Ok, I'm not sleeping now, something woke me up...

No need to answer this if it is too personal, but what keeps you at home all the time ? No matter the answer, thank god for the net as it makes for a nice change from just reading. W
Disabled, I use be a gym nut, super active & a beach bum at Blacks Beach but cancer ended that

I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope you've got good friends and support locally. It's obviously really hard to deal with illness especially when you can no longer do everything that you were previously able to. I have to go now, so I hope you have a better day after all. Take care, W

thank you I hope we can talk more & I want to find out more about you. Be well and have a great day.

Hi, I'm back again. What would you like to know ? It's 17:13 here now and the sun will be thinking of going down in another hour

3 am HERE, My hours like myself are not the norm. I just got use to this sleep pattern.

Are you awake at 3 because of pain or is solid sleep difficult for you to achieve ?
No, I have been up since 12:30, normally I get up around 11:30 PM but yesterday was l was late & thankfully my health issues at the moment are dormant. What do you do,to occupy your days.

At this time of year I ski (downhill) any chance I get. I can always cadge a ride up the mountain and being a' local 'resident I don't have to buy a lift ticket. Weather permitting, I will ski as long as possible, making sure I'll get a ride back down the mountain. When I'm home I enjoy all sorts of music, particularly Rachmaninov in classical and Richard Strauss, among many others. My parents travelled extensively and always returned to Australia armed with music that was difficult to find here. I've got some amazing stuff they brought back from Holland (the Netherlands) that's long since been deleted, but I'd never part with them, regardless of the price. Other than that living in a small country town and being gay has its ups and downs. Having access to this material (porn) and being able to chat with other guys makes me feel less isolated. I hope you feel supported, also, in this environment. After all, we look after our own. I hope you have a comfortable day. Cheers, Wombat

Thanks for sharing, I did visit Holland for a day on a trip from Israel where I lived for a number of years on a trip from Israel where I worked for a decade.

Wow, I have some Israeli CDs too as I visited Israel also, but only for a fortnight. It was in the days where you couldn't visit Israel and then Egypt using the same passport. Have you seen the movies 'Yossi & Jagger' and "Yossi" ? They were made by an excellent film maker Eytan Fox. I recommend them.

I actually like spiders. I don't reflecively kill them, because they eat other bugs. You heard the saying that there is an exception to all rules? Well all spiders are poisonous. Just sharing some of the weird stuff in my brain. I didn't always feel so happy with spiders or any bugs. In fact I was downright afraid of all bugs. Knowing how I could become a victim of teasing in the Navy; I got my fear tottally erased by a profesional hypnotist before I enlisted. Thank God that I did. I was sent to Orlando Florida recruit base and in our barracks was plenty of palmetto bugs. These are roaches on steroids. I was able to cope. I still don't like them walking on me and I will never eat a bug. In the Philippines I got caught outside during a flying exercise of their version of palmettos. Yikes! I had the devil of a time getting one out of my hair without crushing it. In Australia and Kenya it is common to eat Queen Ternites. In both places I put off the people who offered me them. They are considered a delicacy. May I say YIKES! again? You can buy them for about $79.

I've never heard of eating Queen Termites here. All I know is they build some of the highest non-human structures in the world, at 8+ meters high. Like you I think if offered one to eat, I'd claim any medical reason to get out of it. Ugh ! Really interesting to hear the hypnotherapy cured you of your fears. Like you, I'm not afraid of them, I just don't like them. Funny, isn't it - you're brave enough to enlist in the Navy but were worried about bugs. I'd expect being in the forces would present much greater threats. Congratulations, and I hope your country is proud to have you serve. Cheers, Wombat

Interesting. In Israel every physically capable man serves in the army or reserves. I saw action in the first invasion into Lebanon. By the time we got up there it was all quiet and the inhabitants actually were glad to be rid of the terrorist's. We stayed a couple of weeks. Over time Israel withdrew..

I was aware of the conscription laws in Israel, but I thought if you were LGBTQA+ you could be exempted - or did you not wish to be ? So are you a dual country citizen ? Your profile doesn't specify your location. W

Hmmm, Israeli men are unusually handsome :) !!!!

I served as an American and worked for the government while getting my advanced decree. But, that was a lifetime ago.
Eventually everything is a lifetime ago, relatively speaking :) So, you are not Israeli ? Not to worry, a lot of Americans are very good looking too  W x

Thanks, a nice thing to say, sadly I am ancient . I may have a young mind but it is in a decrepit olde body. Tell me more about you if you care to share.

"Hey mate welcome to the home of America's Cup." That's the first thing my new mates said to me in Perth in 1985. My reply was; "We Yanks don't eat that Vegemite, mate." That started one hell of a good time. Just outside of town there large termite colonies, and plenty of rabbits. I also learned a new name that I couldn't pronounce at first reading. EMU is also a brand of beer. I was offered Queen Termites during an afternoon tea which resembled a Texas bbq. I got rid of my fear of bugs, something that plagued me since childhood by hypnotism. This works on me because I cooperate. Some people simply can't. I should have included my fear of heights too. Bravery is in not giving in to what you are afraid of. I still went up the mast to apply silicone to one of this ship's antennas. I did not enjoy any second of it but the job got done. Years later, I embarrassed myself while riding up the elevator on the space needle in Seattle. My father in-law could see the fear on my face. While up there I stayed away from the outer edge as well. But I was there. In 1990 when I returned fire after being shot at; I will bet that the Iranians aren't proud of my service. That little boat was cut in half by the 50Cal . The Persian Gulf is full of very large sharks. They are use to eating red meat because the sick sheep imported from Austriala are thrown over board. I bet you never heard of that, mate. GDay Mate.

I'm pleased you had a good time in Perth and yes, I concede the home of the America's Cup is indeed the USA. When Australia won the cup and hosted it in Western Australia, I was working for a resort hotel on an island near the Great Barrier Reef. We got the biggest catamaran we possessed, and sailed all the way from north Queensland to Perth, mooring as close to the course as possible and used it to entertain important industry figures. It was a really exciting time that I never will forget. I'm sure some US Navy heavy weights would have been invited.
Despite having my private pilots' licence I went through a period of severe acrophobia like you described. I was on a scheduled Lufthansa flight out of Friedrichshafen when we hit the most severe turbulence that convinced me that the wings were going to pass their tolerance and snap off. I literally broke into a cold sweat. After that I avoided all tall buildings and only booked tickets in the stalls of theaters. The pandemic lockdowns were long lasting and I've not travelled anywhere since the beginning of the outbreaks, so I'll be able to put off testing my ability to withstand heights until everything is back to normal, whatever that is.
Australian farmers use the practice of live animal exports, mostly sheep, as that is what the international markets insisted on. Despite protests here and abroad, live exports persist and will contribute to shark food in the Gulf.
What can I possibly say in defense of Vegemite ? It's one of those things that you're brought up eating it so are used to the taste. It makes Americans screw up their noses and spit it out. I don't think any adult, no matter where they live, can eat the stuff and love it as it's a cradle to the grave food item :)
Sounds like your service has taken you all over the world. If you're still on active duty, take care and if you're back on dry land enjoy yourself. Cheers, W
