get a concealed weapon permit, join the Human Rights Campaign and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored Poeple and LULAC and an Indigeous Rights Group. There is nothing more intelligent than assisting others in gaining their human rights while being oractical enough to know how to defend your own and go into survival mode.
