It is with deep sorrow I have to announce the passing of our forum friend Betu. He passed away suddenly this last
Wednesday of natural causes. Him and I were personal friends off the forum so I'm taking this a little harder.
We met here on the forum and in person 3 years ago on my first trip to NYC. Mikeyank and I had the pleasure
of meeting and spending the day with him laughing and really getting to know each other. He was a very soft
spoken man in a masculine kind of way and I will truly miss his bi-daily emails and phone calls every so often.
He was a happy and young 57 yo with tons of hobbies that included photography, fishing, occasional hunting trip
and the love of new electronic gadgets and a rare person like myself who loved his job. :crying1::crying1:

Sending love and prayers to his family and longtime partner during this hard time

Betu was probably the most positive thinking person I have ever known. He found good in every situation he encountered. Although I didn't know him as well as others here, I feel blessed that our paths in life did cross. I will miss him greatly.

God speed, dear friend.

I am going to miss him..I am going to miss our E'Mails. The five amegos is now four. Such a up positive person He had reached a point.
He was real Happy. Things were just going his way. Much to young to Die. Rest In Peace Richard My Friend. You will be missed.

As one of the 5 Amigos I will truly miss him in my life, I will miss his e-mails, his pictures, his Zest for life....Richard I will truly miss you, and I say this with confidence that I am a better person from knowing you. May you fly high with the Angels !!!!!!!

As the final member of the "five amigos", along with Peter, Johnny and Rafe to check in here, I am still in a state of shock over the incredibly sad news that Peter delivered to me on Saturday morning about the sudden passing of the heart and soul of our email group. Richard had an incredible zest for life with a "child like" sense of wonderment and enthusiasm as he shared with us the details and examples of all the new gadgets and technology that he acquired, and was so proud of. He loved his new camera and at any time we would receive groupings of pictures he took of birds and flowers and nature in the local park. He loved nature and life in upstate New York.

He also had his personal life in a great place, with a long term partner, a nice house that he was so proud of and a good job where he was also a union rep. He was in such a happy place in life, and it is so sad and shocking to lose our friend suddenly and unexpectedly. I guess the lesson is that life is so fleeting and we should try to enjoy everyday that we have as there are no guarantees as to long long it will last. Very very sad news. I will miss Richard very much.

Requiescat in Pace!!

As Peter mentioned in his first post on this thread that Peter came to visit me for a week in New York City in October 2014 and we traveled together upstate to spend a most wonderful day with Richard, (Betu). It was a fabulous full day of getting acquainted, walking through the country and stopping at several restaurants and coffee shops to sit and talk. At the end of our long day which went by in a flash, we posed for pictures in front of one of the local houses in town and here are the pictures of the three of us from that day,

And the next day on the forum Richard made this post about our meeting.
I cannot begin to tell you how amazing a day it was for me! Not only to meet two really wonderful friends from the forum but, to make, what I hope are long lasting friendships! That was the best (and the quickest) six hours I've spent in a while! We laughed, we shared and yes....we threw shade!!!! lol The visit with Mikeyank and Peter definitely made my day...but the surprise Peter shared with me.....made my week! That's all I'm gonna say about that!

I hope that we can do something like this again in the future! I had a blast and memories that will sustain me for a lifetime!

My journey back home through the catskills was also a neat experience! Not only did I avoid hitting two dear as I traveled through the curvy roads at 30 miles an hour, I saw what I thought were rather large black labs running across the road! When I slowly went past the point at which they crossed, only then did I notice they were climbing up a tree! Three tiny black bears! Oh my!

I'm sure glad I had the opportunity to meet Richard and unfortunately it will be the one and only time for such a meeting. Very sad, but I'm grateful that as a result of Peter's trip here, it did happen. RIP Richard, my friend.

That was a very fun day indeed and quick too!! As we can all imagine some people can be different in person then what we know of them from the internet. Richard was not!! He was very smooth talking, intelligent and well rounded individual, well he was just like his posts!! That was so cool for me upon meeting him. And like he said he hoped we develop a long lasting friendship and we all did. Even though we met on this forum it was just a small % of our conversations as real life subjects were what was important to us. He mentioned the surprise I shared with him so I'm going to reveal that lol I know he wouldn't care... It's no secret that Richard, Rafe and I share a fondness for our model Damien Kyle (Damien Kyle) and it's no secret I have a fairly close friendship with him for a few years now. While we were sitting in a bar chatting I arranged for Damien Kyle to call me at a certain time. My phone rang and I answered chatted a bit then handed the phone to Richard. The look on his face was priceless!! and he was speechless at first. Later he told us he was "star struck" that he actually talk to a model that he adored so much. Again it was a day that flew by too fast, but I'm so happy and grateful we continued our friendship and became a part of each others lives. Like what Rafe said "I'm a better man for knowing him" sums up the value of who this man was. Peter

It is no secret that Betu and I did not like each other. He was a major factor in my leaving the forums (thank you to Mayor Mikey for sharing this news with me, or I likely would never have known). That said, I am truly sorry for his passing, and especially at such a young age. He did always seem to be a very well spoken, intelligent man. I wish him peace, and comfort to his cadre of friends here, and hope his family and "real life" friends also find comfort and peace.

Dear Peter,

I seldom visit this forum, these days, but I read your (gentle, and kindly, and beautifully-written) notice, and tribute, with the greatest sorrow. I'm saddened that Betu was taken in such an untimely way. While I didn't know him nearly as well as many of you others, I must say that, in each and every interaction I had with him, he was (each and every time) kind, gentle, civilized, and wise.

My sincere condolences to all his family and friends. May he, dear man, rest in peace, and rise in glory.

"A" :-(((((
