I couldn't agree more. I think my least favorite episodes involve 3-ways. What is hot in reality (i.e. underwater sex...very hot in real life, but I have yet to see a pool or hot tub scene that was even close to being erotic or hot...not to mention visible due to the horrendous lighting, and impossibility of clearly seeing what's going on) is NOT hot on film to viewers who are attempting to watch it! With much the same reasoning, orgies and threeways are simply impossible to portray in a 15 minute video shot with one to two cameras. Then throw editing into the mix and you leave out everything the other 50% of the viewers wanted to see! No matter what you do, you're going to annoy approximately 50% of the audience by focusing too much on the models some of us DIDN'T want to see. And it never fails, in orgies and 3ways, every time I see them I end up totally annoyed because the camera concentrates intensely on the one guy I like the least and want out of the scene altogether (which is usually the camera hog, never the underdog). And there are plenty of us out there who tend to root for the underdog.
Even worse yet in 3ways and orgies, the directors and producers seem to find it ir-resistable to get the scene participants to partake in positions and activities that would NEVER be performed in real life (unless they were grand standing for each other, or a crowd). Things like daisy chains, train fucking etc. are just completely out of the norm, and rarely done in real life comfortably or erotically.
What I like about
Broke Straight Boys is the reality genre, and an amateur look and feel to it. But when you start having these guys do orgies, 3ways, group sex (and daisy chains, train fucking, etc.), it completely throws the amateur reality sex idea right out the window and makes it seem like it's trying to become a Falcon porn movie or something...which it's not, and never could be (which is a very good thing...I've never been a fan of falcon porn).
I say let the big name studios stay in California, and keep making DVD's and high budget porn with fancy sets, props, music, etc. They can have their frequent orgy and bath-house scenes that they charge $79.95 per DVD to purchase.
