Queer Cinema

I don't know if cable television counts as "Queer Cinema", but I did love Queer As Folk, and this first encounter between Brian & Justin is as hot as it gets on television!

Dear Mikeyank,

I remember this as if it were yesterday when "Queer As Foik" was in syndication on Showtime (I think?) and I just could not wait until the next episode. While Justin had that barely legal look about him, it was Brian that really got me all stirred up again and again. What a great body and an equally great laid-back attitude he brought to the set. I loved the series so much, I purchased the entire series on DVD so I could look at this silky-smooth body of Brian at will. If my memory serves me right, there was some frontal nudity trained on Brian in the Shower, I think. The impression I have lingering still in my mind was that Brian's package was every bit as generous as his character was. Brian was like our much beloved Jason, only Jason was low-maintenance in comparison and much easier to love to boot! Those were the days!

Sincerely horny now,

Stimpy :angeldevil:

One of the all-time "classic" go-to gay series. While it was in its hey day I was in Mexico, living with a family. They had two teenage girls who would watch the show, but not understand all the colloquilisms. I remember watching it with the girls, then we would "go over" the show. I also liked the UK version, but it died out quickly after the US version started.

Now this Australian short clip. Is it part of a TV series Grace ?

I think this is just a short film. What you see is what you get. There are tons of them on You Tube. I've watched a lot of them, including the first one you posted this evening. They are all very thought provoking. I liked this one a lot. I'm glad his mom walked in on him kissing his lover. No more closet. Now he and his lover can get on with their lives and his mom can decide whether to support her son or bow to her culture. Sometimes a tough choice for parents.

I spent a sleepless night a while ago looking at a website that was a support for Christian parents with gay children. All of them supported their LGBT children but genuinely were concerned that they were going to go to hell. Hearing it from their side- their love and acceptance of their children but fear for their immortal souls was really enlightening to me. I haven't had a lot of patience with the Christian far right and their stance on homosexuality but when read from that viewpoint, I felt those parents anguish.

There are lots of these on Youtube but I havn't really taken time out to watch them until today. I think I shall spend more time perusing through these archives; they are more enjoyable than some of the porn we've been subjected to recently.

Amen. I think you will really enjoy them. They have a lot to say. Also, I mentioned before, there are a lot of You Tube videos of boys kissing and they are pretty wonderful if you like sensuality, love and sexuality all served up on a platter together. Even though you don't get to see the fucking that likely follows, if you have a good imagination ... Beats most of the current crap on here.

Also there are a lot of the soft porn scenes from indie gay movies. I've seen a lot of the movies and the best of the fuck scenes are posted on You Tube. I've also watched full length gay themed movies on You Tube. Have fun!

I once went to a queer cinema in Rome. Not at all what I was expecting. It was a huge two level cinema full of old horny Italian men and the screen showing crap porn. I wasn't going to sit down or touch anything and I wont describe what was going on around the toilets.

Anyway, when I was living in Montreal I went to the LGBT film festival and enjoyed several films: http://www.image-nation.org/2012/index-eng.php

I remember:
'33 Teeth' was funny.
'Christopher and his Kind' was good
'Buffering' was ok
'Fucked' was an in your face wake up about AIDS for a 16 year old

Probably find these films on the internet now.

When I was in graduate school in the 80's I lived in a building next door to this theatre. Sounds like it's still alive and kicking. I always wanted to sneak in. I doubt if they would have willingly let me in. When I was there, it was before the internet and they showed porn videos and had a couple of jack off shows a week. It looks like it has evolved to more live shows. I'm glad its still there. Serves its purpose.

Going Down in LA-LA Land

Oh.........and almost forgot 'Going Down in LA-LA Land' with Matthew Ludwinski as Adam. He is just soooo smokin hot. I think it was his first 'gay' film. I remember asking the director Casper Andreas in the Q&A session after the film if it was whoose idea and was it fun painting the 'boys' in gold body paint for the party scene. lol

I'm going to watch that later!

Thought I'd bump up this thread. The film "Beautiful Thing" is featured heavily in both UK Gay magazines Gay Times and Attitude to mark its 20th anniversary (it was written as a play before being made into a film). When you think about the changes that have taken place since the film was released it really does underline just how things can change as when it was released in around 1995 the LGBT had no rights whatsoever, Section 28 was on the statute books and of course the LGBT was only decriminalised rather than legalised - full legalisation of male same sex activity did not happen until the 2003 Sexual Offences Act.

Times have definitely changed for the better.

I've been watching a lot of vids the last year or so and also enjoyed Havest. There was so much nonverbal communication....it seemed like the bare minimum of words were used in most of the movie....this resulted in great scenes - talk about some tension:

Also, I enjoyed several short films on youtube. This one from Brazil is one of my favorites. My understanding from reading some of the comments is they're making a full length film using the same cast which is being released next year. Can't wait!
